He he. Man I get you. Mistakes happens. The real art is to overcome them, and in my opinion to be satisfied. That gets me sometimes. Nice work though. I followed all of this engine build and enjoy it. Nice work.
I found your playlist a couple days ago and am really enjoying it. I have the same kit in aluminum. My parents gave it to me for Christmas about 30 years ago when I got a Craftsman 6x18 lathe and thought I could build an engine. I looked at the plans and the kit and decided it should wait for another day. A few months ago I saw it on the shelf and decided to look into building it with the same results as before. It went back on the shelf. I am lathe and mill shopping for better equipment and might be able to build the engine after watching your videos.
Use my videos as an exercise in what not to do 😉 Go look at Blondihacks and Joe Pie channels who both built PMR #1 engines at the same time. Very similar kits. Blondihacks does excellent tutorials for the beginner and Joe Pie is a Real Machinist who makes it all look really easy and really knows his stuff. Thanks for watching!
I confess I've always tended to have a bit of a "git 'er done" mentality for the mechanical stuff, with function before form. My old Ariel motorcycle used to win GROT trophies at the rallies I used to go to - but also won some "farthest traveled" at the same events. This is a bit of an exercise to mend my ways, so after I get it running, I'll probably remake all the dodgy parts using lessons learned.
@@thumperthoughts re the "Ugly" I assume the cylinder will be clad in wood, If you machine off the "ugly" you could always machine off a small step of the same amount off of the columb, then the wooden cladding would still be symmetrical. just a thought.

Also Keith Appleton is all Model Steam all the time.
@@thumperthoughts - I will look him up. I knew about Blondihacks and Joe Pie.
Wonder if a little superglue would hel secure parts
if it was mine I would machine the "ugly" off. We all make mistakes, it's how you learn. You should see my pile of scrap parts.

@paul rayner I never thought about cladding! Thanks for the idea💡
@@thumperthoughts no problem, just my thoughts
