    I need to do the same except move it 10" to the right, is there a 45° corner piece for that metal trunking?

  • @willthornton4391
    @willthornton4391 2 роки тому

    Also is metal trunking only behind the cable or does a section get put in front of it ? Cheers

    Hi, what's the tool you used to cut the wall? Thanks

    I'm learning some basics at the moment. What's the reason you didn't use Wago connectors? I didn't realist you could just twist and tape!

    • @symmetryofzero
      @symmetryofzero 2 роки тому +2

      He twisted and taped so he could use the old cable as a draw wire to pull the new longer cable in. You can't just join a new piece of cable to existing cable.

    Where did you join those wires together? you just looped and taped the wires together.

      Hi MrUniman69. The looped and taped joint was to enable new cables to be pulled. The connections were carried out under the floor boards above. Hope that helps

      Im assuming one way you can do is expanding foam and then filler or plaster over it and sand down and paint?

    • @oakeyelectrical3650
      @oakeyelectrical3650  2 роки тому +1

      The patching up was done by a plasterer. A couple of ways you could do it would be to fill with bonding plaster or sand and cement. Them skim over with multi finish plaster

    • @d4ve19
      @d4ve19 Рік тому +1

      For small holes like this you can tidy it up yourself with filler. People will tell you you can't and it probably says no more than 5mm depth but I have replaced about a 1m x 1m hole in my wall that was back to brick, all with filler. You need the right tools (same as plastering) to get a good finish but it is doable.

    Is there a way to do this without pulling the cables, ie joining using wagos?

    • @oakeyelectrical3650
      @oakeyelectrical3650  2 роки тому

      Hi Stewart. Not really sure what you mean. Do you mean joining cables and burning them in a wall? The best thing to do would be to replace the cable by either pulling it through on the existing cables or chasing the wall, the you could join the cables under the floor with an appropriate junction box such as a wago box

    Nothing in the video showed how the new cable was electrically joined to the existing feed. Must hav been done under the floorboards.
    Lucky that the cables could be simply pulled through, since often there may be cable clips etc holding the hold cable?

      You can choose a slower playback speed in UA-cam.
