I LOVE my corse pup. He’s a black brindle & it’s the most well behaved dog I’ve ever had. 10/10 for sure!! Huge breed, low aggression, GREAT with kids!!
Thank you for this video. I need to have my Cane Corso litter temperment tested. Now I know how it is done. I'm not testing them myself. I don't have enough experience yet. Your puppies are georgous. Beautiful litter.
Thank you. You can also look up Volhard puppy testing too. Many reputable trainers will be able to do that one for you also and then you can place them in the best matching homes. Awesome that you are doing the best you can with your litter! If you need any help just let me know!
That’s because he’s not doing the testing to figure out the temperament. You can clearly see that several of the puppies act identically with the minimal stress they are put through under yet he comes to completely different conclusions. That’s because he already knows the puppies ahead of time which is not at all how temperament testing should be done. He’s just really doing some random moves and then confirming what he’s already decided a priori.
Thank you so much for your interest. It depends on what program option you pick so either $2700 or $3000. We have everything up on the program on our website at www.guardiancanecorsos.com. If you are interested in one just fill out an application as soon as you know. It's first come first pick and we still have a couple top picks available. Also let me know if you have any questions.
we got our pup at 3 weeks,we rescued her and 11 brothers and sisters from a crack house where the owner had poisoned the mother and left all the pups with his ex.horrible place, anyway,we just went in and took them, straight to the vets, now,we kept 1 pup, sunshine, and she was game for anything, put her on her back like that she would wriggle and nibble and go a bit crazy,BUT,she grew out of it by 12 weeks,we socialised her with loads of dogs, our kids, anyone wanted to say hello she grew to be the sweetest most loving dog you could imagine, and an excellent family guardian, sadly she passed away in april aged 12,but we have a deposit for 1st choice of litter due in august from an excellent breeder,so is it luck or training?
Well she was hand raised so that will definitely impact her temperament and I would assume make her more friendly. In my limited experience each litter has a handful of Corso pups that like people and then some that aren't as big of a fan. So luck, nature, etc. also play a role. But with socialization training starting at the breeder it gives them all a strong start so you can at least get to a balance point with all pups. Talk to your breeder about what temperament best suits your family and hopefully they have a pup that is the personality you like! But it's good you are asking questions and rescuing pups tells me you love animals so I assume you will definitely get a great family pet and the temperament will determine whether you get a dog that loves people outside your family or learns to tolerate them. Does that help at all? Happy to talk further if you have any questions.
thanks for the quick reply, the breeder is barbarian cane corso here in the uk,very good reputation, all her dogs are family, she does home checks etc, when the pups are born we will be going to see them, and spending the day with the pack, all the pups and from there, with the breeders help we will pick the right one,but it will be nice to have a puppy who doesn't need the 2hourly bottle feeds, lol, the puppy will still go through all the socialising and i'm pretty sure we'll find the right puppy for our lives, take care and stay safe x
@@1967Rev sounds like a good breeder! If you look at are more popular videos and you will see we have a temperament test one that you can try out. It's an easy test and while we won't get as much inside as a professional might I think it would help you see some differences between the litter mates. You will notice the friendlier pups would rather be around you than going back to play with the litter!
Yes we still have Sparty a male who would make an excellent service dog. We have an animal behaviorist we can chat with who trains service dogs to see if there are any others remaining that could also work if you are interested.
The tail should be docked to 1/3 the length of the original tail, usually the 4th vertebrae of the tail. If done after the first few days of birth it should be done under anesthesia. We had our vet do it at three days old for under $10 a tail.
Honestly not sure? We don’t really work together much anymore. I think there is some truth to this as the other temperament tests also look at this but it seems to only be one piece of the puzzle. The volhard puppytest has the best breakdown.
what a crock! Ok, I can go with the back & cradle test telling how POSSIBLY their level of dominance MIGHT be. But using these tests to determine if they are service or training, or therapy dogs is ridiculous. Or how they will be with kids, people or other dogs...all impossible...with ANY breed. With work and training at a young age these dogs can be taught obedience.
Yeah you may be right about that, but this did really help me given I did not have any prior experience, going forward I am on the fence if it really is valuable or not as there are other signs that show similar information. And the pups that supposedly may have issues actually did really well so it definitely wasn't 100% accurate.
@@Dogdayshomestead my apologies, I wasn't meaning to be rude. He just sounds like a quack. But, Yes I have seen pups change. I still believe it's all about environment and training. As someone who has raised several pups from birth to taking their trip across the rainbow bridge I know this isn't foolproof.
@@aheathenoutdoors after getting some more experience dealing with this litter I actually agree with you. I think for someone's first litter this is helpful but once you go through a litter or two it is of little value. And 💯 agree on training and the environment as being the key factors.
Agreed, and the worst part is she isn't explaining anything!!! She's just putting dogs on their back (which yes is a measure to see if the dog will submit). However a puppy doing this for 5 secs isn't a legitimate indicator of if this puppy has a good temperament long term. I even understand if the summary on the dog's temperament was after multiple observations and the pic was the final summary after watching the dog over a period of weeks. HOWEVER, since this wasn't explained in the slightest the video makes it seem that putting a dog on it's back for 5 secs you can than make that assessment. As since when has a Cane Corso be a good dog for service or therapy??? The dog was breed for protection and defense against wild animals in Italy. Not for fetching your slippers or informing others that you are having a seizure. This video in my opinion is either very irresponsibly misleading or a fraud.
Yes it depends on your countries import laws but unfortunately we found out we will not be having another litter anytime soon but there are many other great breeders that can help you bring the breed to Australia!!!
This seems very fake... How can this guy determine your pups temperament from a few seconds of alpha rolling them, at their very young age, when a young pup is wide awake to sleepy, they have different personalities. What do you think about this all? Do you agree with the guys labeling your pups from this "test " Honestly, i don't think anyone should have a corso for first time dogs, they need a strong leader and training, with a no slacking approach, because corsos are really smart, they'll use any weakness. From an experienced corso owner, that's just my opinion ☺️
I am having a really hard time with this myself. I actually found it to be pretty accurate for the first 10 weeks or so though. But in following it as a science I think it got us into some trouble. Some of the pups that were possibly a bit challenging were actually some of the easiest pups for their new homes. So I know it was a bit disappointing for one family who picked based on this but it was wrong. I think it's worth doing but not paying for it unless it's your first time, and having a stranger do it and NOT yourself as the pups are already more comfortable with the primary caregiver. We did the back test at 24 hours old and this one at 7 weeks and the results were actually the same. But I put too much weight on it in my opinion as many things changed after they got older! And your definitely right that Corsos need a strong owner!!!!
Agreed. Having some experience in protection training it is almost impossible to gauge a dogs personality as a pup. The dogs we often Thought had the drive and traits we were looking for did not.
Is she asking for butt scratches? They also like to look around and if they have their butt touching you then they don't have to worry about where you are.
@@Dogdayshomestead it playfull bite but when I play with him for long time he starts show aggersion like showing her teeth ( I could see the gums of the puppy ) .........i make his neck on the ground first and he automatically lays down and also he have food aggersion towards other puppy of her age.
