    Hello 2 Channel Listeners: Update from Red Dragon Audio. Ryan reached back out to me to say that while 2020 drastically postponed development, they are indeed in business and moving forward with a MKIII version of the M1000 and S500 mono blocks. No secret sauce or changes divulged. However, that's some good news!

    Enjoying the videos. Interesting choices of gear as I have some of the brands you're reviewing, specifically Tekton and Red Dragon. Double Impacts and M500 Mono blocs. The Tektons are flat out the bargain of our time! Friends have Electrons, Impact Monitors, Encores, etc. All just outstanding. The Red Dragons are very much a bargain as well. I've found that like every piece of gear synergy is key. In their case for me, speaker compatibility combined with preamp choice made significant differences. Input impedance had a lot to do with the way they presented themselves. Tube preamps combined with a 10K input impedance of the amps was not ideal in my case. Tubed ARC SP-16 or Audibile Illusions M3A proved to be not as good as with SS Nuforce P-8, which was incredible! Now using the RD's with an old Pioneer Spec-1 preamp, Infinity RS4000, Marantz UD-5005 Universal Disc Player, Technics 1200MK2, etc in bedroom system. Magnificent!! Tried RD's with my Maggie 1.6 and Vandersteen 2CE, GREAT. Not good with Vandersteen 3ASIG but I think the tubed ARC SP16 was not a good match. I may have missed what preamp you were using. Let us know if/when you find out status of Red Dragon? Thanks again for discussion.

      Okay i see you're using Classe preamp, SS! Great match I'm sure with the RD's.

      Hi Billy, thanks for sharing your system and experience with various Tektons. Have you had some good seat time in front of your friends Encores? They look so impressive. Nice to meet another RD owner. I certainly will let you know if they contact me back.
      The Classe CP is the best preamp I've owned to date and I've had some really good tube preamps, this Classe splits the difference sonically, absolutely love it. Cheers!

      @@2ChannelListening Heard Encore's a couple of times. Sounded great but were in a somewhat small room and would have liked to have heard them in a larger space.. More time with Electrons, Impact Monitors and Double Impact SE's. Same signature sound throughout. Tweeter array and the way they're crossed over is the magic I believe. Thanks for your reply. I look forward to seeing more of your videos.

    I'm been trying to decide what budget amp I she get. I been watching your videos about the peach tree and I found some refurbished ones but now I'm thinking about emotiva mono blocks which I been leaning towards already. Basically I am starting off where you were with a newer pioneer elite which sounds good and has good power but some of my speakers are big I want to get the most. What do you recommend for the money.

      The XPA HC-1's are a great place to start. Harder to find, but for around $700, those XPA-1L's are a bargain as well. I'm not a fan of the full size chassis versions, they do not fit on most racks, obnoxiously deep. Still cheap horsepower and they perform better than most audiophiles would like to admit. Don't overlook VTV either. vtvamplifier.com/

      @2ChannelListening thanks I appreciate! Your the best I was Bing watching your videos yesterday and see how much of your own time and money you put into it and actually care about helping people out and I been listening to music through my pioneer elite which is where I saw you started with. I have always owned silver faced receivers but I wanted something for movies but I been getting serious about audio and I feel I am missing our on things and I took a lot of time and money building big beautiful speakers I want to get the most out of them. Thanks again for your help.

    Nice piece of content, you're doing just fine. Stick with it and learn as. you go. What you're experiencing is pretty common for content creators... you're just too close to it. Yes you're rambling a bit at times but you're also imparting some very well-articulated information with real-world experience. If bet if you ask around, you'll find that most of the folks trying to do this on UA-cam go through the same process. If you're not an experienced content producer, it's really eye opening how much work goes into video production. Once you've decided to make this an ongoing thing, think about learning iMovie or Adobe Premiere... those editing tools will allow you cut these down to more manageable lengths. But they are an investment.
    I'm always drawn to folks who can listen to a lot of different gear and spend time with it and get familiar with it. This is the third such channel I've recently discovered and I'm enjoying hearing about your experiences. As a Zu Omen Dirty Weekend owner, I'll be really interested to hear your take but I'm not looking for affirmation... just different points-of-view.
    Great stuff, thanks for doing it!

    • @2ChannelListening
      @2ChannelListening  3 роки тому +1

      David, this is very thoughtful and appreciated. I hate to make excuses, I would love to spend even more time on the production and writing out scripts, but I have a very full time day job. Getting into a rhythm with the cycle, product tear down and listening time is what I really focus on. I'm pretty confident these will get better with each release - heck, just my first two videos were cutting my teeth to stare at a camera (versus a person), awkward.
      I appreciate this encouragement that I am on the right trail with a good portion of my viewers. Alta Audio IO's 1/16. ZU Omen DW 1/23. Thank you so much!

    any opinions on these vs schiit monoblocks(real monoblocks?) especially with tekton speakers??

    • @2ChannelListening
      @2ChannelListening  3 роки тому +3

      Hello Michael, here is my thoughts on the Schiit Aegir stereo/mono's. They are a good amp to try "IF", you are willing to pay going rates or retail for them, to only have a max of 80 watts on hand. If these and the Tekton's are going to be your gear of choice for a good long while, then you should be happy for a good long while.
      However, if you ever get rid of the Tektons, you still have to find other high efficiency speakers that will work with the Aegir's. There are lots of cheap, good amps to be had that do not work as room warmers, the novelty of class A can wear thin really quickly if ventilation is an issue and or you like to run your gear for hours each day. The great thing about Tekton's is they are less picky with amps, whereas the Aegir's are going to be picky with speakers by design. Cheers.

    The bandwidth of the amp is a common spec with the really good SS gear going to above 250,000 Hz with some to the MegaHertz range. Amps that spec to 50,000 Hz or 80,000 Hz usually are rolling off by 20,0000 Hz (as in this case) and sound dark, and less extended in high frequencies.
