Planting Soybeans “Green”!

Yesterday/Today, I made some neighbors gawk at me and quite possibly lead some to question my sanity. I planted soybeans “green” into my beardless triticale cover crop! It planted like a dream and even got a rain on it today! This is the first time I’ve planted first, and then ran a roller crimper. Not sure why planting green isn't, and hasn't been, the standard.
I can think of a couple farmers I watch who go bare dirt and seem to suffer a lot of consequences when it comes to lack of moisture.
Where they plant grain, they have to roll the ground for rocks anyway, so it's not because they don't own huge rollers or have the desire to run another round with another piece of equipment.
