    something to mix in might be a dappen dish from the nail supply store. you can get them with lids as well as being able to mix in them. They are very small and made for the Acrylic hardener for doing nails.

    These techniques explain so much better alternative methods of edge coating. Can paint be applied over the Fabric Fusion? Or, do you still need a base coat? Also, I was giggling at that white tail wagging away in the upper left corner of the video!

    • @SewGnar
      @SewGnar  2 роки тому +1

      I wouldn’t use the glue as the base coat, it dries hard and doesn’t sand down like the edge base coat.

    I wonder if you couldn't use a slicker/burnishing stick/piece of canvas to buff/burnish the edge instead of using the protectant cote? When I work w/leather I always burnish the edges to make them a little slick/shiny & look nice n smooth😁

    I have cork that needs to be as durable as possible. Picture something like a yoga matt. How do I seal the cork matt and prevent it from flaking when it is being stepped on. I also want to prevent any abrasion damage whilst maintaining the grip. I'm affraid a gloss finish may be too slippery. Any advice on what is best.
    Desired Cork Finish: Durable, Hard-wearing, Non-Flaking, Matt Finish.
    Side Note: The cork I have is rather brittle rather than super dense too.

    Can you use this glue on faux leather? And do you burn the edges on it? Also what type of thread is ok to burn?

    • @SewGnar
      @SewGnar  3 роки тому +1

      I would think it would work fine on faux leather. I'm not sure about burning the textile because depending on what it's made of it can be really flammable and it could melt it. My best advice would be to try on a small scrap. Poly thread burns best.

  • @dashkadam3146
    @dashkadam3146 3 роки тому

    Direct flame won't work, there are special edge burnishing irons for smoothing out the edges. But they require fair bit of practice to master them.

      @@SewGnar Hello ! For information, I've tried Eco Flo glue which is used for leathercrafting and for now, this is a failure. It takes ages to dry compared to fabri tac, has to be pressured a lot (I had to put clips) and it dries white. So it cannot replace the fabri tac or the fabric fusion. Too bad. Anyway, I've got another question : do you glue every parts together before sewing, including cork to cork pieces ? Or do you just glue vinyle to cork, pockets, and then sew everything ?
      Another question, I'm testing to edge paint directly with tokolone. Have you ever tried this ? If yes, what do you think of it ?
