    As a Mum, I know you made a gut wrenching decision to give your daughter hearing. And you did NOTHING wrong in your pregnancy to effect how your daughter was born.You made a brave and bold, and correct decision to give your daughter hearing. If I could hug you I would. You did nothing wrong when pregnant. And EVERYTHING right for your utterly beautiful daughter! Have a good life together xxxxxxxx

    I am a "congenital rubella baby" as we are called. Profoundly deaf, but with hearing enough to function. I would implore parents of deaf children to allow them to hear. Safety is a BIG issue. Cars are a huge factor. Electric cars the worst. When out and about, I cannot hear those approaching autos! GIVE A DEAF CHILD A PRICELESS GIFT----HEARING!

    I'm going throw the same thing. My baby has severe to profound hearing loss. We are going to try hearing aids first. But sadly I believe they won't work I think my little will need the cochlear implant so she can hear. It was hard hearing from the doctors that my little angel had failed all her hearing test when she was born. It broke my heart but I know she'll hear my voice soon. I cant wait for that day to come.

    So lovely, brought tears to my eyes hearing her cackling, well done parents, best you can do for deaf children. There are parents who still don't like it as the deaf have a community.

    I watched this video because one of my daughters is also named Lily King.
    It is wonderful. And a very generous gift to all the many children who might benefit from the implant.
    She is an adorable little girl, and I liked getting a glimpse of her lovely older sister.
    Thank you.

    It's a constant debate in the deaf world when it comes to the implant and hearing aids, sign language and etc.
    I think it's someone's personal choice and nobody should be shamed in which direction they go. There is a lot
    of hate from deaf people as well who think that deaf people who want to hear are wrong in it. It's a personal choice.

      +Heather Russell What do you mean?

    • @heatherrussell8591
      @heatherrussell8591 8 років тому +1

      +Ravi Sidhu. well, I am deaf. profound on my left and almost profound on my right. I can hear only music when I use earphone plugged in. I don't need to hear anything else in the world because frankly, I CAN SEE most of everything is unpleasant especially people's foul and dishonorable mouth. only beautiful noise I'm missing is the noise of nature, singing voices n children's laughs. but that's alright because I CAN STILL hear beauty of those things with my eyes. I believe SEEING is far more inspiring than it is to hear. many are selective hearing and most of us are apathy so these noises of beauty is often not noticed. in the eyes of a deaf individuals tend to truly explore or analyze the surroundings just to feel involved in the society best possible. u understand? we appreicate a lot more for what we have n for where we are at more than the ones who can hear. just saying from my observation. many many people tell me this..."I wish I'm deaf. u are lucky u don't need to hear it."

    • @RaviSidhu22
      @RaviSidhu22 8 років тому +2

      +Heather Russell Well you have put that in beautiful words but it wasn't so clear when you wrote above. I am fine too where I am, and I like this silence too, but in the scenario can't dismiss the brilliance of sound as contrast.
      P.S : I too am the "we" :)

    • @heatherrussell8591
      @heatherrussell8591 8 років тому +1

      +Ravi Sidhu. unclear on what? I'll be happy to clearify.
      umm... I want hearing parents to understand few things... if baby's already deaf, noises doesn't matter to them yet parents want to open up their heads is because that's what the PARENTS want. ability to hear DOES NOT HELP language development. it's the parents responsibility to help their child with language development and yes, learning sign language is the best way to communicate with the deaf. not speech and audio therapy and training. we, the deaf, people can never learn to hear and will never be able to talk normal l
      it's just literally impossible. I am really good at lip reading and for the most people can understand my speech after letting them know I'm deaf. I speak really quiet bec I'm too shy to use my voice. after 12-13 years of speech therapy, I still can't understand everyone because of accents, facial hair, shy ones talking too small, and a lot of terminology pronounce very similar. I've made a vlog about that.
      I saw this very good quote... "it's not that deaf people can't Hear. it's the hearing people don't listen."

      I guess I would also wonder... why say, No, for someone else? Let every parent make the best choice for their little ones.
      I wear glasses...-9 and -8.75... Yes, Coke bottles🤓 Without glasses, I certainly can not drive, sew, fix computers, do plumbing nor electrical... My point is... Technology has been a blessing for me... Even now they have MultiFocal contact lenses. However, because of my prescription, I need reading glass, with contacts. Please understand other people's choices, and respect them. I pray all can hear and see with help that's available. If no help, don't despair.... Technology changes every day😇

    • @SaidiLouise
      @SaidiLouise 4 роки тому +2

      @@PastorIhaza I'm not certain on my eyesight numbers however, my first pair came to me at 4 years old. I've had giant coke bottles all my life. 38 years later, my eyes are much worse but the technology has made it possible to have glasses that are not giant. Best part, I can see! ♥️

    • @PastorIhaza
      @PastorIhaza 4 роки тому +2

      @@SaidiLouise Yes. I use 4 different pair, one for driving, one for computer, an old pair for sewing and, to see close up I have to take them off,😂... I'm glad I kept some of my older/weaker ones for sewing. Gave some old ones to people who needed them. One lady in Germany was wearing too pair to make bifocals... We worked to buy her a pair, she was 80 years old, still riding a bicycle. I could definitely relate to wearing two pair. That's why I hope technology can help those to hear, see, and even speak through computers. Yes, it can be used to hurt, but mostly to help... It really is the heart of people, not technology 😉. Stay blessed😇

    I think it is appalling how hearing parents of deaf children think they need to "repair" them.
    I cannot understand how you can possibly choose having holes drilled into your child's head (without any guarantee whatsoever that the implant will work) over simply learning Sign Language and allowing your child to grow up as a happy deaf child.
    I spoke to young deaf adults who had been implanted as babies. They say the implant may make everyday life easier for them but they still feel way more at home in the deaf community. Many of them turn their implants off most of the time.
    Parents and especially doctors should give this option more thought before rushing into surgery.

    • @KrikitKaos
      @KrikitKaos 8 років тому +6

      +abeillle80 They are missing a key sense due to some sort of injury, illness or genetic defect. You can romanticize it all you want, but this is, in fact, a repair. If your deaf adults have their implant on some of the time, and grew up able to speak, that's functionality that's worth chasing. I don't think anyone ever 'rushes' into this type of surgery...

    • @melaniewalker5226
      @melaniewalker5226 6 років тому +2

      abeillle80 Think of all the things that they would miss if they can't hear, music the birds singing lots sounds of nature you can't knowing deprive them of that.

    • @kathyyoung1774
      @kathyyoung1774 Рік тому

      Would you have the same advice for blind people if a surgery could give them sight? Blindness and deafness are both handicaps in a world where others can see and hear.
