U.S. Marines and Swedish Soldiers strengthen the Brotherhood in Gotland

- For the first time since becoming a full NATO Ally, Sweden has hosted NATO troops for the annual maritime exercise BALTOPS 2024 - aimed at strengthening collective deterrence and defence at sea.
The mainly maritime-focused exercise takes place every year in the Baltic region. This part of the exercise took place on various islands in the Swedish archipelago of Gotland. Overall, more than 20 NATO Allies, including 50 ships and dozens of aircraft, participated in BALTOPS. This year was particularly notable as it marked Sweden’s first participation as a full NATO member.
BALTOPS allows Allies to practice collective deterrence and defence at sea. The Baltic Sea region is crucial to protect because of its trade and energy routes. The exercise is led by US Naval Forces Europe-Africa and the US Sixth Fleet. Command and control is carried out by Naval Striking and Support Forces NATO (STRIKFORNATO). #usa #sweden #nato

My thougt exactly. But the one making the video probably haven't been there or haven't got acces to a map. 😁
There was a program series in both Sweden and the US in 1988 celebrating the 350 year jubilee of New Sweden. They were also talking about "old" Sweden. One of the US reporters thought that the island Åstol was in the Baltic, while it's outside the west coast in the opposite part of the country...🙄

USMC is not an elite unit though. According to swedish standards they are common infantry. But still glad they are with us now against Putin.

@@freezedeve3119one should be "pro peace", and sometimes you need to pay with blood to keep that peace. WW2 is an example. No one wanted to fight and die but they had to or the world would become a fascist empire.
