As a African American who shares the same history as you two. Just under a different colony. This makes my heart proud to see black women moving in spaces that were denied to our ancestors. We are our ancestors wildest dreams. ❤❤❤

It is so frustrating watching what is continuing with that embargo. It has made me look at people in Florida that vote for republic@ns with disgust. I understand what they think of communism and socialism, but I have been to Cuba multiple times and only felt love from it's people. This is one of the few carribean islands where I have felt brotherly love from my ancestral cousins.

Jay Rags. The Cuban people are amazing. My grandfather was born in 1910. He became an orphan at age 9 in a rural town in Cuba. He cleaned barns in order to have a place to sleep. During the day he picked fruit all day long and the farmer would pay him with a small amount of the fruit which he had picked. He packed this fruit in a wheelbarrow and pushed this wheelbarrow into town to sell the fruit everyday. All the while caring for his younger brother. He was 19 when the great depression started, not an easy time. Eventually he saved enough money to open a very small and modest "Grocery Store". He continued to work hard, bought a house. Not a mansion in Havana... A small modest house in his home rural town. The depression ended and he continued to do well. He bought a second grocery store, which gave to his little brother... He became a health inspector in this same town. He was well known and loved by the towns folk. Like most small towns in that era, not to many doctors, so he would volunteer yearly to give the children immunization shots. Since he came up from poverty, he never bought a new car, always second hand. No gold watches or fancy clothes either. He invested his money in small factories and a few properties. A couple of two bedroom small houses. In 1958 he was asked, by some political people from Havana to run for Mayor of his town. He was pleased and very proud. Once the campaign started gaining momentum, these same men offered him money to step aside, in order to place one of their own. My grandfather declined. He was so well loved by the people of his town that he actually won the election, beating the incumbent. January 1959 came and when he was supposed to take his lawfully elected office, an official from the new revolutionary government told him that if he wanted to take the office he would have to pay. My grandfather told this official that he would not pay for something that he won and earned. Grandpa did not become Mayor... The US enforced an Embargo against Cuba after Cuba appropriated US companies and lands in Cuba. Two years later, they "appropriated" my grandfather's stores and houses. People clapped and cheered because all these properties will now be distributed amongst everyone... BTW everything that my grandfather was able to accomplish... Was with a third grade education..! My grandfather never wanted to leave his homeland, he had no choice in end.Young revolutionary soldiers helped him, they were some of the same children he vaccinated when young... Its okay for you to feel bad for the Cuban people, but its the Cuban government who shackles and torments them...

@Gregrodriguez: Mucho gracias for sharing this very touching story about your grandfather. I'm always fascinated by Cuban culture 🇨🇺 & the resilience of your people. I live in the States for the past 3 decades but I was born in the D.R.Congo🇨🇩🔥🇺🇲... Our people are so connected to the Afro-Cuban peeps. We invented the Congolese Rumba back in the late 50's & 60's which is a fusion of Congolese music and Cha Cha(my father's generation). I grew up listening to Salsa music 💃🇨🇺🕺🎶 🎉🔥... I'm def planning to visit Havana...

Thank you for this interview, from an Afro Cuban American in Cleveland oh who was raised outside of Afro Latino culture. My mother was human trafficked out of Cuba in the early 1960s and placed in the Black American community, she did not know of her heritage until recent years. However, her Head Orisha Elegua (her name is Alawana) and our ancestors have brought us into the knowledge of our culture and heritage. Thank you Belly of the Beast for all you do, and to you Vice-president Francia Marquez. ASHE ASHE ASHE

That speech about she is a woman and she is black is the speech she uses everytime someone acomplish about the fact she comes from a family of rich miners, she is earning enormous amounts of moment being part of the state, and even that way she still receiving state helps that shouls be receiving only poor people.

The most difficult ethnic group to be birthed within is the group of African Heritage speaking of those Nationals who originate from the Continent of Africa, speaking of those Nationals who originate from the Continental nations within the Continent of Africa. I say what I am saying because what I am saying is True. Just because a Man, Wo/man, Woman, Adolescent, Teenager does not want to identify as "black", but instead identify themself as birthed of African Heritage does not define this person as a "sellout", or "Fraud". For a person to be defined as "black" the person would have to have a certain version of the color "black" as their skin tone, hair color, the accepted definition of eye color, etcetera. If a person does not have "black" colored skin; then a person is not "black". A person can have a varying form of "black" color skin tone, white color skin tone, brown color skin tone, etcetera and factually be birthed of African Heritage- even if they are a Cuban National, Haitian National, Jamaican National, Virgin Island's national, etcetera. Yet there are people who are birthed of African Heritage who insult other people birthed of African Heritage who have what they call white colored skin as person(s) who are practicing what is known as "passing as white", or "passing" yet they ponder why as an Ethincic Organization; many People birthed of African Heritage squabble, negative argue, ask other person(s) birthed of African Heritage for financial assistance then upon receiving financial donations, assistance of varying types, these people in need reject, avoid the people who donated their finances to them to help them. There are many people birthed of African Heritage who insult other people birthed of African Heritage while standing, or sitting in front of them yet within the next phrase they speak the speak compliments, love to them. There are too many negative instances of people birthed of African Heritage bullying one another then receiving assistance for their personal needs and wants while the defeated person's do not receive what they need and want. Even harder is the experiences of a light skin toned people who are factually birthed of African Heritage. Every other people dead, or alive or not yet to be created as an easy life compared to those negative circumstances a light skin toned people birthed of African Heritage who is rhetorically challenged about being a factual African Heritage person, being asked are You mixed? What are You? As if You are an alien. If someone is an alien - then what? There is a rapper named Prodigy who is a member of the rap group "Mobb Deep" who said within a song within the "Mobb Deep album titled "Rare Species" that he was abducted by "Reptilians", "Aliens" and sent back to Earth to rule. Is the rapper "Prodigy" wrong for speaking about "Reptilians", "Alien's"? No. The rapper aliased as "Prodigy" is not wrong for not speaking about "Reptilians", and "Alien's". People say that people should conduct "tough conversations" yet become unhappy when tough topics are discussed. People have a right to be unhappy. People have a right to speak freely. People have a right to Defend oneself. People have a right to be educated. People have a right to educate. People birthed of African Heritage would be much more successful if they did not conduct the negative actions they conduct against one another. When any people fight, squabble, kill, murder one another, other life; them Satan wins in certain ways as well as "People " miss what the Government Negative Actor's are doing. So, those of You who enjoy mocking homeless people, making fun of needy people need to remember that You too can be homeless, and needy, mocked, unappreciated, unloved, hated, falsely accused, mistreated, taunted then when You defend Yourself - Your defense - "YOU" are labeled a problem because You defended Yourself against Your attacker's. Negative Government Actors have their bribed negative actor's waiting amongst the culture's of the world to control the masses of people, animals, world events. Religious leaders are used as Judas Sheep to corral masses of people astray. So when the bad actions happen because whomever follows the directions of the Judas Sheep, Negative Government Actors, bribed Negative Actor's, whomever chose to take advantage of those beings less fortunate than Yourselves made the choice. Those persons that spite the homeless, and destitute instead of giving the homeless, and needy what they need made such choices. So, why behave "SURPRISED" after receiving negative results?!?!? I think "Belly Of The Beast" employees produce information worth watching. It's great to see, and hear other facts, and perspectives from different people.
