hai Andrew, this performance one of our collaboration with LeineRoebana Dance Company. They had already before performed "Sporen" in years ago. for their Jubileum 2016 they asked me to use a piece from Piere Boulez "Douze Notation" and make combination with gamelan.
It is exciting to hear Boulez's piano music with your gamelan score kang Iwan. Of course, as a musician I would prefer to see the musicians performing! What is the wind instrument which enters about 2:25, and have you performed this work without the dance?
Gamelan Klavier (2009) By Gordon Monahan is also for prepared piano and degung. ECCG presented it here soundcloud.com/gordon-monahan/gamelan-klavier-2009 and her ua-cam.com/video/I_Y74rNIGcw/v-deo.html
My teacher James Tenney wrote The Road to Ubud (1986) for retuned & prepared grand piano and degung. open.spotify.com/album/3WZfqXmJ72Jytp462MSyQv and ua-cam.com/video/WwTEnZci77c/v-deo.html It is the first work composed for the combination of gamelan (here degung) and prepared piano - predating my Palimpsest by a few months. In addition to being prepared, the piano is tuned to a nine-tone equal-tempered scale of which the five-note pelog scale of the degung is seen by Tenney as a subset. Terrific, Kang Iwan. Please tell us more about the work.

Ha.ha...start 2:25, is connection between boulez melody and Laras madenda...by the way we never play again since that performance.
