Cummins 4B 3.9 Overhaul

Overhaul of a Cummins 4B or a 4-390 Case 580 Super K backhoe engine. A bolt came out of the timing cover and locked up the gear train. That intern spun the crank gear on the crank itself, broke the camshaft in two pieces, choppier a tooth off of the cam gear, broke four lifters. and bent 4 pushrods.

is the case 4T-390 engine the same as a cummins 4bt. Does it use the same parts for repair ?? thank you.

What rebuild kit did you buy? I am rebuilding one out of a skid steer and can’t make up my mind what one to buy.

I believe we used a Reliance kit.

Do i have to worry about the kdp in my 4b ? Is it the same issue as my 1996 12 valve ?

Yes you do. KDP is the same problem in 3.9's as it is in 5.9's.
