I had completely the opposite experience when I got engaged, I actually decided to knit my wedding dress and not only did no one ask me but when I told them, they looked at me like I was mad (which I may well be!) 😂. We’re having a very simple and small ceremony and I’ve actually decided to knit the Melides dress you mentioned, once I’ve got the gauge right it’s been a lovely knit and I’m knitting it in the same colour as Inés’ sample!
Congratulations on getting engaged!! Whatever you decide to create for your wedding festivities, I know it’s going to be beautiful!!! I just got married in June this year and I’m so happy I didn’t knit my dress, that would’ve been an unnecessary stress for me lol! Can't wait to see what you decide to incorporate!
This is fun! I incorporated a lot of little handmade items into our wedding events as well as the event itself. I knit my husbands bow with a stelina yarn. I used the George's bow pattern by Johanna Gehrish!
I knitted a garter as my something blue, using the Eloping pattern from Knitty. I knitted a small heart in the same yarn for my husband to pin on his shirt, under his tux jacket. I liked it so much, I knitted the same garter for several friends who married after me. Best wishes for your wedding planning, what a fun time! Also, I have to ask because you’re from Pittsburgh, will you have a cookie table? I’ve read about those-it sounds so yummy.
Matrimohairy? 😂 This was a fun collection, and I especially liked your bachelorette picks. I am not sure how much knitwear I want to include in my wedding attire, but this gave me good food for thought.
This is perfect! My best friend is getting married at the end of the year and I suggested knitting something for her to wear. I knitted a sweater to wear over my dress in the morning and I know she loved the idea but it’s difficult to find something that’s suits her style. Thank you for making this video!
I knit the zosia wrap for my wedding. I wore it ovee my dress in the evening. I got married last year but I've worn the wrap all summer this year. it's such a good layering piece.
✍ long bell sleeves, i'm on it (agreed though they would suit it soooo well!!!) thank you so much for the double shout-out, and the kind words about my designs 🥺 i've actually always secretly thought the tied & true cardi would be sooo perfect for a bridal cover-up! and 100% agreed that knitting an accessory or cover-up seems like a way saner choice than knitting a full-on dress!!! congrats on your engagement and excited to see whatever wedding look you put together!
Congratulations! Good luck picking a pattern. I got engaged right before the pademic and with everything going on in our lives we still haven't sat down to get married.😅
I got married in Norway in May, so I knit a cardigan to wear over my sleeveless dress while we sat down to dinner in case I got cold. I considered a wrap, but I had a feeling I’d just end up dipping it in my dinner, which is why I opted for the cardigan. I didn’t end up wearing it in the end because it was plenty warm, but I was glad to have it. However, if the tied and true cardigan had been available at the time, that is 100% what I’d have gone for, just with long sleeves! I think that is perfect for a wedding dress layer
Ha! My husband has watched a lot of your videos with me, and he said, that worm is working overtime! 🤪 We had a very small wedding, and somewhat nonstandard. Sometimes I wish we had made it a bit more special, but we were on a strict budget, and it was just one day out of 14,193 so far! Will follow your wedding story with great interest! ~Brenda
I have been married for 11 years. I am so happy that I went to a bridal shop and picked out a dress. I can't imagine the stress of knitting or crocheting my own dress. I do wish I would have knitted or crocheted a lace shawl with eyelets to wear for photos. My wedding was in May, so the weather was quite nice. I love the pocket square and matching bouquet idea. 🧶
The sheer-v-sweater was on my to-knit list for my wedding as well! I just love the look of it. In the end, I did decide to knit a Cumulus Tee (in dusty rose) and wore it with a long skirt and Doc Martens. Oh and I also knit the ruffle socks b Petiteknit to go with it 😊
Congratulations! I immediately thought of the ghost whisperer but I get what you mean about the gauge. I think if you have very even tension it looks nice. It could be a great bachelorette party top as well in a fun bright colour. I’ve actually warn one I knit in a deep burgundy colour over the top of a plain black silk dress as a wedding guest and I found it was a nice way to elevate a fairly basic dress.
I’m simultaneously devastated and elated that you didn’t post this before my wedding, 2 weeks ago. Devastated because it would’ve been nice to have something I’d made in the lead up to the wedding (it’s winter here in Aus, so totally seasonally appropriate). Possibly more elated though, because the absolute last thing I needed in the final lead up to my wedding was to stress myself out by making something! Make sure that you leave yourself MONTHS of time to finish it - your wedding will come around so fast!
Haha I totally feel you! I was planning to knit a sweater months before we we’re planning the wedding. Then I got pregnant and we decided to marry earlier, 5 months earlier. I had a month to knit it but it worked out.
Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! I´m on your channel for the first time and I really love the patterns you have shown in this video. But I would love for the names of the patterns to be written down somewhere. Either in your description box or directly above the images in your video :) Hava a nice day!
I knit literally NOTHING for my wedding, and it was in February in the Virginia mountains...if there was ever a time for bridal knits haha. I love your ideas for theme and what vibes you want to feel for your wedding. It really is A LOT and you seem to be able to channel through the noise well. Take Pinterest/Insta/etc with a grain of salt, and, from one sweaty girl to another: white running tights or bike shorts under your dress. You said next October, right? If that's the case, you have tons of time! All of these knit ideas are awesome! Those socks are darling and I must keep that for the next bride in my life!
i knit a modified twining vine strip-knitted afghan for my wedding because i wasn’t convinced i could make a garment to wear that would be what i wanted and also fit well! i also already had a faux leather jacket to wear if it got cold. the blanket was supposed to be to sit on for pictures with my dog but that didn’t happen, so it’s just in some of the flat lay photos 😅 there are a ton of people who wore the wrap me up sweater scarf for their wedding which is beautiful but the pattern leaves a bit to be desired. you could probably freehand something similar if that’s what you’re going for! also, knitting bows for your bridesmaids would be so so cute, or knitting a tie for your fiancé (similar to the pocket square)!
I was not knitting when I got married (I mainly knit when I'm procrastinating from something 😂) - I am a sweaty girl and there's no way I would have worn anything knit at any of the events leading up. The only thing was maybe I would have liked a knit shawl on the night of the wedding reception when it actually did get surprisingly chilly. I think the idea of knit accessories is cute, if you're having kids at the wedding you could do a bow for the flower girl's hair or a knit "flower crown"? Or the cushion to tie your rings to? 🤍
I got married this past May in Canada and wanted to knit myself something (a shawl or thin sweater maybe?) but time just got away from me. We ended up having a bit of a heatwave that weekend and I’m also a sweaty b, so I was ultimately glad not to have a knitted item on me! 😅
I have the Gorges top saved with the very specific mental image of wearing it with the bow forward on top of a pregnant belly. the stars would really have to align for that one but it would be so cute!
Knitting a dress would be crazy. But maybe a nice stola/shawl to drape. Or cardigan. Also, during your prep (makeup ect) how gorgeous would it be to have your own bathrobe knitted?
I love giving socks to brides that are CLOSE RELATIONSHIPS! at the rehearsal dinner so they don't get cold feet the night before the wedding. I stress close relationships because you really have to know their sense of humor so you don't accidentally offend them. But it's been a hit whenever I've done it@
@@knitsbymandy when my best friend got married, she brought the socks to get ready and they made it into her "wedding accessory" photos with all of her rings/perfume/jewelry
My mother knit me a gorgeous mohair wrap for my wedding, we got married in Florida in the summer so I didn’t actually get to wear it, but it’s a treasured to me still.

I knit the tied and true cardigan (long sleeve), and it’s such a great pattern!! Perfect for bridal wear too.
I got engaged in February and I’ve been saying I want to knit something for my wedding but not known what. So this video was made for me!
I knit a white ghost whisperer top, and I love it! Very fun to pair with a colorful bra
So much inspiration! I’m planning on knitting the darling wrap cardigan from KfO for my wedding ☺️
Also, the bride socks are so fun!
that is such a beautiful pattern! i'm sure you will STUN

Not getting married anytime soon 😅 but loved this so much!! You shared so many great patterns and such a fun theme to speak to ❤
I've been thinking about making the Crumpet Camisole for my wedding as a set in dark green. Maybe with a skirt in the same stitch pattern
