Justice was right. About the headbands and Afro choosing revenge and got all his friends and family killed. I don’t blame him. They were gonna die anyway, since the Master had the the number two headband the killers would keep coming for the Master, whether Afro was there or not.
something i kinda like seeing in these all bosses videos is the progression in the players skill in the game, see them play not so good and get better by the end
I always felt like the game, despite its quirks, was basically the *true* version of the Afro Samurai story. Especially since it combined elements from both the OVA and the Manga. Plus Justice's monologue in this and the actual ending of the game made a whole lot more sense/seemed more fitting. Also the music was quite fire too. Shame about the actual sequel game though.
The manga was pretty good for world-building, and having exclusive characters that didn’t make it into the anime/movie/game. Sio’s introduction/origin story were completely changed for Resurrection. *Manga spoilers,* From the Afro Droid fight, Afro walking in the modern day, “City of the Gods,” with paved roads, freeways, and abandoned cars on the summit of Mt. Shumi, (insinuating that the world is post-apocalyptic,) Being attacked by Takimoto, the introduction of Dharman, his army of Afro droids, to Afro’s discovery of Justice’s remains and a cliffhanger ending. Was a shame that Afro’s bearded emaciated look from Resurrection was weak and alone when the boy from Resurrection, now a teenager, and wielding the no.2 headband found him in a sorry state, and upon even trying to swing his sword had Afro jump over and decapitate him. After he muttered the words, “see you in hell, number one,” Afro remembered not only the kid, but the way he killed him was the way his father was killed, and he broke down in grief. It seemed then that he decided to embrace being the #1, and had both Ninja Ninja and Takimoto (from the Resurrection ending,) serve him and, “the new world he wanted to lead.” The video game was the worst ending tho, all the people killed by Afro’s father, and Afro himself, were totally pointless, and he just let the headbands fly off into the distance to become someone else’s problem.
The airborne battle between Afro and Afro Droid is one of my favorite boss battles ever. It truly recreates the feeling from the anime and just feels so good.
I love this iteration of Justice. He truly became a god after his death, Afro worshipped him until the very end, every one that died for his hands was a tribute to Justice.
Afro in this game was trying to stop the cycle of violence this is seen with his fight with justice at one point justice offer him the headband but he doesn't take it from ho justice pleads for him to accept it it shows that Afro's goal isn't to become number one as for his friends and family they were killed by people who wanted the headbands as for his master afro needed to kill him to get the headbands. Final note at the end of the game Afro confronts the souls and memories of his friends and family they are happy to see him instead of being upset Afro's father sword master jinno otsuru all look at him with approval afro let's go because he no longer needs the headbands
To bad this game didn’t have an online mode which would’ve been amazing. Story was well replayable. Enjoyed the endless moves i could perform and the brutal bloodshed. I just wish there was like an insane mode to actually give me a run for my money. It was fun nonetheless and I still miss this series. Justice and Kuma was my favorite.
Again, I really agree with you, you can tell the devs really put effort into the art style and staying true to the original source material, shame the sequel was binned pretty quickly :(
