This is the most awesome, down to earth, and relatable video regarding the Encor test. Definitely inspired me. I have the official cert guide book and I’ll be doing exactly what you said. Thanks a ton.
Very relatable Video. I am busy studying for the CCNP Encor right now. All videos you watch tells you how you need CML or EveNG cause "Professional Level" labs use features that does not work on Packet tracer... I understand the concept of having to do complex labs to retain knowledge butter BUT for me (and it seems like it was the same for you), when looking at the exam topics and reading the Cisco Press book, it turns out to be a lot more theory based ("vocabulary" as you mentioned). I am telling people its just like the CCNA except that you don't get those "fundamental" questions. All questions are harder but the concept is much the same as CCNA
Congrats bro I like the way you did it, pass my ccna, started as desktop support and now working as system programmer networking and studying to get my ccnp, your approach is very good. like it
Jørn Larsen same! Working on material currently. I have an overview on some of it out now. The video actually uses a nexus device to make the example, but the principles apply to the enterprise stuff as well. It’s a bit longer and sort of free form, so maybe up the speed. Just shows my process for creating a python script that configures ospf on a nexus using the API. Working on more enauto/enterprise related examples currently and hope to put some out soon
Hi Jørn, did you pass the exam? To be honest I am at the point that I dont know what to read. My exam is next week. I will review one more time security and network assurance and I will start with the boson esim. Cheers from Prague
Not that long ago I was in the middle of my CNA studies and I came across this video I passed two days ago and now I’m writing down all your recommendations thanks

Thanx for sharing Alex, I just passed my CCNA few hours ago and still in study mode as I've been studying for the exam for the past few months... I just got the CCNP Encor cert guide (pdf) just taking a little break and browsing thru youtube videos for inspirations and motivations for the next level...
Thanks for your feedback, in regards to the CCNP ENCOR exam. I'm about to schedule for my exam soon. I plan on going for the exam in the fall (early December). I have Boson, the Official Cert Guide, and CBT Nuggets. If you don't mind me asking, how were you studying a day? As far as reading the book, doing labs, and doing practice questions and answers? I've already read the entire OCG book.
If you read the entire book, I would take one boson practice test, then take note of your weak domains. Lab that out, take the same practice test again in study mode and review the explanations / white papers. Then after you feel more confident, take another practice test to see if you improved. I think boson gives 3 tests, so use them wisely! Don't get into a habit of memorizing what the boson answers are :D Best of luck!!! Thanks for watching :D
@@AlexGrayTech I appreciate your feedback. I'm currently taking notes for all of the topics in the exam blueprints. Like you, I like hand writing my notes as well. I'm going to take the advice that you have provided to me, and incorporate that into my studies. I hope you pass the CCIE in the near future. Again, thanks for providing us with this information.
Recently took the exam and certainly, you need more info than just the book. The book offered a high-level view on some topics. While I was taking the exam, I realized, I should have to go deeper on those. In my opinion, it is not exactly a Vocabulary test. It's a little more than that. The exam had long questions with topology and CLI outputs that you need to understand to apply the right solution.
Thanks for your comment. I guess I maybe already had most of the cli and output stuff from CCNA. That’s why the rest / majority seemed like a vocab test to me. Also, maybe they changed it some since I took it as it was relatively new. I’m not sure how that process works. Additional methods never hurt for studying!
Thanks for sharing Alex. This is inspiring and gives me the motivation to get this done. I have CCENT and I work in a large environment with lots of switching. I am having a hard time getting through the chapters not because of understanding the material, but because it is so boring, especially Part 2 (spanning tree). I've been using the OCG as my primary source of study for the encore. The boson includes alot of material/detail not covered in book. What was your experience when first taking the boson ? I've been using the Pearson tests but basically have them memorized at this point since I've taken them so many times.
boson is tough, I think ENCOR and boson are about neck and neck though. If you're that close youre pretty good for the exam. Make sure you keep going deeper in the concepts even after the exam!
Hi Alex! I have question about Encore OCG. I've read that the book does not cover enough, so there are recommendations for cisco whitepapers. I'd like to hear your opinion on that.
Well, I think you definitely have to do some labbing. As you do labbing you inevitably end up reading some white papers or troubleshooting why your lab isn’t working. @@AlexGrayTech yes im using both as well and noticing the same thing. Would you say that CBT Nuggets covers enough to pass the CCNP? Or still need the OCG? If so, I'd rather learn from CBT to be honest.
Oh yeah, CBT is fine for CCNP. I always supplement my learning materials, trying not to use only one source. But you could use CBT and Boson. Or CBT and just read white papers on the exam topics from Cisco's website. I'm not sure I would only use CBT by itself but in terms of video course and content they should cover the CCNP pretty well. Obviously labbing as well for some of the concepts where it applies
@@AlexGrayTech great advice. Thanks 👍!
I get the ccna in one month studing can i take the ccnp for one studing is it simple or difficult
It is difficult my friend
@@AlexGrayTech do u advice me comptia security plus i am new in this area i was vmware support and i want to work i soc analyst tx alex for ur quick answer
Man Sympa I think you can do the encor if you devote your self to it! One month is a bit fast for encor. Maybe 2-4 months is realistic depending how much time you put in :) security + is good but only
If the jobs you want require it or you’re trying to set yourself apart on resume

which specialization path did you take with ENCOR? ENARSI? which one would you recommend?
I went with ENARSI and I think it really provides a solid routing foundation for any platform.
Hi, congratulations. My CCNP is due to expire on the 31st July so will be sitting the encore soon. How many lab questions was there? Thanks
Hey I am not sure if I can disclose but there are a few discussions out about the topic. You need to be able to answer multiple choice questions about all the topics for the most part
@@AlexGrayTech thank you
No problem, are you planning to take the exam soon?
@@AlexGrayTech yes hope to as my CCNP expires soon
I am taking the exam on Friday as my CCNP expires on the 31st July. Did you say there was 100 questions? How was that split up in terms of normal format questions and drag and drop then? Cheers
Thank you!
How much questions about content that was Not explained on the official book did you get?
I don’t think any
Hello how many time it took you to prepared ? thanks by Advance
About 3-4 months. I got my CCNA composite before the change in february, then Got this a few months later.
Boson netsim is garbage in my experience. Exam sim is decent.
Couldnt enable ip routing on a 2960 switch to allow router to route to a connected interface.
Pretty much my experience as well
Thanks
No problem, thank you :D

Are you on Twitter ?
I’m not right now. Soon the website will come down, may rebrand the UA-cam. Crazy life lately but I am getting back into stuff so maybe I will pick up this project again. Why do you ask?
