First comment from someone who had time to listen to the whole thing. What an honor! ""The acid test of a great performance is whether it produces a feeling that there is absolutely no other way for that music to be performed" I think that's the case here. Honestly everything about this and your other Bach is a true liberation of the bass. It has so many colors that let it stand in it's own right. Thanks Joel, I really can hear YOU in your playing. If that sentence works. It's authentic and comes across really straightforwardly.
Thank you, thank you from the bottom of my tired soul for restoring hope in the potential of the double bass, I have never heard such a clean piece of music ever before, the sound is beyond comprehension beautiful
I just know ,you are very pleased with the "Timbre" of that instrument!,..The Voice of that Wood ,is astounding!..... Esp. when you play drones ....it totally Flourishes!,.....as for the Performance . i am in Awe! thanks for sharing this work you have done, and being who you are ! (That was Powerful!)...what a great set of Selections to play
Whenever I listen to cello suites no2 and no5 on cello, I always think how they would sound on double bass, as no:2 is very sad with low bass notes and no:5 is dark and melancholic with double string chords. I am happy that it is visualized/sounded magically good, Thanks again.
Transposed to A to suit the (tuned in fifths) instrument, and brilliantly arranged. (He sounds great too but that goes without saying!) Also seems to be using an ergobass.
Magnificent as always! Curious what strings you use given the unique tuning. I'm assuming you use a solo string for the high A - is that right? On the low end, do you use a standard E string tuned down to C, or something more specialized?
Always amazed by the beauty and precision of every gesture. Thank you for sharing your passion for Bach’s music.
Wonderful intonation. Ordering strings for 5ths tuning now. What a gift.

Words cannot describe how inspiring this is
Thank you Daniel!
I love how you play Bach’s cello suites. So musical and so beautiful. Thank you sir!
I do not know how you can play with the strings so high. what a beast! it sounds so beautiful.
They are kind of high but it doesn't bother me for some reason. And I used to be rather fussy about having low action!
Thank you sir for sharing this valuable gem.
Masterful!
Masterful and very original thinking about this music, all my congratulations and admiration maestro!

It is a low C...a couple of string companies do make strings for 5th tuning.
Dang! So very well played sir! Sorry the bass nerd in me has to ask, Still in 5ths? Transposed a little? Details appreciated!
Fantastic work BTW!
In fifths, playing in a- (my bad, i originally thought d-, thanks for the correction)
I think it might be transposed to A minor.
@@borial01It's in a minor, a fourth below the original.
Always in fifths! I'm trying to do most of the Suites down a fourth.
Fantastique Joel! What bow?
NOt French! LOL
That's my favourite bow of all time...made by the incredible maker, Bernard Walke of Ottawa, Canada. Its extra long and weighs 170 grams.
What??? Is this available for the electric?
Oohhh transposed to a minor :°
