I haven't been to Stone Mountain in a LONG time. As long as I remember, they had a village with a bunch of cool stuff.

This looks pretty awesome. We're in SC, not too far from Atlanta and have never been. Does anyone have any tips about discounts, best times during the yr to visit, etc.? If I find any I'll come back to this post and share what I find. Thanks for the video! I'm definitely adding it to this year or next year's bucket list, depending on the total cost of a trip for 2 adults and 2 older kids.
I remember going there and watching them use explosives to create the sculpture. 1960's. I remember them having a big deal over the carilon coming from Europe? There was a giant reflecting pool at the top of the mountain, back then, surrounded with flags of the world. Does any of this sound familiar? Is the pool still on top; did see it in any of the videos. Tks.

They should bring back the lazer show in mountain vision its way cooler than todays lazer show, especially if they add the new effects from this one.

regardless of waht you may read below, this park is considered a resource for many African American families. In Atlanta the 2 biggest tourist attractions are the coca-cola museum and the worlds largest lump of granite, so it is good to have somewhere to take the kids to on the weekend.
What they used to call the plantation is now called "historic square" and on the top of the mountain is a yankee flag not a rebel flag.

Those who don't know their history are doomed to repeat it. Whether you like the Confederate history or not, it is a part of us. Do not destroy a monument and rob your kids of knowing where this country came from. Learn from our history and be proud of this country. For all its flaws, this is the greatest country the world has ever known because we have learned from our mistakes and are better for it.

Because when stone mountain was given to the state of Georgia to be made a state park the original owners stipulated that there had to be some sort of confederate memorial be established in the park as part of the land deal

I went as a young boy . I would like to visit again so please don't destroy its beauty on stupid stories that has heard of it past. The past is gone!

Me & my girl friend went there in 2005 & 2006. In '05 she bought something from the gift store & decided to return it. We went there again exactly 1 year later & to my surprise the gift shop accepted her returned item. It's a beautiful place unfortunately marred by the confederate carving.
