    Some of the house really gives off "big event" vibes. Like it's totally not intended for families to live, but instead to constantly rent it out to strangers. I mean I like how spacious this is, but it feels more like they turned large halls into a luxury places to sit and talk during big events. That's it. I can't even call it a home. It doesn't feel cozy at all. And why are there so many couches everywhere... This gives major "rich guy with zero taste who didn't know what to do with all that space"-vibes.

      I think what ends up happening is they hire someone and the guy they hire is trying to make a profit if they put as many craftsman hours as they did in old houses it would cost twice or three times as much and the builder wouldn't make as much as a profit. Like look at the stair railing its so boring some old houses stair railing looks like a work of art that was made in france this one was made in texas and looks very basic.

    • @samshare2146
      @samshare2146 Рік тому +27

      More accurately...projects done on this large of a scale THESE DAYS are rarely done tastefully.
      I have seen gilded age mansions...estates...and those were done to a completely different (higher) level. Even smaller estates, especially those that were built in the past, are much more "homely" than this behemoth.
      I had thought that The Manor would be more like that, but I am disappointed that it is so "plain" in comparison to many luxury estates I have been in. Yes, it has space, and the land (location) is expensive, but I would have liked to see a lot more detail/craftsmanship...intricate wall panels, rich woods, gilded/coffered/tray/carved/barrel/groin ceilings, hand painted frescos...Anything that shows exquisite craftsmanship that leads to a sense of warmth and opulence.

    While I don’t think I would refer to this house as ever being visually on par with genuine châteaux built in centuries past, I still find it interesting to compare how it looked originally to how it looks now as it quickly becomes apparent that the designers in charge of each version had very different visions in mind: whereas the original attempted to artificially evoke feelings of old world grandeur, wealth, and respectability, the current iteration seeks to shed the idea of belonging to a long line supported by intergenerational wealth and instead seeks to appeal to the tastes of new-moneyed celebrities and influencers.

    • @13Psycho13
      @13Psycho13 Рік тому +42

      It's just a play with words, a certain frame through which you can make something sound more appealing by making an (unrelated) association: the Taj Mahal is a world wonder and this is even bigger, therefore this is just as good if not better. And that's disregarding the absurdity that the Taj Mahal or the White House are famous for their size, which they're not.
      It's just an empty claim, in this case to market this property.

    None of the details and amenities are any more unique than what you’d find in a suburban Minnesota $2million home. The house just has more of them, in larger sizes, in oversized roomed. The style and color palette are as generic as it gets. The only room that has any character is the barbershop , but even that is a bland facade plastered over an oversized, mostly empty room. And they hid it away in the attic.

    My attention goes directly to the design of the handrails on the stairs and I like it with the white staircase. The oval on the ceiling is very different for me plus there seems to be a mirror before the molding. I see this bathtub is similar to the modern bath tub look I like in white. This bathtub sits flat on the floor instead of legs. With a mansion this big a utility or modern industrial aesthetic makes sense to me. I see this movie theater is fancy with its capacity for a lot of movie chairs including couches to lay down vertically.

    It's also so discordant. Take the solarium, which is amongst the nicer parts. Walls and windows are nice. Then you look at that modern ceiling with can lights and the whole thing collapses. The building doesn't quite know what it wants to be, other than entirely too much.
