      I have a picture book: The Rolling Stones on Tour which is from the post Exile days and Ron Wood's first tour. Lots of great pics of Ronnie's sunburst Stratocaster(s). Bought the book in '77. Don't know if you can find it or not. Great pictures all around.

      And the Zemaitis is worth more than both Strats combined. Much more

    • @p.aaronjones4174

      That's just the guitar market. It's also Ron Wood's Zemaitis.

    • @jennifersman7990
      @jennifersman7990 7 років тому +5

      Zemaitis didn't build his guitars on an assembly line, they were always custom made on a commission basis to the artists specifications, the wood was exotic, the electronics, etc. plus the silver on the front had artwork etched into it. He was the English equivalent to Alembic

    • @chrispalin4043
      @chrispalin4043 7 років тому +2

      william harvey In the 1970s Tony Zemaitis was the finest luthier in the world, and hand made guitars for celebrity clients - people like Jimmy Page, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood, Eric Clapton.
      He only made about 30-40 and hence they're very rare and insanely valuable.
      Ronnie Woods Zemaitis is probably worth about 400k dollars. And that's not the celebrity ownership inflating the value. They're just incredibly rare, and incredibly sought after👍

      That's NOT his collection just what's on this tour. Some of it. Cause I've seen him playing a Tele and he didn't show a Tele. Alco some more acoustics behind him and when you think about the Stones and guitars, they're just tools to do a daily job. So I would bet that while Keef owns this 1 and Ronnie owns that 1 they just pick up whatever suits there mood. And Mick plays ever once in a while also.

    After seeing "Shine a Light" last year, I have much greater regard for Ronnie's lead playing. While I would agree that M. Taylor was the finest lead guitarist the Stones ever had, Ronnie is no slouch; I've also seen him w/the band (in `75, `78, `81, `89 & `97), and can attest that he grooves as well as anyone.

    I was sad when Woody joined the Stones, because I felt it would be the end of his writing and making a real mark. He would as I suspected graciously bow to the brilliance of Jagger and Richards. He has made many solo records and that was good but in the stones he's spent his time politely complementing the others and never over stepping his bounds. In the Faces he was the man multi-tracking guitars and mandolins and composing. In the stones he's a compliment to Richards and a safeguard.

    I think he was brought in to actually bolster Keith's playing; i.e., to fill the holes Keith leaves. Have you ever really sat and listened to Ronnie's playing on the stuff from Black & Blue onward? 'Grow as a player?' This guy was touring with the Jeff Beck Group in '68 [on bass]. Did you hear what he just played on that acoustic lap-steel on this post? He's one of the most capable players on the planet earth.

The others a bit more elusive. Ronnie played most of the guitars shown in the clip. They were brilliant.

    They're usually on telecasters or tele- style guitars. The back of the guitar is routed out for a mechanism that works when you pull down on the strap, the b- sting is raised either a whole of half a tone. I've been able to play only one on a Custom Shop Tele and it's pretty fun! Stonecrazy's right, it's used primarily by country guys, but Jimmy Page used one on In Through The Out Door by Zeppelin. You can hear it on "All My Love" and "Hot Dog"

    @stonecrazy Yeah basically it's connected to the strap button. Pull on the strap and it bends the B string to make the guitar sond somewhat like a pedal steel. It was in fact modeled after a pedal steel.
    Ronnie woods uses one. Jeff Martin a more modern guitarist also uses a B-Bender.
