Rodney is still the star 🌟! He so deserves the rocky theme music coz he's always fighting...Rodney doesn't get invited to Ballina? Coz he's the champ🏆! Still happy for you Bergy... but next time take Rodney coz he'll find the 1M! 🎉😂
Great fish!!! So broad!!!! I got one like that a few years back now in Cresent Head. Killick Creek. 87cm and similar in girth to yours. Congratulations on a massive PB. Fish of a lifetime. I hope you crack the metre one as well one day soon on camera for us all to see!
Bloody great fish mate, time and patience really pays off in the end. Like most of us here, my dream too is to catch the elusive 1m flatty. My PB 78 cm at the pin a few years back, halco laser pro 45 1.5m. It was bloody great fight and she swam away beautifully to give us more flatty's to battle. Tight lines big fella. 🎣
Beauty of a fish mate. I used to brag to my partner while watching your show about how I had caught a bigger flathead than Mark Berg, but now I can't do that. Epic stuff mate. Beat me by 3cms. Fish that big are honestly breathtaking to see in person. Ps would love to see you grind it out for the true metre plus specimen 👌
I live on the other side from where you caught that big flathead Mark. I’ve caught bigger, but not often, to be fair. Try snorkelling in the swimming area in the enclosed Shaw’s Bay. You can hang in the water over them and watch them watching you. Best not to fish there though. In summer, I can sometimes walk down to the water, and have a flatty on the plate in 15 mins
well done bergie thats a massive flattie, well worth the time and effort you put into it!! i'm a addict member i wld love to go flattie fishing with you👍🏻😁🎣
I love how there's all those bream there at the Yamba Shores Tavern - great fun for the kids to give them a feed. If you go back to Ballina again try heading a little bit more upstream towards the flats around Burns Point and Emigrant Creek - there's always decent flattys there and last session we had a really big girl get near the boat just out of net range before she just shook her head and cruised off.
I believe I have seen a metre monster in the channel at Lake Illawarra. I was standing up in my front steer boat heading back toward Winding bridge on a rising tide and I spotted a shape in about 4 foot of water that made me turn around and go over the same spot again. All as I can say is it looked massive in about 4 foot of water so out of the water it would have definitely been a monster. By the time I anchored and tried to flick something out it was gone.
Hats off to you for the dedication to the grind 🎉 Anyone know what make and model the last boat bergy was fishing out of in the richmond? Looks exactly like what I'm after
We're you fished in North Creek on the flats is in my apinyon the best large flathead fishing spot in ballina most of my massive flathead were cort in that creek.
Only dry hands have the ability to kill them 😂😂 don't worry about hooking it netting it then having it thrash round the boat for a few minutes then lip gripping it and get a picture all that stuff is fine 😂😂but if you forget to dip your hand in the water it's dead 😂
My biggest is 96cm port hacking nsw.and a lil trick i learnt down at narooma to get big girls is to throw a few stinger hooks through a slapstix and unweighted in shallow water less then a metre
you are mistaken i got one over a meter ono my whiting rod land based at the pin 20 years ago.and pelpole could not belive it when i let the big girl go before max catch limits. that is why we still have good fish and big girls out there
At Tin can bay in Qld about 9 years ago I caught a 70 cm dusky flatty and thought it was terrific. About two months later I caught a 120 cm one and it blew me away. The jackal lure I always used is no longer available and I've never had another lure that performed so well. The big ones are only in certain areas and are very elusive.
Tbh I saw another channel where a guy used his drone when targetting flathead, it just seemed like the perfect addition to ur hunting big flatties kit. Was amazing to watch ,unfortunately I dont know the name of that channel but you might want to lookit up .

thank you so much for releasing that beast, the big breeders need more respect.
They have been caught in Qld… eurimbula back in about 1992. 106cm on a yabby while whiting fishing. Great ep Bergie, keep ‘em coming!
Great video mate!
Awesome catch! We'll done!
That drone footage is awesome 👌
The drone shots are great.
Great ep, I particularly enjoyed the drone footage of flatty hitting lures 👏
Love watching your shows
Thanks keep it up
So awesome 👏🏼 39:39 great size!! In my home town 👍🏼

Congratulations Bergie 👍😎🎣 stinking flathead.
My PB is 80cm but that was using bait, I’m still that big girl on plastics.
What a highpoint, nice catch Mark. 30 years to catch that one mate, what a feeling it must have been

Omg omg what next 512mm bream lol love it.😂😂😂😂😂.
Big fish stories right here. 😂😂😂

I've landed a 73cm specimen up near Pimlico. I have on good authority there are much larger getting around too.
@@The_Bushman I'd believe it too - Pimlico to Wardell always seems to produce some big ones.
Nice fish.
Great video guys!
Just a FYI, plenty of 1m and 1m plus flatties have been caught in QLD though.
98cm is my pb caught forster tuncurry at the bridge tuncurry side on soft plastic ..nice fish lads
When a plan comes together!!
You need to get down here to Gippsland, Lake Tyers if you want that metery Mark..
Well done mate
My mate caught a 108 cm flatty on a clone prawn lure in QLD
Dang, I wish winters were 7° C where I live. 😂

Go Uncle Rodney and Uncle Burgey 👌😁
How long is the zerek affinity

GET THE DOG!
I caught a 70cm on 8lb line up in Mooloolaba last year. That was my biggest but back in England now chasing Pike, Perch and Trout.
1080 bro……..ya got all the 4k gear…..lets go! Cool video anyway.
I've only caught 2 over a metre in 60 years of fishing. But I only use 6-pound line (4 pound with braid) and very light gear and have lost MANY!
REALLY !
@@tjf5148 What was the point of this comment?
@@darrylmackie9184 yes really
Holly shitballs!!! That is a bloody big Lizard 😯😯
You need to go to Lake Macquarie that’s were the monsters are mate
Thanks mate great fight greater fish
What lure was that minnow called
Duo Tide Minnow Slim
Is that My Lure Box on board 🫡
Got a 99cm in currumbin creek in 2007, on a metal vibe.
best to wet your hands before handling any fish so you don't rub off it's protective mucus with dry hands else its dead in a week or two.
Come on mate so you're trying to say if you touch a flatty with dry hands it dies😂😂😂 that's so dumb
@@oliewray8357 done a lot of marine science work in the past breeding and handling marine fish particularly snapper , bream and mulloway....

The lure is a Duo Tide Minnow Slim in the Neo Pearl colour

Shit fizzer I though you had the meter plus ➕.
Actually seen footage of a bloke catching flathead with banana peel on a jig head
