Just bought this bike and is my first Harley. Haven’t road in years, use to ride dirt bikes. The handling and nimbleness is so great on this bike that I would say that it is a great options for beginners just because of how easy it is to control. Also the power is pretty forgiving
I'm ok with the single dash, but it should have been the Sportster S type. Adding GPS functionality to the new LRS would have added just the little bit more it needed.
Good improvements with getting the gauges above the bars and improved rear suspension travel & available lean angle. Same with inverted forks upgrade & moving to the 117 for the LRS.
Your videos are great! I have never owned a HD however have plenty of experience on sport bikes. I am older now and looking to get my first Harley. Your videos have help tremendously. Thank you!
I bought my first bike in 20 years last year. It’s a ‘21 Triumph Street Twin. I’m already feeling very comfortable on it and read for my dream bike. Love the low rider S. Now I have to convince the MRS. but I’m like you, wish it came already set up for 2up riding. Great Vid sir!
Thanks for your honest take on the bike. I've realized after having forward controls on a few of my bikes that mids are really more comfortable for me. The riding position doesn't look as cool but having my feet under me takes some of the pressure off my butt and back. I also had issues with my right knee coming in contact with the stock air filter cover on my Street Bob. As for the gauge position, I prefer the position on the 2022 since it's easier to see and gives the tank a more streamlined look. Btw, I'm 5'6" and can easily flat foot the bike. The bars are a slight reach. The fairing is good enough at 70-80 mph to keep some of the pressure off your chest for 1-2 hours without fatigue. I also agree that IF (make that a big IF) you're respectful of the power and weight it can be a first bike. If you're not respectful of the power and weight the bike will give you plenty of rope to hang yourself.
I like all the updates to the 2022 Low Rider S. I think they could’ve used the center console and gauge off the Softail Slim. It would’ve kept that classic look, but put the gauge in an more visible position. That being said, the changes to the 2022 Low Rider S aren’t enough to tear me away from the Fat Bob. Still pretty confident that the Fat Bob is my next bike.
I,m a beginner rider and I bought a 2021 lowrider s added the saddle an seat I can be a scared bike but if you respect the power and take it slow and learn I think it will be fine
The Low Rider is an iconic model for HD. I've ridden them for years. The new changes from 2018 to the present just say it's probably going to be around another 40+ yrs. My black '22 s is so much better in all areas and infinitely customizable, although I never bolt extra weight on my bikes. Great for short trips 200 out 200m back. If I'm going further I take the FLHTC.I feel the FXLRS is perfect mix of weight, comfort, power, for my work commutes.
I agree with your "Respect the power" idea. I bought my first bike last year (at age 50) and was asking my riding buddies for advice and the best advice I got was "don't get a smaller engine". You can always "baby" the throttle on a bigger engine, but you can't twist a throttle to get more power out of a smaller engine. Best advice ever!
I tell my friends all the time I say the 1200 sportster is the perfect beginner bike because it has plenty of power and you won’t grow out of it too fast and the weigh is manageable until you learn how to ride more because it’s never the power that’s scary it’s balancing the weight when coming to a stop and learning to pick up and getting comfortable with the weight of the bike
I learned on a used $2000 Honda. When I didn't put down the kick stand first, as if I was riding a bicycle, no big loss. Also I never did that again. Now I have a 20 Street Bob. If there were 2 analog gauges on the handlebars I would be all in on this bike. As it is the single gauge looks like my old Sportster. Missed opportunity by Harley IMO. Now if it had 2 gauges and cruise control I would have already bought this bike.
Road a 2020 lowrider s last Thanksgiving as my first ever longer mile did 200 miles no issue absolutely enjoyed it and was exactly what he said about the power
Inverted front end is still a showa with basic internals just as an fyi. I'd say only gain is stability. I'd still slap them ohlins in if you really want the performance of the inverted fronts

I do like the gauge off the tank and higher on the bars but do wish it got the Sportster S gauge. Don’t know if you can change it out. Would do it if possible
You did a great job pointing out the main differences for this bike MY22, Blair. Thank you. In my opinion you missed 2 things: 1. No RDRS. I would have expected this to be at least an option as it is an important safety feature. 2. No cruise control from factory. As you pointed out rightfully, 400$ higher cost for a ton of more value. But the CC didn't make it? SMH I know it's in the options catalog but then the cable runs outside the handlebars which looks just half ass. Both the S and ST (cannot wait for your take on the ST) are serious alternatives to a grand touring model in my opinion. With a little customization I can make both bikes a comfortable touring bike. Why would Harley go that route and introduce such a competition in their own lineup? #scratching my head in particular because they shied away from discontinuing the 107 in the touring lineup. If I want that kind of power(117), I get the ST and still come in below the price for a SG with 107. Really like to understand the thought process behind the decision 🤔. I respectfully disagree on your opinion who can ride such a bike. I started on a Road King 7 years ago and never looked back. It is about respecting the bike and riding it within your hopefully growing skill level and everything will be fine. No need to buy small first in my opinion. Love your videos, sir. Ride safe 🤙
For looks I like the older model gage setup. For riding especially performance riding I like this setup. My personal choice would be 2 gauges mounted high. One the speedometer and the other the rev counter guzge. That would cover both my likes. Performance and looks👍🏽

I'm tempted to pick one of these up as a second bike to my '17 UL. I'm turning 57 this year and want something to rip around on. This looks like it would fit the bill and you can't beat the price!
@@throttleblip9854 well I personally love it. I think this bike is speaking to the younger generation. The guys that want a sportster but know they are gonna need that 6th gear
Even though they’re not as functional, I love the twin gauges and the twin gas caps. That’s one change you didn’t mention, the twin gas caps are now gone 😰 The rear suspension was too low, made the bike feel low at the back and it handled accordingly. So putting in the taller shock, with more travel (that shock is also on the Fat Bob and Heritage) was a good idea. It’s one of the first changes people were making anyway, thanks to companies like Nitron who offer the adjustable length eyelets and different lengths of eyelets for their Harley shocks. Twin disc brakes should be standard on all the Harleys. Well at least on more models. Eg Ride a fat boy with the single disc, then ride the low rider s, huge difference. With the twin disc low rider s, you have much more confidence coming into the corners and all you need is a finger or two on the brake lever
Excellent video and indeed, don't hold back on voicing your opinions on what you like and what you don't. If people want a bland presentation, they can just read the specs and rotate the bike on Harley's site :) I was a bit torn on what to replace my Iron with. Even though the Lowrider S costs the same as the Fatbob (and is "better", having bigger engine and beefier air-filter), I went for Fatbob since I really really like the looks of it and I don't know... it felt "just right" when I test rode it. Now the problem is that I can't get a date on when it will arrive heh, let's hope everyone goes for a Lowrider S and the Fatbobs are overlooked for a bit! Keep up the good work o/
Sick bike and a true performer! After the sportster s, the LRS has the best torque to weight ratio of all the lineup (and lower down the rpm range than the sportster s, of course). Even if you consider HP rather than torque, the LRS is the best M8 performer (only the new revolution engine-based models have a higher HP/weight ratio). Awesome review, as usual :) Cant wait to see a full review of the lrs st to see whether the fairing and bags are worth the money difference (love the fairing, but it bugs me it's not detachable, only want the fairing for those truly long-distance trips. Anyways, keep up the good work!
The Lower Riders are now certainly the stand-out models in the Harley range. However, I’m 6’2” with a 32” inside leg and I find the mid controls make these bikes unrideable. I would have relocated both gauges at eye level and tidied up the tank with a FatBob one. Don’t get increasing suspension height by an inch, just makes the bike look awkward. This will be the fastest cruiser but it is never going to be a sports bike.
You are absolutly right about everything, i love that bike, engine is awesome and i like that it dosnt have as much el. modern digi shite as indian does. Just that price, here in czech rep. the price starts about 27 000 US dollars
Here's a thought? Maybe Harley could offer the OPTION of mid OR forward controls from the FACTORY on most models? OMG imagine that!!! What a crazy idea!
I dont care for this model bike but it was good information for those that do. 👍. Appreciate the honesty on how you personally feel about the bike. Ride safe everyone. God bless
That's a great bike, I've had my eye on the LRS 114. Now a 117 looks sweet. I'm not worried about the weight. I like everything about this bike, yes this will be my first bike. I do have my eye on the new Street Bob 114. I can flat foot any Harley. I'm going to have to get use to the 3.5 tank. Great video 👍
Welcome!! Last year I did the review and test ride in the same video. This year I've decided to split them up to make the test rides longer and more interesting to watch by adding multiple camera angles and a rider with me. Those will start soon!
Got a good look at the new LRS yesterday .... think it's a home run for H-D and good sign of things to come. I like the new (renewed?) emphasis on performance. Wasn't a fan of gunship gray in pictures but in person those pictures don't do it justice. When do think some form of RDRS might be offered on the Softail platform?
Man this really has me considering trading in my '21 Street Bob. I don't like the tank mounted gauges on the older LRS so the change on the '22 is awesome. I love the Street Bob but I hate the skinny rear wheel and tire and I don't mind the look of the spokes but mine are already rusted after 1k miles and being garage kept since the day I bought it.
Just found this channel...great review my brother.. I'm planning on getting an HD in the next 9 months..it'll be my 4th bike ..I was looking at the 883 but now I'm reconsidering..ohh decisions. Cheers
If you've had 3 bikes already, I'd say get something on the softail chassis opposed to the Sporty. Definitely ride them before you buy. A lot of times the Harley you think you like changes after riding. Either way excited to get your feedback on whatever you get.
Love the bike. I am not crazy about the texture paint. Harley should have used inverted forks years ago. Glad to see them starting though as far as gauges I don't really care.. take them off totally lol
The improvements are great, i won't lie i currently ride a 2016 street glide special and this could be a bike to consider going to. I'm definitely thinking on it.
I’ve been riding for just over 2 years now with a Honda rebel 500, I’m 6,2 and I find it cramped. I’ve been looking at getting the lrs sometime in the next year, do you think this bike would be a good fit or should I try a smaller Harley first ?
I went from a smaller sport bike to the 2021 Street Bob and at first I felt like it was big but that went away really quickly. I'm glad I didn't go with something smaller. I say go for it since you have a couple years experience and you're tall.
Idk about all that. My 2 nearest dealers there is no mark up. Its msrp plus freight, set up, tax title and license. 400$ for the gray, black is the standard. Wisconsin
I bought cruise control for my 2020 FXLRS and I still think it sucks that you have to purchase it separately. Other than that the new model updates look dope!
I can tell you from personal experience the forward controls on the Sportster S are not comfortable on long rides and do not inspire confidence in the corners at all. I took mine to The Dragon 2 weeks after I got mine in the first of October and the 5 hour ride out there was fine... the ride back was bad. Really bad. I could barely get 50-70 miles before I needed a good break.
I'm thinking of trading my 2018 Street Bob in for one of these, but I will probably take my quarter fairing, Bung King highway bars, Bung King shock extender, cruise control, HD grit pegs, and 1Finger controls off the FXBB and transfer them straight over. I'm pretty sure the dealer doesn't care whether those accessories are on there or not when it comes to trade-in values do they?
Thinking about trading my FXBB '19 for this bike ... What do you guys think , is it worth spending money on this trade , or just to get better susppension , stage 2/3 and mag wheels for my fxbb ? I clubstyled it ,allready have all the bells'n whistles on it (5gal tank, fairing, saddlebags , stage1 etc.) LRS is better building base but street bob also have have some advantages over FXLRS... hard decision
Vivid black. I was told it could take up to June to get the bike in. I’m up in 🇨🇦 but I’m so pumped. Sleepless nights. This will be my first Harley coming from a Yammy. Love your videos man they’re super informative!
Is the extremely limited numbers I've been hearing about the ST version true? I read a comment in another video stating that they were only going to have about 300 nationwide. Would be killer to see the Low Rider S in the new Redline Red finish, ditching the bronze accent for black. I think the bike in black looks great though. The grey color looks really good as well, but I don't think the bronze goes well with it. I haven't seen them in person though, so I bet in person they both look killer.
The new low rider s is more a super glide imo. The low rider st is more a sport glide st. Especially when you look at the fxr sport glide. I prefer the st version to all other bikes. But i prefer the 2021 low rider s. Compared to the 2022. That 3 ci is not much of a selling point to me. The styling on the 2021 is far superior to the what i'm calling the 2022 fxd s Edit: fxb s
The hype about Gunship grey is Just flimsy… the black looks far better in my view… probably HARLEY could have reduced the fender length shorter to give more performance looks
Black being universal color for bikes still I don't get why they have dropped the beautiful white&blue combinations of yesterday Harleys, and Grey is horrible 😫
@@collateral9159 I bought a CBR900RR right out of the gate at 18, 20 years ago. Had nothing but liter bikes for the first 10 years. I made it just fine. That lowrider S in stock trim is pretty tamed down. If u upgrade cams, exhasut and tune. Check out Fuel Moto. They have packages and dyno proof. They are getting 125hp/125tq to the wheel out of a 117 with simple bolt ons once u want more power.

I personally like the older dash with the 2 gauges, but I understand the change, the new LRS is still slick.
A lot of people do. I like that it felt like a throwback but functionally it makes more sense up top.
It’s definitely a style over practicality but I’m sure for most LRS owners it got annoying after awhile.
I'm ok with the single dash, but it should have been the Sportster S type. Adding GPS functionality to the new LRS would have added just the little bit more it needed.

Last year I ended up with the Street Bob mainly because it was a better deal compared to the Low Rider S, but now with the 117 it's a different story.
Couldn’t agree more. Harley needed to do the 117 to make the S make sense for that reason.

The Lower Riders are now certainly the stand-out models in the Harley range. However, I’m 6’2” with a 32” inside leg and I find the mid controls make these bikes unrideable. Thats ok its your channel, say what you want.
Love the Lowrider S. I’m looking to get one soon
I’m not a fan of the back fender and light. It should be a short minimalistic fender and brake light. Similar to breakout
At my local dealer it seems like the price increase was more like $3000 not $400
Idk about all that. My 2 nearest dealers there is no mark up. Its msrp plus freight, set up, tax title and license. 400$ for the gray, black is the standard. Wisconsin
My local dealer was $18,xxx for the 2021, now the 2022 is $21,xxx
@@jamesmathis2921 u in commiefornia? HD normally doesn't mark up non CVO bikes.
No commie New York state
@@jamesmathis2921 there u have it
Big mistake not putting the new sportster gauge with the navigation on this bike.
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ HD is waiting for your call $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Pretty sure the ST has that
I bought cruise control for my 2020 FXLRS and I still think it sucks that you have to purchase it separately. Other than that the new model updates look dope!
Can't decode between fat bob 2022 and low rider a 2022 - any help would be appreciated
Great video with lots of great info. Thanks for taking the time to share, ride safe. Cheers
I can tell you from personal experience the forward controls on the Sportster S are not comfortable on long rides and do not inspire confidence in the corners at all. I took mine to The Dragon 2 weeks after I got mine in the first of October and the 5 hour ride out there was fine... the ride back was bad. Really bad. I could barely get 50-70 miles before I needed a good break.
love the bike like to see a chrome option
Awesome review. I respect your individual opinion. Great job brotha. Respect all the way from San Diego, CA
Harley Davidson had to step up their game with this model year motorcycle because Indian released their version of this Harley Davidson.
What is your opinion on a good deal cash out the door for this bike?
I'm thinking of trading my 2018 Street Bob in for one of these, but I will probably take my quarter fairing, Bung King highway bars, Bung King shock extender, cruise control, HD grit pegs, and 1Finger controls off the FXBB and transfer them straight over. I'm pretty sure the dealer doesn't care whether those accessories are on there or not when it comes to trade-in values do they?
Return bike to stock before trade-in. Dealer gives nothing for accessories.
Thinking about trading my FXBB '19 for this bike ...
What do you guys think , is it worth spending money on this trade , or just to get better susppension , stage 2/3 and mag wheels for my fxbb ?
I clubstyled it ,allready have all the bells'n whistles on it (5gal tank, fairing, saddlebags , stage1 etc.)
LRS is better building base but street bob also have have some advantages over FXLRS... hard decision
Can’t wait to pick mine up!
Which color did you get?
Vivid black. I was told it could take up to June to get the bike in. I’m up in 🇨🇦 but I’m so pumped. Sleepless nights. This will be my first Harley coming from a Yammy.
Love your videos man they’re super informative!
Very nice Motorcycle... I may have to go test ride one
I like it. It would make a great first Harley for me.
I still wish they went with digital speedo etc.
The styling on the 2021 is far superior to the what i'm calling the 2022 fxd s
Edit: fxb s
Thank you so much !! love your videos.
Great Review on an awesome bike
could you put a sportier s gauge on it?
HD will do anything you are willing to pay for $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
I like the newer style
Gotta say I like the 21 setup. I would rather see how fast I'm going, rather than seeing my RPM.
I'm pretty sure it's analog tech but digital speedo readout all in one guage
? Its an all in 1 guage
It's got the speed, it's digital
Great video and yes, respect the power👍👍👍
Great video as always!
Would yall recommend this for a first bike? ill be 21 at time of purchase
Yes. Fuk it. Buy what u want
@@fvgc454ss I appreciate it bro. Get done w a tour in Korea in NOV and really like this thing
@@fvgc454ss my dad seems to like the idea to. He's in his mid 40s and been riding since 16. Everytime I mention sportster he says you'll want more quick and need more get out the way power. Just gotta get over the fear of dropping it
Can you remove the furring?
