Ben Platt is extraordinary. We do not deserve him. And he deserves an Oscar for his performance in the DEH film. The criticism the movie, and his performance, are receiving is making my stomach turn. I actually, legitimately do not understand how people weren’t more moved. And to call him old…to make fun of the hair that actually grows out of his head…is bullying. Period. Ben Platt. Whoever did make up on him made him somehow look older than he actually is which is actually quite a problem in the film. What Evan does is quite bad but you believe it because Evan is a kid and would make these mistakes thinking that it’s for the greater good. But when you have a guy who looks like an adult, purposely telling a lie that he was best friends with a kid who commit suicide to his parents, it kinda makes Evan look like a complete psychopath. And if you say that the actors around him are around his age, well they actually look like teenagers while Ben looks like he’s in his late 20s

look at the nominees. they all knew they were gonna lose, they all saw ben in the show (not saying the rest weren't good - they're all spectacular). but ben's performance is just too amazing to describe, and they all knew it. and they all smiled and cheered for him. theatre is so beautiful when we just support everyone around us.
