I have the medusa head buckle. My friend gave it to me without the belt. Is it possible to use on a cheaper belt or do I need a Versace belt

The one I have does not feature a removable buckle. I don't know of any Versace belts that have a removable buckle, so I wouldn't be able to answer your question. Perhaps you can call a Versace boutique and inquire. Thanks for your question!
