Good morning Jeff ! 😁 - off to watch this one in a few mins. P.S. - for that animation, I found the commercial last night, and am going to try to find if they have it online. ( the animation of products that scroll across screen and then zoom in or enlarge as they move )
Great lesson! Super useful thanks. One thing: Using your settings, my "snowflakes" definitely don't have that great random, LATERAL variation. More one-directional than yours. How might I be able to add that lateral flake directional variation I see in yours? Thank you!
Great video! With your instruction, I created my first effect. However, whenever I place it onto an adjustment layer over a photo/video, the solid black background blocks out the picture.
After you create a new comp, add the snow effect to your comp first, and then add your photo/video. That way your photo will not be blocked by the solid black background
I am at a cross roads. This is a tutorial I need and want, your voice is clear, inviting and to the point, however I am following along blindly, which frustrates me. I do not want to just create this effect and re-use the preset, I would like to understand why an adjustment is being made. This can be done in a brief tutorial. I have gotten quite good since last winter and I wish to evaluate my game, so my thought process is, do I continue this video and get frustrated figuring it out or do I go and look for someone else who may have it and maybe countless other videos that I can shift through and learn way more. As a facilitator, people learn when they are given an explanation and when they are uncomfortable, frustration doesn't count.
Mine has an issue. I don't know where it went wrong, I used to follow you from start to finish but after saving the animation and opened it on Effects & Presets, I see nothing but a grayed screen, and when played it seems it was there but doesn't show the snow effect. Need your help please. Thanks
Make sure the effect is added to a solid. If you want to send me your project file to 7minae@gmail.com, I can check it out and let you know what needs to be done.
Going in a negative direction won't help - meaning using negative digits (-1,- 2, etc). You'll want to make it a smaller size, using decimals. So, if it's at 0.25, for example, make it something like 0.025 - type it in instead of using the slider. The smaller you get that amount, the closer you'll get to the ideal size. If that doesn't work, increase the DEPTH. This will decrease the size of the flakes as well. Let me know if that helps.
AMAZING tutorial!!! Thank you so much
GOATED
Thank you so much ! A great tutorial that will be so usefull for me. A thousand thanks for spending so much time to create these tutorials !

I stuck around, thanks!

I find the snow flakes are huge in my scene. When I change the size in the minus it doesn't affect the size at all. Thoughts?
