If you have room outside the shed, put compressor out there and run lines in, build a little shed/roof for it to keep out rain…will reduce the noise levels inside the shed while on, also get room back under bench.
I've been a builder for many years and have seen quite a fair bit of sheds. The plans in ryan's package ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxB7IXYxLzb_Ichhe45zM3Im5xfEiSp9vB have some of the nicest looking sheds i've seen in a while.
Was about to say the same thing, taking about the camp gear not wanting to catch on fire and then putting soundproofing where the metalwork bench is. Hopefully it’s alright tho good looking shed
Lachlan Taylor put some 0.6mm sheet up behind your welding bench. That will stop the sound proofing catch fire, will make it easier to keep clean and give you something to attach shelves/hooks to.
That gel blaster rips I’ve got the same one. I had the rifle one on a table during a rental inspection and the chick threw a tantrum over it. Tables look mint.
Hey mate if you’re going to run hard lines for air through your shed, should build a little roof in the funny corner outside your shed and put it out there, keep noise down when filming and also gives you some more space. Love the content
My garage use to have over 36 feet of bench space. It wrapped all 3 walls of the garage. This winter I’m going to be cutting it back to only 8 feet of bench space and installing some shelving and getting a big filing cabinet for storage. I’ve found the more bench space I have the less organized it ends up getting
Definitely build your own stand for the bench grinder. An old steel rim, a length of pipe and a piece of heavy plate will do the job nicely. Way more useful being able to drag it out to the middle of the shed if needed.
@@RoamLyfe Also with the Bandsaw vs Drop saw debate, I would go Bandsaw everytime. Bandsaw will cut everything the drop saw will, but has the added functionality of being able to be used in the vertical position with a table, so you can push thinner material through the blade, like cutting curves in sheet metal
Hands down one of the best things I invested in was a band saw. You can cut so accurately with it and it makes life so much easier. I can’t remember what it cost me ($600 ish?) but it was from total tools and cannot fault it. I will never touch the old droppy ever again! Also move the compressor outside. Built a little box for it with those foam sound pads and thank me later. Those pads will catch on fire for sure near where you grind.
Hey Dude started watching recently and love the channel especially the shed eps, a pointer for the benches, you are going to go crazy after a while when things roll off the bench and fall behind it because of the gap between the steel frame of the she and the tin, so get some sheet metal as high as you want and put it as like a backboard so that things dont roll off, also i have a metal drop saw and i love it for cutting steel box section or angle iron. keep up the great work bro!!
Have a look into some Foil boards ! Bunnings has them, Also should look into a cheap white board ! To write down a to do list, magnet instructions or stuff to & even to write down ideas! Just a thought mate as I put one in my shed and definitely helps me keep track of shit on the good ol to do list !
I brought a makita cold cut saw for $730 at total tools, very little sparks, cuts like a warm knife through butter, I’ve done 5mm plate but wouldn’t recommend it on the standard blade; buy the heavy duty blade for that, but apart from that extremely happy. Cold to the touch immediately after cutting, very little burs, clamp and angle adjustment mechanisms are great. Not a single complaint.
@@RoamLyfe if you want vids or whatever I’ll flick them through. Brought it to build my tray and more metal work later on and it cuts 50x75x3mm in like 6 seconds, only thing is real loud come to think of it.

I’ll send some videos and show you the quality of the cuts tomorrow.
You should do the rest of the sides with sound material, to bad you don’t have red ones. You could put the drill press on a stand at the same height as the bench so that it flows better. Nice clean up.
put a little garden shed alone the side of the big shed mate to store your compressor and run the hose into the shed. it will give you more room and have the noise thing out side
Minticle job fella. A very worthwhile upgrade is insulating the remaining walls and roof, kerp it cooler/warmer makes it way better to working. Also helps suppress noise. Cheap insulbatts from bunnings and youll be frothing wet dreams for days! Love the channel minty man
Get some rubber sheeting and epoxy or staple it to the tops of the benches, protects the bench and pieces you're putting on the bench, holds nuts n bolts in place, and looks good when done right
Work benches look good. I have a 2 car garage for now till i build my big shop. So storage and organization is big for me. I have a lot of tools and had to store all of them
The Evolution EVOSAW380 was one of my best investments. Its a cold cutting saw that doesn't produce the sparks that a normal chop saw would. One of the best chop saws on the market imo
I suggest putting the metal working closer to the opening of the shed for easy cleanup and bringing in materials. You can make one long bench so you can also cut long pieces of raw material. And a carbide chop saws are nice but are noisy and shoot metal shavings. Also recommend a thick steel plate for your welding bench.
looks awesome, id be careful about that metal work bench though, having timber bench top skinned with steel, welding ontop of that & getting it hot will probably burn and catch fire to the timber underneath, only saying this because ive had it done to myself at a mates 😂😂😂
For sound deadening, maybe you could use the fibreglass sound deadening/thermal insulation sheets from Bunnings. Install them between the sheds studs and put thin ply over the top, attached to the studs, to retain and cover them. It would mean you would have to buy a wood saw though. Watching you cut the ply with a grinder was, interesting. Enjoy your channel and the shed is looking good.
Looks good man but I don't recommend putting foam insulation in you're hot works area only because there's a chance of melting them or even starting a fire if sparks or spatter hits them
I would put a metal sheet barrier between the metal working table and the tool box thats taller than the tool box. No need to worry about splatters and sparks
I have a diamond cut saw( cold cut) and its a ripper mate. Bandsaw will obviously be a bit more accurate but you learn to be with the cold cut saw and its extremely quick and neat cutting as long as you have a good blade.
Bandsaw or mitre pretty much depends on what you're planning to do with it. A miter's probably pretty good for ya as most of your metalwork is with tube. But a bandsaw is much better for cutting through thicker pieces such as lengths of bar for lathe or mill work. I'd definitely go for a mitre for about $500 with a steel blade as any bandsaw that cheap wouldn't be too high quality anyways. Loving the shed videos mate, keep it up
Great vid I think you should get a Mikita cold cut mitre saw because I have one and it thick steel like it’s not even there and they take no maintenance apart from a blade sharpened like every 18 months
Sounds better already and looks a bit better! was little worried about the sparks but seen theres already a bunch of comments on that , I would suggest maybe going to a high grade insulation in the ceiling atleast if not the walls as well and maybe even lining the wall/s with yellow tongue and painting it , allowing for ya to build shelfs and hide insulation, keep the heat down during summer and removes a bunch of echo
An organised workshop is the sign of a sick mind. Giggles Bench grinder on a portable stand. Maybe a sheet of ply & sheetmetal between the welding bench & the toolbox? It's good that you have a fire extinguisher handy right next ti the foam panels backing your welding bench. Nudge nudge, wink, wink I got 2 Makita drop saws for $50 each. 1 with a steel cutting wheel & 1 with a wood circular saw wheel. Its g
Have you thought about using a big hole saw and cutting a hole out of one of your benches and dropping in your drill press, I did it with mine and its so good. The bottom plate should just unbolt off. Sick content btw, been watching for some time, learnt heaps.
Have a look on youtube at the Evolution cold cut saws, don't go with anything that has cutting fluid not to be confused with cutting oil the white stuff if you dont clean it regularly it becomes toxic.
Love the video. I am curious why you didn't insulate the shed. You can never have too much bench space. I made an assembly table and used 2 layers of form ply for the top . It has worked great. Take a tip from a QLD woodworker - you need to pull those benches out and seal all the cut ends of the form ply. If you don't moisture will soak into those ends and your nice flat bench tops will no longer be nice and flat. They will act like a slow sponge to absorb water from the humid QLD air. Which for you is a big problem because you have permanently glued them to the frame. You can get a proper wood sealer product but you don't need that. Just paint them with whatever you have lying around ( I had some left over polyurethane). If you don't have anything suitable just shop for the cheapest thing to coat timber. Could be an undercoat, something on sale at ALDI, whatever - just a couple of coats of something is probably enough to stop the ends of the form ply soaking up moisture.
Hey mate, for your saw look at the evolution compound mitre saw from total tools. Multi material blade, speed adjustable for different materials, and only around the $500 mark. Can't go wrong 👌
I dont know how so many get by without temperature controls. I would have (and did on mine) insulated it and then put plywood for the first 8 feet all around. This gave me strong secure walls that I could hang anything anywhere. And it's heated and cooled cost effectively.
I have in the past use old fruit styrofoam box lids, covers a larger surface you can find them free usually disposed at the back of the markets and obviously fruit and veg shops also will stop you from cooking in the summertime and not that you have to worry about keeping warm in qld but will do that to to a degree too. Should work with your sound I'm thinking.
How do you like the Maxium tool box? Super keen to hear your thoughts. They are the only reasonably priced large toolboxes but not allot of people have then.
Pro tip for the pegboard, drill out some 6mm holes (I think they were 6mm) and put some M6 bolts through each other and it won't ever move! Love the videos mate 👍🏻👍🏻

Perhaps foil backed insulation bats. Much cheaper, will take the echo away, much more resistant to sparks & will help the shed not be a sauna.
I’ll look into them!!

great cost/area ratio mainly for heat insulation but great at sound insulation too
