oh my yes! i rather recommend this over chilli crab anytime for visitors! it's actually so easy to make too (and cheaper) let me know how it goes for you!
@@NomadettEats Well Id never try to narrow myself down to one dish in Singapore so Id still get me a chilli crab but it ticks a very different box for me on a holiday trip to Singapore…..thats my go out to East Coast and eat choice, but cereal prawn hits the trawl a hawker centre box for me - usually with satay and a roti john (Always amuses my Singaporean and Malay colleagues). I’ll definitely try this as soon as I can get a decent cereal for the crumb….thats my current limitation., Nestum is hard to find in the UK.
@@timfitzmaurice537 you're definitely amusing me!! though... legend has it that roti john supposedly was invented cus an expat was looking for hamburgers at the hawker centre - hence mr john lol. you can try with any instant cereal! as long as its not oats, it shoullldd work, let me know!!
@@NomadettEats Well my friend and I knew that history and they laughed even more when I pointed out I had eaten roti john in Ang Mo Kio 😀 So Ive tried the recipe, unfortunately not with Nestum as I couldnt get it, and somewhat smaller prawns. Tasted really good but I need to do something to get the batter to hold on the smaller prawns a bit better….think I need to dry and dust in cornflour first. The alternate cereal I had has less grain in it so I sieved quite a bit of milk powder out of it before using it….so the recipe is strong enough to deal with the ingredient technical issues this end! Ill move to trying some of your others now. Thanks for this one!
ang mo eating roti john at ang mo kio i canttttt 😂😂 so glad to hear it somehow worked out with the alternative ingredients! Wondering how small the prawns are lol, but yes, try adding more of the cornstarch so it sticks, maybe patting the prawns first with paper towels might help too. Dont know if this helps: I actually usually make this without the batter - out of sheer laziness and i can skip a step 😀 - and the cereal could stick to the prawns no prob
Wow! This is by far the best presentation of preparing cereal prawns I have found. We just returned from Singapore and I've been searching for an authentic recipe that looks like what we had at hawker stands and in restaurants. I'm gathering the ingredients, but I'm not sure about the corn flour. The white corn flour in the video looks more like powdery cornstarch to me. The corn flour in my area looks more yellow and finely milled. Can I use either? Thanks so much!
Thanks for the cereal prawns recipe. So much easier to eat with shell off. My first attempt was a success thanks to your comprehensive presentation.
This channel is so underrated, thanks for these great recipes keep it up!
