- The photographs of fairies taken in Cottingley, Bradford, were made by two young girls, Frances Griffiths and Elsie Wright. Find out how they made the photographs that fooled Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Dr Merrick Burrow (University of Huddersfield), curator of the upcoming exhibition ‘The Cottingley Fairies: A Study in Deception’ at the Treasures of the Brotherton Gallery, University of Leeds, explains.

I always felt sorry for sir Arthur Conan Doyle, he was a man who never stopped grieving for his son who died in ww1 , so he threw all reasoning out the window and believed in literally anything that might prove there was an afterlife..
they did a pretty good job, I can see how people in the early 1900s could have been tricked

I honestly don't. If it were me I would have added some cotton batting to them or something to make them look fuzzy and ethereal. They look like cut out drawings.
They are cute photos. But I have no idea how a grown man would think they are genuine. Or how any photograph 'expert' could corroborate that. I was imagining something much more convincing when I heard the story and then when I saw the actual pictures I was shocked at how ridiculous they looked.
Some people today still believe the pics are real 🤣

Real Fairies are the spirits of nature. They aren't physical beings therefore it would be difficult to photograph them ^^.
There is one photo in which the fairies are transparent and the girls said it was genuine and I choose to believe them.

The cousins came out and said 4 of the photos were faked but they said that the fifth photo is 100% real
@@chanelboyle4205 The fact that Frances and Elsie claimed that the photographs were faked means nothing. The fairies could have hypnotised them to make them say this. Wake up people. Fairies exist 🧚♂️
@@JamieKeddie the fifth one was real the rest are fake they cut them out from a colouring book and propped them up they said how they done it but the fifth one is real
@@chanelboyle4205 brian Coe, curator of the Kodak Museum studied the 5th picture in 1972. Coe concluded it was a double exposure of fairy cutouts in grass,which explains why both women were convinced they had taken the photo.
