- In this video I will be going over all the supplies and products I use to protect my trading cards! Protecting cards can be confusing and costly for new collectors, so it’s my goal to help make it easier. Throughout the video, I will discuss which supplies are the most essential, where to get them, and how to use them. I’ve noticed a large amount of new collectors in the hobby and wanted to make a few videos like this one to help out anyone who needs it. Stay tuned for more content soon!

2 years later and this video is still super useful for newcomers like me! Great video Packman 👊🏻
Thanks! Glad to hear that!
@PackmanCards what do I use for a anthony richardson downtown...please help
I remember years ago.. I would buy pages, with card sleeves that are meant to be put in binders... And I would cut out each individual sleeve, each page would have 9 sleeves, so I would get 9 individual card sleeves. So I would put my card into a penny sleeve, and then into the harder binder page sleeve... It was hard to afford to buy hard top loaders, especially after buying the packs of cards. Then I would store them in a larger box, usually that held like 120 cards or so... Then I grew up, and bought actual supplies lol.
Haha yea it was a struggle for me when I was young and collecting baseball and pokemon. I had a few sleeves and 1 toploader lol
I'm from the UK & new to the hobby. Love your box breaks & this vid in particular really helps 🤘
Thanks a lot!
AWESOME VIDEO👏! People like you man are going to make this community grow. Video was very informative and not only that gave us resources as well. Cheers 🥂
Thanks a lot! I love this hobby!
Great job showing the sleeve in the magnetic, took a bit of a hiatus when magnetics first came out and didn’t know that trick
Thanks! Yea it’s super helpful imo
Thank you for making this video! I have ben needing to find a good video on this topic!
No problem! Thanks for watching!
I’ve been waiting for this. Awesome job bud.
Thanks!!
Thanks for this video, I'm new to collecting basketball cards so this helps a lot.
Great explanation! The hardest thing is getting teambags and mag sleeves to fold flat eithout creases
Facts haha
Hey Packman really love your channel and your videos. You’re a great youtuber and great video!!
Thanks a lot!
Nice video, thanks for this man. I used to not like one touch magnetic case because the card tends to move around, but then I realized it is the same thing with graded cards where cards are also moving around inside the case. But very informative video man, thanks again!
Thank you so much for this! I heard those are the essential sleeves for NBA cards today. I am a newbie at collecting NBA cards but almost a decade on MTG card game. I use Dragon Shields for outers and KMC Perfect HARD for inners. They are the top notch sleeves for gaming out there. There's lots of shuffling involved so card protection is my priority. I double sleeve every card I have but I heard that double sleeving NBA cards is a big no-no here. Now I have to switch sleeves but then I'll get to use those Toploaders I hoarded before I left MTG! XD
Very helpful thank you
Thanks man. I'm starting my collection on black friday with a WNBA hobby box. Now I know what to get to protect them.
Np! GL!
Thank you so much, I love your voice, you are awesome, I appreciate you🙏🐶🐾😇💜
Thank you o kinda needed this video. Helped a lot
Np! Thanks for watching!
The video I never knew I really needed!
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼😁
Nice work. Thanks for all the info.
Thanks for watching!
Great info. Thanks!
Np! Thanks for watching!
Thanks this helps a lot
Great idea. Thanks for the video !
Thanks for watching!
Hello packman, I’m new to the card collecting game and I would appreciate if you made a detailed video breaking down the different kinds of cards that are in the market right now. Thank you for making great content!
Thanks! I’ll try to make something along those lines
Do you then store them in a box? A bag? A shelf? Frame? How do you actually store them once they're in a sleeve/toploader?
Great vid bro my question is though when you put that really good card at the end in the case with the sleeve Infront of it when you put the lid back on the case, is that card sleeved? And then put in the case with another sleeve sitting on top and then close up the case?
Can you do a tour of your collection!
When I condense it sure
It is funny how you are doing a video like this and my things I ordered from elite card sales just came in when I ordered it in early January
That’s good! I know a lot of people who ordered around the same time had issues so glad to hear someone got their stuff
Packman Thanks I’m glad to find out that I wasn’t the only one to have issues getting my stuff
I’m returning to collecting after quitting in the mid 2000s. Things are a little more different than they used to be so thanks for this info.
Question though, do you bag up EVERY card that goes into a mag or top loader? We used to just sleeve and top load only back then so this is new to me. Appreciate your response!
Thank you for this! I’ve been slacking on buying supplies and I’ve been running low, I’m gonna have to buy some at my lcs
Np! I always used to find myself low on them lol. Hard to choose supplies at my lcs when there are Packs right next to it
I agree😂
Thanks for that video bro
Np!
Thank you
Yes i have wanted one of these videos
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
This is a good video because I need to but more supplies for my cards but idk where’s the best place to buy them. Unfortunately i live in east Rochester so the nearest card shop is hours away.
I’d try ebay or one of the retailers I named
Landon Wollschleger 585
I’m down by Albany and the best place is mattsbaseball.com. He right outside Albany and has way better prices then the big online guys.
John T thank you
If the penny sleeve is too narrow at the opening just use a finger from both hands and pull it apart till it widens the opening. Doesn’t take much force as it widens easily.
Love the informative video. Even being in the hobby 10+ years there is still stuff to learn and remember
Thanks! And true that!
Good video very informative
Thanks!
Thanks!
Np!
Your my favorite UA-camr
Thanks!!
Do you still recommend to put a sleeves on top of a autograph card inside a magnetic case?
What are the sleeves that you put the one touch in called?
Hey what protector should I use for my anthony richardson downtown card???? Please help 🙏
Can I put them in a sleeve, then put in a toploader, then put it in a cardsaver and then put in a one touch?
great video! kinda late LOL. how can i protect metal cards?
Why painter's tape (over any kind of tape) when sealing the toploader? Great video by the way
It won’t leave residue
Is it fine if I buy supplies right off of the BCW website?
Does the brand matter for toploaders and sleeves
Nice video sir
Thanks!
Hey Packman. When getting toploaders is PVC a bad thing? Do you think it’s fine to get ones with PVC anyway?
I’m not too sure what that is tbh
What size magnet card holder is that in the video??
Thanks bruv.
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
How often do you send in for grading? Is it better to send in many cards at once? Do you only send in cards you think may be a 9-10?
Not often. Yes, and yes
perfect fit sleeves are much better than team bags
They are
I know I’m a bit late but hoping you see this and reply anyways. I’m new to the hobby and have been heavily focusing on contenders football. Got a few decent hits and don’t know how to handle them. Would you mag the autos or top load them? If I mag them, would you still recommend putting a sleeve over the the front to preserve the auto? Also, do your cards often come out of packs with scratches? Been noticing I’m pulling cards with surface scratches. Thanks for all the advice you give.
Hey! I usually sleeve and topload contenders autos. The good ones I’ll mag but I do put a sleeve on front. Condition has been a pretty big issue with paninis cards as of late so I get lots of scratches and damage
Packman thanks so much! Really appreciate it.
Thanks bro! Aloha
Np!!
You should make a segment for newbies, like this video! Awesome information!
Thanks! I’ll try to make more!
Unrelated to storing the cards, but you mentioned the card you were using as an example was damaged. You said you were going to send it back. Do you mean to the card manufacturer? Will they then send you a replacement, or what do they do about that?
Thanks for this vid. Do you have a general rule of thumb as to what cards to sleeve vs top load vs mag??
Np! I’ll make more vids and try to cover that
What size are the mag holders you have?
NICE!!!
👍🏼😁👍🏼
@@PackmanCards DO you know the revolution LeBron? How much it worth? Cause you are the pack god!!!!
Do you put all your base rookie cards from prizm and optic in top loaders, or just the top rookies?
Just good cards
Can you let me know if it’s worth it to go to Target or Walmart to hunt for card boxes?
It sometimes is
What Pt is the standard top loaders you have?
Where do you send your cards to get graded?
Can you make a card collection video. Or like you top cards?
I’ve done some of those already. I’ll update them periodically
Hello, are you still replying to comments?
I recently opened my first set of booster cards. I got a special card with signature that ebay sellers are selling for around $120 (my best card yet). I have it into a sleeve that is made to go with the card (same theme) and in a regular top loader. How much should I protect a $120 card?
Hey Packman, I'm still confused about the standard toploaders that don't state the point thickness. Are they always 35pt? And then for football prizm cards the redemptions always say 48pt, so will they not fit in standard loaders?
They fit but it can be a little tight. And yea they usually are
@@PackmanCards So what about prizm basketball? What size toploader do you put yours in?
nice
Thanks!
I have a noir rpa trae young in a one touch and it is loose, is it necassary to put the sleeve in front? Never actually seen that.
Is it the right size mag?
@@PackmanCards yeah, should have been a 35 pt, unless I accidentally grabbed the 55 pt, it's not terrible loose but it moves
Notification Gang!! First comment
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Hey got a question what is the name of the sleeve that you put a magged card in
I think he just used a team bag
One touch resealable bag or something like that. I show it in the vid
@@PackmanCards thanks
For cards like rise n shine, jersey series, jersey kings, etc., should I go for 79 pt or 108 pt?
I’m not sure tbh. I wanna say 108 to be safe. 79 could be a bit tight
@@PackmanCards I measured the mem card I have and it's around 0.078 inches. Should I look for a slightly thicker toploader or 79 pts is good enough?
I’d go up to be safe
@@PackmanCards alright. Thanks man.
What boxes do you recommended to buy for beginners
Hoops or revolution
@@PackmanCards thank you
Great video! Do you mind if I post this on my website?
What kind of site is it/for what purpose?
Packman just my site beansballcardblog.com. I have a section with useful links so I was just going to put it in a post and link it there.
Ok yea sure thing as long as it’s all positive and everything!
Are binders bad to use for your cards?
What size top loader is “standard”? And what do you put optic in?
I think it’s 35 point. And I put optic in regular/standard
Packman, do you know how much NBA hoops 2021 cost? Coming out in 3 days on the panini website?
(hobby)
What equipment/software do you use to film/edit your videos?
My phone haha
@@PackmanCards dang that's really nice for a phone!
Haha thanks!
i was going to send some cards to have graded but $110 to grade 5 cards seems too much to only have it sent back as a 9.5 lol....sigh.....should i send them or not
Depends on the card
Can you do more stuff like this pls
Feel free to recommend other ones!
I wish cards came in 5 or less sizes. I have like a dozen diff size top loaders, cases, one touch etc so frustrating
Hahah ikr it’s so annoying
4:38- Essential supplies
I don’t quite understand the one touch resealable bags and team bags
What don’t you get about them
Does the promo code with Elite Card Supplies no longer work?
No he’s put a pause on business
Do you use gloves to rip packs? To avoid finger prints or smudging?
Some people do but I don’t. I just clean after if I see any
Where is the best place to buy the supplies Online?
eBay or one of the retailers I named
Thanks!
What do you mean by "a mag"? it's the case with a black border that you show
Never mind I figured it out through the websites 😅
👍🏼👍🏼
Do you need to tape it or its a preference
I personally feel it’s important
@@PackmanCards im just getting into collecting so im looking into what the bests things are to protect/store cards. Thanks for the amazing video
What’s that tool to cut the sleeves
A box cutter
I’m new to the card game in the sense that I am doing it as an adult rather than when I was a kid and clearly didn’t take care of my cards (when dusting off the old collection).
I recently bought some Panini Illusions Mega Boxes and there were these cool plastic cards, but had major scratches from production in the back.
I noticed you say “I’m sending this car back because it is damaged”. What do you mean by that? I would really like to get these swapped out if that’s what you mean. 😅
I replied to your message!
Good company’s to order hobby boxes from online ????
Not too many tbh
Suggestions
Can you please add a link to the guy you send your cards to get rated from please
Dkcards
If you contact bcw on Facebook and ask him to send you thier thickness gauge. they'll send a nice laminated copy. Good little tidbit of information to pass on to all ur Subs
They’ll just send one?
When I asked for one, they sent me 3
But yes. Mail it right to you
So is card binders for noobs?
Will game stors have cards?
Some do
never knew putting a card in a penny sleeve could be so sexual xd
😂👍🏼
Me: now I know how to store and protect my cards.
.
Also me: now I need to figure out how to get money to buy the cards
😂👍🏼
Hi packman would you be willing to trade for that Michael porter junior optic holo
For what
Maybe like a Tyler hero prizm variation rc
Why do people use team bags?
It's to prevent the toploaders from getting scratched.
MoneyShot thanks
First
🎊🎉🎊
want to sell that kyler murray in the back
Keeping for now
Wassup daddy
Whoa
Dude, enough with the weird finger thing you do, it’s creepy
