    This is why I prefer kyokushinkai. It's said to be a wild and brutal karate, and it's not karate. But nobody in the street would fight nice, in kyokushin you beat each other out, but also with technique.

      I love to watch kyokushinl, and they are hands down some of the hardest fighters and can take a fucking beating, but in the street they also punch to the face, and standing close and not learning to move away (it brings alot of risk in kyokushin because the distance allows for kicks) can get you taken to the ground. I think a kyokusin fighter could become absolutely deadly if they incorporated judo, especially since they often stand very close

      Kyokushinkai is 100% karate. It just belongs to the full contact branch of karate, like Ashihara and Enshin. That being said, some other karate styles also include full contact sparring, but it can also depend on the specific club you train. I train shorin-ryu karate, we include full-contact sparring with the same rule-set as Kyokushin.

    • @guilhermekfwst
      @guilhermekfwst 2 роки тому +4

      As punches to the face are not allowed (because it's a bare knuckle fight), the most efficient distance to hit your opponent's body with punches, and also prevent receiving kicks in your head at the same time, is at close range. It's similar to those situations when boxers are pretty close to each other and usually both fighters keep punching each other in the torso, with the difference being that in boxing anyone can come with an hook to the face at any time.
      Of course you must be pretty resistant to body punches otherwise you can lose the fight just by the pain of those (it happens ate 13:45 in the video).
      Although in my opinion, when most skilled fighters go for kyokushin kumite, usually they tend to get more distance from eachother during the course of the fight, when more kicking techniques usually are seen.

Both of which could make these fights way more interesting. -- I mean I would think the blocking would actually be more powerful than the punching.

    Daffuq is this? There is no technique, no criteria for points, it's just 2 guys giving weak hits randomly in hope for a whistle of the arbiter.
    I'm black belt of shotokan and of course there is no heavy contact (that's the legend, in competition everyone don't go easy) because you have the power to kill and you have to control it.
    In Shotokan there is more technique, speed and power, also you can hit everywhere.
    This is bullshit
