We wanted to share this video with you as a warning for anyone thinking about shipping a vehicle in future. Learn from our mistakes and make sure you do your due diligence when organizing your shipping. To date we are currently still chasing down the ~$4500USD still owed to us & our friend Jordan by our shipping agent Gaston (ScapeADVcargo).

This video was obviously a bit more all over the place then our normal videos but as we said, it is real and raw. We felt it important to share in the hopes that our mistakes made are avoided in future by other overlanders. Do you due diligence when selecting a shipping agent. We are still chasing the ~$4,500USD from Gaston (the cost of paying the shipping fee's the second time - directly to the right companies).
We are members of an amazing community on Facebook called the 'Panamerican Travelers Association' which is a GREAT resource if you are driving anywhere in the Americas or looking into overlanding/ shipping a vehicle.
We hope you enjoyed the positives in amongst the hard times and wanted to thank you all for your love, support and patience. You're the best xoxo

I just went through the same issues, I shipped my motorcycle from Los Angeles,CA to the port of San Antonio in Chile, I signed a contract for $ 2070 and ended up paying cents short of $ 5000.- For anybody interested, if you are in the US, please check the BBB page before hiring an agent. I'll be happy to share my experience with whomever needs it. I'm glad you got the Van out.

I understand the sentiment behind that expression - but it also kind of drives me nuts. That's like saying, "it's only health care" or "it's only a roof over your head" or "it's only food" - all of those things require $$. 💞
“It’s only money Lee” as hard as that is to hear in the midst of it all and all the feelings it is such a good reminder. I cried with you guys in that good news. So glad you guys were able to get the payment down.

This all doesn't seem fully real, there's Propaganda tactics for possible financial supportive gain, included. When people dont work, some impose a Guilt trip upon those they Target!
If all these people emphasize so much caring sympathy and the Internet page has the Advertizement Pinned at the top of the list, then the focus is 'the Gift' rather than "the Giver's" of 'the gifts'!
HeadCrownArrows yeah but it’s nothing wrong with being emotionally honest and having a healthy emotional release or cry...you cry...clear ur mind and move in...no one should feel like them being emotional may be judged by their partner...but I don’t know their relationship, so I’m sure he said what he felt she needed to Hearst the but I would have been more upset that I wasn’t allowed that space to just cry..

It's important to let your partner experience their emotions without scrutiny. $12k is a significant sum of money relative to what approximately 90% of the population accumulates annually, and both Lee and Max clearly worked very hard to build their savings. Based on what I've gathered from their past videos, Lee worked a low wage job for months on end to even be able to travel in the first place. When you bust your ass for that many hours over an extended period of time only to be eventually screwed over financially... she has *every* right to experience a moment of weakness and completely break down.
@@LuvuluvuLaChic I agree - and a lot of the crying (I'm assuming, of course) - is out of frustration and the complete realization you have been swindled and taken advantage of. It's not really about the $$ - not exactly. That said, they seem like a really sweet couple with a good relationship and I'm so glad they got a lot of their money back.

The financial loss is only one side of the situation. Having your trust broken is an emotional recovery that can take longer to work through. Keep in perspective that the person that did these things to you is the accountable person for all of the emotional, physical and financial distress. Remember all the others through the multiple countries you traveled that were decent and trustworthy. I also wanted to say that your videography is insanely creative. I can only imagine the time filming and editing that goes into the condensed posted version. I know it's a lot of work and I appreciate you both sharing your amazing adventures and parts of your life.

That really sucks having your home held hostage, double that someone else was going through it too with their van. Happy to see you all reunited.

I was just laid off by a warehouse company who took customer's money for more than 2 months and didn't pay any vendors/suppliers/services. They owed two landlords more than $300,000 EACH!! They didn't declare bankruptcy, they just went out of business and locked the doors. There was no money to pay anyone.
I felt sick that so many people and companies who had given such great service to the company got so badly screwed.
But I will tell you this: in over 50 years, I've only encountered 2 bad apples in business.
If you let bad apples poison your openness, trust, and love, it doesn't hurt them. It hurts you!!
Of all the story, I was most upset that Lee blamed herself. You trusted, just like you've trusted every day since this adventure began! Your huge trusting, loving hearts are why your viewers love you!! Forgive Gaston, wish him well in the future and don't tangle your karma with Gaston's on another negative thought towards him!

Hi Max and Lee, I am not sure if either of you guys will get to read this but I just wanted to say a couple of things.
I heard about your break up and all I can say is that the news made me sad and I wish you both all the best.
I just wanted to send this message to thank you both for all of the great videos that you guys made. I looked forward to your videos every Monday morning (here in Oz) so much. I would get up early Monday morning (4.30am) just to have time to watch your video when I got to work. I loved to see your next adventure and for 20 minutes or so I was right there in the van travelling South America as well. I know that there are many other people on You Tube doing the van life thing but you guys made such great videos and both seams such genuine people. It really was the highlight of my week.
I was really thrilled to hear that you were going to Europe, however that was not to be.
Thank you for the joy and smiles you brought me and I really do wish you both all the best in life. I am sad to hear that it will no longer be with each other however if it's not right then it's just not right.
Hopefully we will see one or both of you guys pop up on you tube some time soon.

I appreciate you posting such raw footage. Perhaps max was a bit nervous to post that “it’s only money Lee” comment so props for the vulnerability And showing that imperfect footage. You must have been so worried about Lee and wanted her to feel better. It can be difficult to just sit in those emotions with someone and not try to make things better. It was obvious that she felt invalidated and I’m sure you learned from that moment. My husband struggles with this too. He just wants me to feel better immediately and nearly goes into panic mode when I am upset.

This is so sad and maybe this broke you up. You guys had way more in common than what happened to you and it is really really sad to see someone taking advantage of you. Being broken up perhaps you don't feel like doing another youtube channel but it would be nice to see you again Max. I see Lee on Eamon and Bec's channel in lockdown. Miss you and Occy too.
You certainly haven’t lost your camera/editing skills during this ordeal. Highlights: dog joy, especially Occy showing Bella and Izzy his pad; seeing you three couples together (I started following you all in Mexico); modeling good problem solving with all the rough edges intact; your graciousness as you identified and thanked your/our community. All the best to you in 2020, I hope this trauma doesn’t leave too much psychic/spiritual damage. We all need course corrections from time to time. Max, my heart breaks for Australia and I’m glad you’re finding a way to help. Lee, lifelong learning is one of my favorite things...you go girl. Occy, I’ll be wearing you over my heart one day soon.

I think you all need to contact TLC or BRAVO and pitch your "3 van couples around the world" reality show. I know it's better viewing and WAY more entertaining than most of their content. You've got plenty of stuff to show as demos. Glad to hear things are better now and Happy New Year!

you guys were the first vanlifers i ever followed...i started watching you on a greek holiday in rhodes and that led me to eamon and bec and eventually to sailing la vagabond...its been amazing to follow all the youtube adventures over the last few years...ive defo been inspired as have so many others...i now live in a little 2 berth swift charisma...i absoloutly love it and its all thanks to you guys...best of luck for the future whether together or apart.xxx
I'm so incredibly sorry you had to go through this. Things like this shouldn't happen to good people. So happy you finally got the van back. Thank you for the update. I was worried about the two of you but I have quit social media except UA-cam due to the unrest in our country (U.S.) so I had no idea what was going on with the van and yourselves. I hope you had a wonderful Christmas. Please keep us posted on the future.
