I became an animator because my pet hamster stole my sketches and started a rival animation studio with them. To get my art back, I had to become an animator myself.
im thankful i found your video in the middle of my darkest times thinking if i am worth it or not pursuing the animation. ive only drawn illustrations.. really. but this is an eye opener for me that you as an animator started from scratch too. thank you for inspiring me to draw again. i will try to slowly get back my motivation and creativity up 😁i hope you continue to strive for your best too!
You can do it I believe! There will always be ups and downs. You just gotta keep pushing and improving every day and you will achieve things you never even dreamed of. Best of luck!
You are awesome! I challenge myself to work on vr animation in your videos. I am very impressed and inspired by your artistic field. tvori is amazing. He makes difficult animation work easy for ordinary people. I want to see your amazing works. Please make and share more creative works of tcori~
real cool, i've never attended any school but i've been self-taught and practicing animation for several years. I wonder what it is i'm missing. I haven't been fortunate enough to get any interviews with any animation studious yet. I just became 24, and i'm looking real hard. Any advice?
I really suggest finding a mentor with experience where you want to work. Whether it's from school like I did or finding a private one if you can afford it. If not just ask nicely for the smallest amount feedback from Animators WITH experience. REALLY take that feedback and keep improving your work and keep applying places. It will happen eventually trust me !
Subscribed! You are an awesome animator Jilmar!! Can't wait to see what you do next -- and I SEE your Blizzard shots in this video and they are GOLD!! - MA
What do you think about the future of 3D animation in video game industry? Game studios use lots of motion capture, physics simulations and procedurally generated animations. Other than these, the rise of AI is also intimidating.
Procedural animation is pretty soulless imo. As humans we each add our own unique style and touch into our work and it makes a really big difference in a game. About AI, man the work I do is so specific to each individual frame and even to the pixel. Maybe AI will get to a point I can tell it "fix the arm in this frame, the head a tiny bit on this other frame" etc. But is it automated at that point? you'd still need an animation artist looking over just like we do with mocap. My point is just be opened to the possibilities and learn to adapt to new technology if that time ever comes
Happy for you, but I wanna ask you a question, you said that your animation wasn't improving till you attended an online animation school. what can you say about who cannot afford to attend them? should they just give up their dream? Thank you
No don't give up. Having mentor will help tremendously but you can still learn a lot without. If I was in your place I'd make a lot of connections on LinkedIn, post my work there and ask for feedback. More often than not you will get someone replying. Take the feedback and apply it to my work. You can also kindly ask people directly for feedback, but may not always work. But having an experienced animator's opinion on my work was the most valuable part of my school
