I completely agree. This is a film I love simply because of the great music, great acting and wonderful story. Films and tv shows these days rely too much on sex, violence and dodgy special effects to cover up the bad acting and scripts. We need more films like this and less shock and horror. There’s enough of that in the world as it is. Films are supposed to be escapism not reminders of what we already see

I totally agree. The way Grace traces her fingers across Bing's face, imho, a typical reaction to her man romancing her in song. Possibly one of the best love scenes, with clothes still on!!

This was my Dad and Mom’s “song” today as I’m writing this 8-11-21 would’ve been there 65th. Sadly my mom died 1979 of lymphoma (42)
and my dad past 2011 heart attack (83) I can’t listen to it anymore to painful, it’s so much who they were to each other.

Actually in the film sound track they used another female singer. Yet when they put the sound track songs onto an LP Grace sang her part so well that it earned a Gold Record. Why they thought it necessary to use someone else’s voice we will never know.

Grace Kelly and Bing Crosby were truly in love when they made the movie together and sang that song which was a hit in 1956.
Like Clark Gable in "Mogambo" Bing was too old for Grace and twice her age.
Remember too that Grace had an affinity with older man on the screen.And she was madly in love with Gary Cooper when they made the film "High Noon" in 1951.But their romantic fling and love affair though serious was soon over.
The affair Grace had with Bing was more serious that could have ended in marriage.But by then Grace had been seeing and romantically linked with the Prince of Monaco,HRH Rainer whom she married in April 1956.
Bing though upset by his and Grace parting ways later married another actress Kathryn Grant who became Mrs.Bing Crosby in 1957.Bing died in 1977 five years before Grace had her life snatched away by a car accident in 1982.
Grace Kelly was already engaged to the Prince when she made High Society. It was her real engagement ring that she is wearing in the movie.

It was reported that Grace was in tears when the film "Mogambo" finished and she and Clark Gable had to part ways.Gable later confided that "he was just too old for Grace and that he could be his father".
Even though Grace later got engaged and married the Prince of Monaco Prince Rainer in April 1956 and settled down to life as a princess she was not happy and had wanted to resume her career as an Hollywood actress but that too was firmly turned down by the Monaco Royal household.In fact Rainer did not like the idea of Grace resuming her Hollywood career.Grace later confided her miseries and loneliness as a princess to her good friend the actor Cary Grant how she longed for the life as an Hollywood actress.

The famed Hollywood director Alfred Hitchcock had many planned Hollywood projects for her but her marriage to Rainer in 1956 put paid to that.In fact a rosy and promising Hollywood career was all destined for Grace after making "High Society" but alas it was not to be.
Only the men were in love with her... she was NOT with the men... 😜

At the age of 9 years & 10 months, I fell in love with songs played on the radio in the summer of '56, from this movie. Needless to say, I was the only 10 year old in the theater when I went to see it. ;)
Still, now with my own 48 foot sailboat (which I was very tempted to change it's name to "guess what?"), I still love this song, and am about to watch the film once again on HBO Max ... 66 years later :)
