Since you may not be familiar with baseball, you may not know about the "luxury tax". Major League Baseball doesn't have a hard salary cap. Instead, if your payroll goes over the cap, you pay a tax. The LA Dodgers determined that it was worth it to pay this fine if it improved the odds of winning, which would increase team revenue and value. Basically, they are legally using financial doping. What worries me is BlueCo is trying to do the same with Chelsea and it's gonna bite them in their posterior. Also, because of the Dodgers continually exploiting the luxury tax, there has been calls for reform
I did not know that it happened in the MLB but I am well aware of it in football and especially in the PL. I think that is why we're seeing some strange deals being made right now and why we're focused on reducing our wage bill
