Thanks Jeff! Unexpected bonus video. 3:23. Westside. Tunnel Project. 4 tunnel lining rings now visible. Segments getting supplementary connection plates fitted across the joints. Might be because there is no earth pressure bearing on the rings that would be part of design considerations for a buried ring. 3:43. Westside. Tunnel Project. Built up some earth against the north side of the first rings. Same on the south side at 3:57. 4:16. Highway west. Top right. Stripped the vegetation from above the tunnel alignment. Possibly to build up earth over the tunnel as previously suggested by David Salisbury. Pad foot roller would only be there if they plan to add more fill over. Although The Boring Co claims the TBM can ‘porpoise’ downwards, TXDoT who presumably is the landowner, may require a depth of earth temporarily over the tunnelling operations.
Nice Jeff. With so many residential homes nearby you'd think someone would have a drone and be a Tesla watcher, if it was me living nearby my drone would be monitoring hourly.
I usually do the flight forward landing technique but because the battery was depleted the control authority was compromised and I was a bit worried that the drone would hit me! Crisis averted :-)
interesting! The tunnel wall segments that aren't embedded underground need braces attached at each segment interface to keep them together. That's what the person with the ladder running around the machine is doing.
@@LACHIVA1969There is a hydraulic push cylinder. You also have a shield covering the erection area (outside the segments) that retracts as the TBM moves forward.
Actually my ultimate dream is that the extension is the first Boring Company “train station” offering express visits from Downtown Austin to visit or buy a Tesla from Giga Texas. Getting a site right near 130 is making more sense!!
When you video the Prufrock area please consider including the "spoils bin" (it's at the end of the conveyor belt) too. That way we could see if it's actually working and if so, at what rate.
I want to see the boring machine move forward, a drone pilot needs to fly semi permanently, jeff camp out in his cybertruck recharging batterries for continuous flight for a day when it starts digging. Or like are spacex install a camera to monitor the tunneled 24/7 live from the side of the highway. Just had an idea, fly a balloon over the boring machine with a battery to keep it in position to record it diving into the ground over a few days.
I inderstand there is a lot of work to do building and setting up, even filling in front of prufprock, but i suspect the snails made it to the tunnel end some time ago!
I expect that the toughest part of this tunnel will be until Prufrock 3 is totally under the surface and has something to work against. Newton’s 3rd law, and all that 😉
I don't think using this for car tunnels should be the first goal. Water, high voltage lines, and other infrastructure projects first. High voltage would be fantastic, nobody likes to see those lines stretched across an open field.
"Digs" is a present tense verb (relative to the video, anyway). I see no digging here! "Dug a few feet when no one was videoing" would be more accurate, but you even failed to show the dirt removed to the holding pit for the conveyor! Excitement is good, click-bait wording is not.
I am wondering if this is turning into a nightmare for the Boring company. If anybody who is interested to get a tunnel created watches how long it has taken them to get to this point for such a short tunnel, I can't imagine anybody would hire them. This looks a lot like a machine that is more a prototype and the company is struggling to make it work. If I were Las Vegas I would be super concerned.
Since this is an updated machine I wonder how much extra time has been needed for additional testing before they begin regular tunneling? I have no idea but just posting negative comments without fully understanding the situation is unnecessary. Once they start regular digging we'll be able to better judge how well or poorly this tunneling is going. In the meantime, let's be patient.
Prufrock 1 and 2 in Vegas have already dug a number of tunnels and presumably will continue digging many more. Unclear what's going on with Prufrock 3 or even what Tesla's schedule is, but given Boring Co's plans at this point are for 68 miles of tunnel built in Vegas at their own cost, it might not matter that much if anyone else is interested in hiring them at this time.
Fly a little higher next time. The prop-wash from the drone almost blew the tarp away!😉
Thanks Jeff!

🤗 THANKS JEFF ,FOR THE PRUFROCK UPDATE 💚💚💚
I herd one of those Cybertruck, calling my Name!

Nice catch, Jeff. Enjoted the show.
Cheers dude.
Great landing! Cool!

Thank you!
0:37 cybertrucks lining up for a special prize?
Great shots of work being done. I love it and would like to see more.

I'm still trying to figure out how the wall segments are attached to the rear of the machine.

@@LACHIVA1969 They aren't. They are inside the cylinder and hydraulic jacks push back onto the leading edge of them pushing the machine forward.
I hope they dig a second one under the highway, then one to the parking garage, then under the whole factory perimeter. Let's goooo

bad case of tunnel vision there
Check back in 20 years

So far my money is on the snail 😂

Gary the Snail would have traveled over a mile in 90 days.
What is the timeline for the tunel? when is supposed to be operational?

World’s fastest tunnel boring machine takes 6 months to drill 6 feet!
It doesn’t look like 3 miles per day digging , maybe it’s going on inside
Nooooo! Why the clickbait title! 🤣 I thought they started production of the digging!!
They have started. Cutterhead excavating into the ground.

@ElonMusk-bs8kd All good. Thanks for asking. I wonder if you plan on leaving Tesla
@@edhill8568 Yes, I agree but it's still not a good look and normally you don't have daily drove footage that anybody can see.
@@Gig0Surf OK, that makes sense. I wasn't aware that they don't charge Las Vegas
That is some pretty boring video. In more than one way...
Boring is so boring.... :) Threee months cannot finish 300 feet tunnel.
It's a long way from their marketing materials of a 2 day onsite setup, but also some good dog fooding going on here, so can't complain!
