This video demonstrates the installation of a half HP (0.37 KW), 1 phase, 220V AC, monoblock electric water pump.
Installation procedure
a) Unpack the pump from the box
b) Remove the flange covers (end caps) from suction and delivery flanges. (Suction and delivery flanges packing will be sealed in the new pumps to avoid the entry of dust, dirt and gravels. If it is closed, we have to carefully cut and remove the flange packing using sharp edge paper cutting knife before installation.)
Installation procedure at delivery end
1) Take a PVC 32mm MTA (Male Threaded Adapter-Thread size 1 inch) and fasten it to the pump
2) Use Teflon tape on the threaded portion. (PTFE thread seal tape is a polytetrafluoroethylene is commonly used in plumbing for sealing pipe threads. Teflon tape lubricates allowing for a deeper seating of the threads and it helps prevent the threads from seizing when being unscrewed)
3) Cut 1 inch PVC pipe to a length of 2.5 inches. May need around 4 no’s it’s better to cut and keep it ready for the use.
4) Make use of solvent cement to join PVC: Solvent cement fuses the CPVC material together; creating one uniformly bonded piece of thermoplastic
5) Apply cement solvent before fixing PVC 32mm TEE
6) Fix 1 inch PVC pipe
7) Take PVC 32mm FTA (Female Threaded Adapter) and connect it to the TEE
8) Now, fix PVC 32mm ball valve to one end of the TEE: A ball valve is a shut off valve that controls the flow of a liquid by means of a rotary ball having a bore. By rotating the ball a quarter turn, i.e 90 degree around its axis, the flow is blocked.
9) Again will fix a 1 inch PVC to Ball valve to fit one more FTA
10) Will use a PVC 32mm hose nipple to fix PVC spiral ribbed, flexible suction hose/pipe
11) Will screw up an end cap for the FTA for priming. Priming: Prime the pumpset before starting. Priming means taking out the air present in the suction pipe and volute casing by filling them with water.
12) Repriming is easier if the gate valve is closed before stopping the pumpset as the water is retained in the delivery pipe line.
Installation at delivery end
1) To ensure water tight seal it’s better to use GI 25mm male connector hose nipple with MTP (Male Pipe Threaded) at suction side instead of PVC hose nipples.
2) Heat the GI male connector and insert the PVC spiral ribbed, flexible suction hose/pipe
3) Ensure that the Hose clamp is firmly air tightened
4) Other end of the suction hose pipe to be fitted with GI male connector nipple before fixing the foot valve.
5) Put Teflon tape to ensure air tightness between foot valve and male connector
6) Fit a foot valve vertically at the bottom of the suction pipe.
7) May cover the foot valve with cotton cloth to avoid clogging of FV by foreign materials
8) Drop the suction pipe inside the well and have ensured that the FV is sufficiently submerged in water all the time during operation.
There must be a clearance of at least 0.5M gap between the PV and the surrounding walls as well as the bottom of the well
Maximum possible suction lift is 6 meters (20 feet) but it is preferable to keep less than 4.5 mts.
Can use 1 sq mm, 3 core cable for standard 0.5 HP (4 amps) pump

Will not it harm pump, if we close the water output before switching off. Bcoz pump is sucking water and creating pressure in output nozzle.
Dear Sir, the manufacturer have suggested to close the water o/p before switching off the pump. But it is not mandatory all the time. We can even close the ball valve after switching off the pump. It is not essentially required, if you are using the pump continuously.

Do you mean we need to shut down the gate valve(yellow) on delivery line first before stopping the motor in order to retain the water in suction line so that we can't bother to do repriming on next operation?
No its not required.
With this method, after priming only first time if we put suction pipe in a tank then in future we don't need to do priming again right?until water level downs below football..motor will do Self priming right?
Yes Mr. Aditya Mirajkar. Having a FV at the end of suction pipe will keep the pump primed for longer time. Any water that is remaining in the pipe will not be allowed to flow backwards through the valve until the water level falls below the FV.

Make sure the suction pipe is free and clear of debris. Less flow into the pump, will yield less flow out of the pump.

Any pump should have valves attached at the outlet to regulate 'pressure' within a pump.

Already there is foot valve in the motor. Is there any necessity to attach one more foot valve at the end of the suction tube/pipe ?
Having a FV at the end of suction pipe will keep the pump primed for longer time. Any water that is remaining in the pipe will not be allowed to flow backwards through the valve toward the well / pond / sump / or any other water reservoir.

Dear Sampath Kumar, 0.5 HP Monoblock Centrifugal (Kirloskar) water pump will usually have (This will be in the company catalogue / brochure) which is 98.5 feet.
Means, from the level of foot valve (which is at lower most of suction pipe) it can deliver water to a distance of 98 feet.
If your , then the pump will struggle to perform. In that case we should go for higher range pump.

You can use two solar panels each of 250 watts total 500 Watts to run your pump but the pump will only work for 4 to 5 hrs during bright day light.

0.5 HP pump will only be able to lift water around 30 feet. Please check the 'water head' of the pump mentioned in the Pump Manual. A pump can push water more than 50 feet up, but it can't pull it up that far!!

Mr. Spandan, No we cannot use a mono block pump for tube well. Instead you can use a Vertical Turbine Pump (multistage diffuser type pump) which is used to pump water from deep tube wells.

Check valves prevent flow in an opposite direction. Any way i have used Foot valve which keep the pump primed, allowing water to flow in, but not letting it flow back out, making them ideal for use in pools, ponds, and wells.
