  • The largest ethnic group of the Republic of Dagestan, the Avars have a rich and turbulent history. Known for their high mountain villages, distinctive headgear and various dialects the Avars are one of the most famous - and most interesting - peoples of the Caucasus.

And please do make video about him and his people, the Avars if im not mistaken, I would like to know what is their geological, political, and personal history, their upbringing.. How did they had ties with Russia..
And is he mixed avars or north or south.. You know things like that..

Your dedication to languages not your own tells me you are not desperately unimaginative like most people who are remarkably unremarkable and exceptionally unexceptional, extraordinarily ordinary and unusually usual. You must read the best book out there about the courageous Avars . THE SABRES OF PARADISE by Leslie Blanche. After this book I was hooked by the Caucasus, even marrying a flawless Georgian woman , more angel than human. I have no children but would name my son Shamyl after the legendary, bigger than life Lion of Dagestan, Again I thank you endlessly for your wonderful words about this incredible man.

Excellent video. It is known that Avars were in the Carpathian Basin (Pannonia) before the Magyars (Hungarians). Many believe the Avars intermixed with the Magyars to form the current Hungarian population. It is not known how much the Hungarian language was influenced by the Avar language. This would be an excellent topic to explore.

    • @allaboutrussia2022

Absolutely, its hard to imagine the entire Avar population that migrated to the Pannoniun basin up and vanished!

    • @BetyarPali
      @BetyarPali 2 роки тому +5

@@allaboutrussia2022 the linguists are now researching whether the Avars actually spoke "Hungarian". That would make sense, since the occupying Magyars in 896 AD were small in numbers in comparison to the number of indigenous inhabitants of the Carpathian Basin. The Magyars may have been assimilated within the local population, due to their relatively small numbers.

@Mike Dawson sorry, but I find that a little hard to believe that a country can uproot 100% of its population that has been settled for hundreds of years. I think the majority of the Avars were still in the Carpathian basin when the Magyars arrived.

In order to shed light on the genetic affinity of above groups we have determined Y chromosomal haplogroups and autosomal loci, suitable to predict biogeographic ancestry, from 49 individuals, supposed to represent the power/military elit. Haplogroups from the Hun-age are consistent with Xiongnu ancestry of European Huns. Most of the Avar-age individuals carry east Eurasian Y haplogroups typical for modern north-eastern Siberian and Buryat populations and their autosomal loci indicate mostly un-admixed Asian characteristics.

It's a good question which, frankly, is hard to answer. The Avar language is not a Turkic tongue, and the supposed origin of the Avars is thought to be the Caspian basin - an area of mixed Iranian and Turkic peoples. As such, its possible that some Avars have Turkic heritage I would hesitate to assume that most have or at some point had. To me, an Iranian connection makes more sense.

🇷🇺☦️🤝☪️🇵🇸The Avars, Chechens and other Caucasians (not Armenians) are really the same peoples only split to tribes. The name Tavilins of the Avars and Georgia's capital Tbilisi represent the original Biblical name of Caucasians - TUBAL

@@EasternOrthodox101 Okay, so there are a couple of things to consider. Firstly, the archeological evidence of settlement of the Caucasus is inconsistent - meaning that different parts were settled at different times (likely by different people). We can see this in the Koban culture of the North and central Caucasus, but not in the East which had a distinctly separate Karachoi culture in the same timeframe. This suggests that different groups settled different areas at different times - not simultanously.
Secondly, the bulk of Chechens and Avars (who have been tested) were in separate haplogroups. Whilst this in itself is not damning evidence, it does suggest different lineages.
Thirdly, the Bible is not an accurate historical resource and its testimony should not be used as evidence in and of itself.

@@allaboutrussia2022 Your last statement discredits your whole argument. If you don't take the Bible and table if nations as truth then you dismiss yourself as well. No, the archeological evidence of those so called different peoples cultures are not proven and are not conclusive as well. Also just because there might be some admixture with neighboring Iranian and Turkic tribes doesn't make them really different, cuz overall their Caucasian genes are the same

@@EasternOrthodox101 Okay, so this will be my last response to you. If you want to believe that all the people of the Caucasus (bar Armenians for some reason) are of the same tribe that descends from some biblical tribe - that's yours to believe.
      I do not.

Ah, not quite. There is definitely a large Iranian legacy in Dagestan, but as it is so diverse there is also a Khazar, Turkic, Mingrelian and Russian legacy too.
I actually had a video on Dagestan which you can check out here: ua-cam.com/video/ZPXXQO0ET5g/v-deo.html
