In this one we get to further examine Eleanor's selfishness, but as an aspect of independence (not usually a bad trait). Even in high-school Eleanor recognized that being a part of a group meant sacrificing some of your own interests. The only way to keep your own interests as your number one priority is to stay solitary. In life Eleanor was just like the Woody Allen quote from the episode title. She would never want to be part of any group that would have someone like her as a member. But now, in The Good Place, where bad ethical choices have bad literal consequences, she starts to see the value of being part of a group that supports each other. Chidi ends the episode with the final lesson that even if your group changes, your commitments to the group should still be maintained. And with that, Eleanor finally commits to being part of a group that forces her to change for the good of those around her.
don't get me wrong, these are good reactions to good episodes and that like button is getting a click from me every time, but lets be real... what all us veteran viewers are here waiting for is episode 1x13 ;)

Wow very well put. 👍🏼
@@PariView Thanks! They're really good at hiding these lessons in a silly format.
I love this whole season so much, it’s such a weird but kind of thought provoking start to one of my favorite shows of all time!
This show is so good! You're in for a ride!
Not really watching this show but you two deserve a like and a comment!
Thanks so much for the support 🙏 🙂
Yeah I'm the same. Not a fan of this show, but I followed this channel with Bojack Horseman, so I like to leave a comment for the UA-cam algorithm
