I assume these are all recorded from the direct line-outs. This is the problem with most demo videos, because when you actually play these pianos in person, the sound through the internal speakers is vastly different!
I just bought the CLP735, sounds pretty good in headphones, but I am bitterly disappointed with the sound through the speakers! All woolly, unnatural, obviously electronic and to my ears nothing like a grand piano! Shame, I am going to try a different model.
By the way I also use professional stage pianos so I know a good piano sound.

I had the same impression. It sounded very digital, even though its samples. Thr 745 just brought out the hiss closer to my ears.
Not unplayable, but I expected more for 3k+

I was wondering if you guys could perhaps play the pianos without it being turned on so you can hear how loud the keys are, my p45 is very loud and i can hear the keys when i play the piano and it's super annoying i was wondering if these would be the same.

I have a Roland fp90x and when I heard a real Yamaha piano I was taken by its bright and rounded sound. I can’t have a real piano as we are living on a boat and need to restrict the weight. Hence an electronic piano it is. But in a comparison with these three I notice that the soundmachine of Roland has so much more Harmony and a much deeper resonance than both others. The real kawai grand pianos have something light but solid yet the recording sounds a bit hindered by its casing. Let’s be honest these are all three good instruments and it’s totally a personal preference. For me replacement will be a Roland that is unless there’s a level up in Yamaha. Still searching.

I've herd people say that kawai has a better action in their keys, I can't guarantee that as I too didn't have the option to try the pianos... but what I can see is that the sheet stand on thr kawai is larger in terms of hight than the others (compare it from others from the specs sheet given on each pianos website) which if it really is, is a great help. I have the roland hp704 and it's sheet stands hight isn't too high so loose sheets curve and fall off, which is annoying, so I have to keep a book or smthing like that behing the sheets

I have gone with yamaha clp735 among these three choices. Although anyone is fine and equally good. In my country India kawai and roland do sell very expensive although these are almost similarly priced in USD in many countries. Yamaha has been very satisfying for me. For sounds just invest $ 200 more and get garritan cfx on laptop. It will beat any digital piano in the world.

Pls note one important function ... that of you are using vst and want to use piano speaker system then only yamaha and roland has line in function and inbuilt audio interface. Kawai CN39 do not have line in audio feature. For sound garritan cfx on macbpok worth $200 beats anything by far even I use mostly garritan cfx and not any inbuilt sound of yamaha clp.

@@vanyablake True. I can use my digital piano with the many piano VSTs I have, but I never do it. The piano VSTs are basically sample libraries and they can't compare with the resources and refining put into the special piano engines the big brands have especially on their better pianos. The samples on the computer can be bigger and "better", true, but it still feels like playing a computer. And the lag with VSTs doesn't help, even with ASIO and short buffer there's still some disconnect between the playing and hearing, I can't stand it.
