To hear about the Bermuda grass in St Augustine, go to about the 58 min mark
That’s what I came for too. 😳
Thanks
@1:02:39 more dialed in
Why are you so clutch
Come up to Marion County and check out Rainbow River
Which plant growth regulator should I use for empire zoysia and how do I use it
Loving the long form content of your podcast now, sir. I’ve been a fan for years and have had your lawn plan since 2019.
I listen on Apple Podcasts, but heard your story about the guy hating on your adds and the way you used your spreader.
The more success you have, the more people are going to nitpick every little thing. Keep doing you, Allyn!
Let us know if will kill torpedo grass
To speak from personal experience, the local Massey I initially hired before becoming diy, was pretty bad. They would miss appointments, promise to be there and then not show up (multiple instances). Also found their idea of soil test was strictly ph test with on site magic color bottle to determine ph. Never once tested the soil for nutrients. The only thing they ever put down was pure potassium. Not once did they ever put any nitrogen down. My yard looked like hay out back and they just kept blaming me for not watering enough. They did an aeration twice and did a really poor job I had enough, fired them.
Took over myself after watching, reading, and researching lawn care nut for months. Within the first few months my lawn was turning green again. I haven’t changed my watering at all (I had already previously done the tuna can challenge and had it dialed in). Sure there’s been problems that pop up every now and then (weeds and such) but it’s not gone back to looking like hay since. Thanks Allyn!
Had similar issue. Bought house and prev owner had Massey servicing. Yard was struggling. I asked to meet the rep and discuss what they were doing and pointed out issues with lawn. “Not enough water in that zone” “Chinch bugs here” “Fungus there”. Yard kept getting worse and excuses kept coming. Finally cancelled them and found Lawn Nut. Best yard on the block now.
Hi Allyn, if you experimenting, you should try Tenacity to get rid of Bermuda on St Aug. Tenacity is labeled to sod farms of St Augustine, so I would assume safe for that grass. But not labeled for Bermuda. You should give it a try. Good content! Keep it up!!
Allyn, I think the Saharan sand in your atmosphere may be why you're not getting the usual thunderstorms. I think it's keeping the hurricanes from forming too.
I’ve been applying Ornamec 170 (1.7% fluazifop) mixed with Triclopyr to treat Bermuda in my TTTF. It was an experiment but made sense. It’s ended up working well for me. The fescue takes somewhat of a ding, but it’s summer. Anything herbicide I spray in the heat of the summer would probably ding it in the same way. I’m wondering if ReCOGnition would be applicable on a cool season turf.
I buy fertilizers from this guy all the time. It's good stuff folks.
thank you!
the liquids clog my sprayer like crazy
@@LiteHedded I only use the granular.
On your comment about the completely custom lawn care guy, I know a guy that runs a company like that. His lawns look like golf courses, his beds are pristine, he has a small crew and he charges an absolute fortune. The rich people pay but you are right, he’s happy with his little piece of the (non-scalable) pie.
By the way, your ebook is the best $15 I’ve ever spent on my lawn! Nearly the best in the neighborhood now, pure gold!
Wow have i missed the name of the product??
Ornamec 170 also controls bermudagrass in zoysia. I think that's been out for years.
Maybe the critic of your fert application has some deeper issues. Your Earthway is a large red plastic container and his red solo cup is probably a significantly smaller plastic container that he seems very defensive about. Hope he finds the help he needs to solve his problems; fertilizer application and otherwise.
I thought my device was on fire watching this. 🤷♂️ smoke much?
It will be interesting to hear more about this herbicide as we all here in Florida have the problem with Bermuda grass as a weed in our grass.
I’m calling Morgan & Morgan as a second hand smoke victim. 😂
92 in August? It’s 95 in may this year
If you can direct me to products you have that would be beneficial to me! I fertilize with Milorganite but after that it’s a crap shoot as far as herbicides, insecticide and fungiciogo
here is where you can get all the training you need - more than just what products to apply, but why to apply them, when and how much. yardcarebootcamp.com see you on the inside!
I wish you discussed empire zoysia!😢
Do you think recognition could protect st Aug from other herbicides for torpedo grass when mixed?
I have not had a chance to research it that deeply yet but I do know they have other tank mixes for different weed problems.
You see those guns, 💪🏾💪🏾...I believe LCN u would've ttakenthat dude down, no question ..😂😅.. My guy..LCN
Mira oy ye, it ain't cool calling out "Cholo's" because of a flat bill, you sold a flat bill on your merch ese!
I meant it as a complement! It's perfect for my SoCal Mexican friends. I lived there in the 90s and loved it. But for 45 year old white guys in Florida, it has a different conotation.
No way you went to Weeki Wachee!
I live just south of Salt Lake City, and even when daytime highs are well above 100 degrees, the nights are usually cool, around 60 degrees. The other key factor is well-tuned sprinklers. Miss one spot and your grass will go dormant and brown--just like the grass in the mountains that surround the Salt Lake Valley.
Let me just say if this exists I'm totally buying it!!!! I have so much invading Bermuda that im about to have to resod half my front and back yard!!!
Maybe I’m just unlucky, but when I used round up around my shrubs it almost completely killed off the shrubs.
No, I did not spray the shrubs I sprayed the weeds only. But somehow the shrubs managed to suck some in.
Plant growth regulator is the best turf product ever created. Don't let the name scare you. It makes the most dense healthy looking grass that you could never achieve without using pgr. Also gives it more color and just a better appearance overall because even if you mow once a week, you're barely taking any grass off, so there's no stressing the lawn out. Don't understand why everyone doesn't use it.
The Re-cog-nition sounds fantastic.I hate seeing Bermuda in my St. Augustine grass. I used a sod cutter once to get rid of the stuff and it is a bug pain as you have said. It's coming back in a few places, so not excited about that. I hope we can see the new product SOON! Thanks for keeping us informed. I'm looking forward to watching you test the product and seeing the results. I've got to give it to the chemical engineers on this one... if it works as advertised.
Thank you for this. I cannot wait to see your progress when you get it. I hope it works and also stops the carpet grass issue i get from my neighbor and will not go away. I did see that celcius did harm it.
I look forward to the recog and fusilade. It looks like this surpresses torpedo grass too...which I have a huge outbreak of on the East side of my yard. If you want to test it on torpedo, I am not not far North of Tampa.
❤ Weeki Wachee Springs. Hope you’re well, Allyn.
How was the process of adding footers to your existing pavers so you could have the screen enclosure? Any damage?
The pation was built with the footers already in place. Someone before me was thinking ahead.
Always great info thanks again brother
Very interesting content on the Recognition and Fusilade II on wild Bermuda in St Aug! Hopefully the Recognition alone will be the magic Bermuda killing bullet we've all be waiting for. Looks like on domyown Recognition will be $243 when it comes available they say late this year. I look forward to following what you do with this and learning how well or if it works, any temporary yellowing or stunting affects on the treated St Aug (like Celcius/Certainty combo likes to do), etc. Great Podcast 👍
Recognition alone doesn’t hurt Bermuda, you have to add the Fusilade II and you have to let it dry on the leaf (foliar app).
Got the swinger flamingos back there
Great episode
Image actually damaged my Scott’s pro vista st Augustine grass. I’m guessing it should bounce back fine from it but it also killed ‘some’ of the Bermuda grass as well. BUT the weeds image is supposed to take care of is still flourishing. Go figure. Smh.
I always had bad luck with image I would go super light and no matter what I would do. It would still hurt my grass. Now I started using ortho oddly enough spot spraying areas and been having much better luck I just annihilated a bunch of dollar weed in my Saint Augustine and yes it weakened that area of Augustine got a little weak in that spot but did not die and I did it during 95° weather. Super stoked about it. Just go super light one spray and move on and should be good.
It also damaged some of my Bermuda for a rew years and not the weeds. Was happily surprised at the Bermuda so I used it again.
What is the mixture of these two?
We've had a ton of rain on the east coast, while we were in drougbt last year. So interesting how the different sides of the state can be so different!
Yeah crazy isn't it? Manatee County where I live is listed as severe drought right now.
54:46 purslane is EVIL
Just hit it with quinclorac and let the Bermuda take over 😎
🤣
FTW allyn you rock.
I've got wild bermuda starting to grow in my TTTF. Any tips?
Recognition.
Spray and pray!
@@artieartya He only mentioned it working on St. Augustine. Did he say fescue and I missed it?
@@chrisdillon8376 correction: fusilade II
How do we buy recognition???
It's not available yet but should be by fall
What's with all the smoke in the foreground of your video? Very distracting.
Agree, must be an aroma diffuser, very distracting...
I like to burn incense. It's a podcast so I figured most people aren't caring to see me much. Lol. Sorry it's distracting. I'll move it over for the n2xt one.
Am literally here for this comment and answer.
Thought Ziggy Marley was behind the camera. 😂
Actually wound be cool to have a nice one in the background vs foreground add to the accent wall you got and would be less distracting since it won’t be over the camera lens. Side note even though it’s a podcast , I appreciate the visuals and clips you incorporate.
@@LawnsAcrossAmerica Ahhhhhh I thought there was someone by the camera smoking a bunch of cigarettes!
