I bought one a month ago and love it to bits. An endearing and charming car The engine is a masterpiece of mechanical engineering. I'll be selling it when I am too old to drive!
what a fantastic car and I must agree that V8 is a beauty. I had a 250 V8 Daimler saloon, a 1979 model with a manual gearbox and that 'as you will know' the same engine. (wish I had it now)!! I have a beautiful Stag and Lancia 2000HF coupe, so, not so bad. Thanks Bob
The car is a peach!! the engine sounds amazing, but nobody mentions that gorgeous gearbox whine! so distinctive. Shouldn't be driving it in the wet. tax 6 months April to October!
Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in EU :-( In Germany the Green party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing petrol stations to only one state operated station per city. :-(
Hagerty's videos should have substantially more traffic considering how absolutely amazing the editing and subject matter is... If there is anything I can help you guy's with I would love to collaborate. Also I would like to get better coverage on my daily driven super rare Saab Sonett sports car.
Used to watch the SP250s rip around Road America, and with a competent hand on the wheel, they were nobody's pushover. Their looks are reminiscent of the original VW bug - not pretty, but kind of like Kermit the Frog good-looking.
Pity there were no fscilities to lift up the car, and point out clearly each "sensitive" area/part, to "uneducated" potential buyers...after all, this car when in 1st. Class condition, doesn't come cheap. Thanks
While I recognise that this SP250 looks to be a prime example, its colour/paint and drivetrain are the main reasons for liking it. I agree that they were ugly ducklings when new, and they still are IMHO. There is no way that I would even contemplate trading one in even part exchange for my BJ8 Austin-Healey or E-Type Coupe. They are much better looking and engineered vehicles, but again that is my opinion!
I remember these cars new. A beautiful little engine, even though it was a bit under-developed. As for the rest of the car, it was totally underdeveloped. The chassis was too flexible, the body was not to the standard you'd expect from a cheap little MG, let alone a Daimler. Hard to think of printable words to describe the looks. No wonder that Daimler basically stopped car production completely for almost a year in the late '50s, just as it did in 1930.
sorry, they were ugly when they were new, they are still ugly now! If you must have an affordable V8 British sports car, buy a MGB GT V8 or Triumph Stag, or TR8. BTW, give me a common E-Type any day. Good post.

I owned a SP250 & really enjoyed it. There is nothing like that 2.5 liter little Hemi. I had a great experience.

Someone once said that a camel was an animal that looked like it had been designed by a committee...
Beautiful car

Like your screen name for this car!
How dare you mention VW in same breath as this work of art ,wash your mouth with laxatives
Why have music with such a soft spoken host ?

👍❤️
1000 hp out of a 2.5 liter?
Hard to believe.

E-types had seductive looks but they were unreliable rot boxes with ponderous gearboxes and questionable aerodynamics. The D-type was far better.
To me, yes, it IS a very nice vehicle, but I must say - it looks a lot like a Stuebaker-Packard from the 50's....???

Sir you are wrong, if you believe it to be ugly look at the Healey 3000, a much uglier car, with a truck engine, the SP is far prettier - thankyou!
