Why doesn't scratch feature complex games?

- You guys liked it when I ranted about text, so here's another video lol.
I've always been confused by scratch's featured projects, but in this video I explain what I learned about the featured list.

I think its because scratch team also focus on the community aspect and not just the coding part so whatever unique art thing might make it up there. another problem i have is the top loved section or loved by scratchers im following because a good amount of spots are taken by generic platformers instead of games that deserve more attention
Scratcher: creates perfect gameplay and shares project
Scratch team: nuh uh
Other Scratcher: Creates bad gameplay and puts little good art
Scratch team: PUT IT IN FEATURED PROJECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
scratch is for beginner programmers! we cant just show them the capabilites of scratch!
also scratch: *proceeds to add a mod block which 60% of the community doesn't understand and refuses to use the clone block in any of the tutorials"
mod block is just a maths thing. it wouldnt make sense not to have the mod block since it isnt a complicated part of scratch.
mod block is just simple math but I see if you can't find a use for it (but its very useful for technical scratch trust)
i use mod all the time and griffpatch uses it in his projects and his tutorials and it is very useful
@@vii-ka yep but I can see why especially if you are newer when I first did scratch on the local version several years ago I had no idea what it was and trying random numbers just made me more confused (not realizing it was literally just remainder from divison)
yeah but the thing is i almost figured it out several years ago by experimentation because i tried numbers from 0 to 2 but if i went to higher numbers i probably wouldve figured it out but i didnt go above 2 for some reason@@channelname7105
also even though i didnt know what it did it didnt bother me because i just never used it, similar to the sin and cos and tan and so many other thigns that i didnt know how they worked many years ago
I made a FNAF game with like 4000 blocks of code, I spent like 4 - 5 months on it, and that didn't get featured, the Scratch team just choose games with no effort put into them, just why? Like forget Generic Platformers whoever makes them are just desperate to get on the front page...
and that's why they should make a new featured tab for more experienced programmers
As someone who's been featured before, I 100% agree. My game that got featured, was made in less then a day. I have spent weeks sometimes working on games, and yet, the game that I put almost NO effort into, got featured... I was happy and disappointed at the same time... 😑
I know how you feel. one of my least interesting projects was featured.
@@KTcomics Glad I got someone to relate to 👍
@@-8bitsOfAwesome- yup. say, what's your scratch username? I'd like to look you up over there.
@@KTcomics My user? -8bitsOfAwesome-

How tf?
*sees inside*
WHY TF?:

They just feature _____ creators nowadays. I did propose “Drop The Orange” to be featured and they ended up featuring it so there’s that.
Him says he uses penguinmod
Me:me to
His subscriber count increases by one
because in the featured projects, that is what is being viewed the most in that week 😮
To my knowledge, scratch projects that are featured are manually chosen through submissions in a studio.
@@Scradvanced-jn7iw … w
i see projects that are featured and not in a studio
So your saying i have a higher chance of getting featured? I make simple games for the reason of what you said at 1:52, so new people can learn off of my code. I make more animations than games... But i think thats still a thing, you can get ideas of other peoples animations... And then someone gets an idea from you... And it keeps on going forever, thats actually how most animations are made! Even outside of scratch
I forgot to mention in the video that projects have to submitted to a specific studio for a chance to be submitted, and you cant submit your own projects
@@Scradvanced-jn7iwthey don’t ALWAYS choose from that studio. They say that they sometimes use those projects to find projects to feature, even if not proposed.
My games are complex and yet they get 5 views or something so I think that scratch's featured page sucks in my opinion
Bro same
i made a game with 750+ blocks and more than 20 sprites with muliple secrets and still no feature :(
and a hack dectetor(?)
and also, SCRATCH IS MADE FOR KIDS, KIDS HAVE TO PLAY FUN GAMES, WHEN THEY PLAY COMPLEX GAMES, THEY WONT UNDERSTAND, AND BECOME CONFUSED!
Sounds like your calling young people stupid, also yelling doesn't benefit anyone.
@@Scradvanced-jn7iw sounds like ur calling me stupid
Some even made tiktok on scratch 💀
because scratch team sucks
LOL TRUE i have never found a feature page without a furry animation meme
Can't agree more
@@chromedoesstuffikr furries are disgusting. They are fucking annoying.
1 million percent true
Very true.
Well cuz scratch is made for lil kids who dont know how to play complex games
Well urm actually this is offensive to the creators
Well urm actually this comment is offensive to the video creator
True I agree it’s kinda mean to the creators of the game
I'm on my other account right now, but In the video I do say that I'm not trying to saw the featured project didn't have effort put into them, there are just more complex games out there.@@fenix1sabean326
@@marioman98 well urm how
no they really be boring
Yeah, I had the same thoughts! Some projects just seem kinda lame, so now it makes sense!
yea. even though i think that featuring more complex, and intresting games would give pepole an example of what can be accomplished and give new users something to strive towards
And then the simple games don't get enough attention. Like seriously- I have a game called Coin Run 2: Demo 2.5, and it's probably the most simple game out there. The algorithm is rigged guys.
fr
I occasionally livestream playing people's games so If you send that in the form during a stream I'd be happy to play it btw.
got it@@Scradvanced-jn7iw
Because it's a demo lol
COMMENTS CAN NOT WORK ON ANIMATORA SO ILL DO THEM HERE@@Scradvanced-jn7iw
Anything above the 100+ asset limit is BANNED
The poor quality of the Featured tab is why I want Epic, Legendary, and Mythic ratings in Scratch.
Because the scratch team thinks that the only people using scratch are 7 year olds :/
I completely agree, I got a featured project. It was the fireflies one or whatever, but i don’t know why it was featured. I really should not have any projects have been featured
I like this video. It helped me actually realize the featured projects are simple, and helped me also realize that they’re featured instead of complex ones because most scratchers are newbie programmers and need simple projects that they can understand. I do feel like complex projects should be featured still, like Scratch Team can make a page/pages that feature complex projects. The benefit of that is it will help all kinds of scratchers see the potential of scratch and how far you can push your projects.
i've made good sratch games, there good i think
I got featured once on scratch accidentally. but it turned out to my benefit, as I was working on a series of action combat platformers, that, since I was featured, ended up getting massive amounts of views. or at least, massive compared to what I'm used to.
whats the link to pengrin mod or whatever
hey i use penguin mod too!! would love to do a collab... (also i will SUBE and LIK if you do collab with me)
Maybe, idk.
