Kim personally I think your being very hard on yourself.........it looks absolutely amazing to me and its an absolutely fantastic idea, I am so glad you got your lathe working again 👍👍👍
I think it's lovely. The wobbly-edged squares look artful and painterly and take nothing away from the piece. The design is wonderfully imaginative and inventive. It has a throwback feel to the 1950's aesthetic that I love. As ever, I love your videos. They continue to be a comfort during trying times. Cheers. Blessings upon you and yours.
Girl! The lord blessed you with crafty creativity for sure! That is beautiful! Being not perfect just adds caricature! I love the whole idea of half clear! Keep up the great work!
I love your mastery of the techniques. Several turners have equally measured mastery. You, Kim, express your art with a rare authenticity, a caring heart, an informational quality that makes it easy to learn. You do more than turning, you inspire. Levis The Turner
Beautiful vase. I think the bubbles and dark resin through the cracks give it character. You are far too critical of yourself Kim, God has given you a great talent and it is great watching you make art (and learning from you too).
Kim you do work well and your pieces always turn up great. I find you are so hard on yourself. It is said you are your own worst critic, well you got that right ! Kim YOU ARE A GOOD Woodturner. Keep it up 🕊🇨🇦
Hi Kim, I agree with Doug. It looks amazing bubbles and all. in fact I think they look like bubbles in water and the wonky squares have a lovely character of their own. Take care Kim. Cheers, Huw
You are the first woman I have seen turning wood and resin and I know there are prolly more but I feel like you empower women to do this kind of thing and I love it it turned out beautiful
Very art deco style Kim! My hubby ordered my lathe this week 38 yrs of anniversary Christmas and birthday presents lol he got me a Jet 1222VS its a mid size lathe but turns up to 12 inches over the bed. I'm so excited! Got all the tools sharp and ready to go! Woohoo! I can give my teacher back his lathe. Love watching you! God Bless!
Kim, you don't need to point out flaws. Many people won't even notice the personalized features. You are awesome. Where do you get the can of creativity? I'll be glad when I can produce something half as good as you do.
Yes they do but the attachment for my drill press to use the square bits is very expensive. 🤷♀️ I do not have that kind of money for just one project.
@D Harwood Hi again, I'm sure we've chatted before👋 I was thinking exactly that! Pretty sure that in the sixties my mum had a vase about 7 inches tall turned from blocks of various different woods. Kim's amazing piece definitely reminded me of it, I do think it's exquisite, don't you?
I really like that Kim, having the coloured cubes in the wood and the coloured and wood cubes "floating" in the clear resin was a great idea looks very effective. Also, many thanks for the quick tutorial on how to use resin, it will no doubt be very helpful when I try using resin 👍🙂🙂👍
I love the "I dont know if that made any sense, but it seemed to at the time"! That could be a comment like I would make. Lol! I really love the vase! I would love to have it in my house to sit on top of my piano.
Kim, I think this is great! You might consider using a mortise chisel to trim the corners. You can get one at Harbor Freight for under $20. Don't need a mortise machine, just use it like bench chisel. Then you can use your bench chisel to scrape glue and resin off your work bench as they were intended to do! HaHa
Another great project I can’t wait to try myself. There is a set of mortise drillbits that you can put in your drill press that will cut out square holes for you and that way you don’t have to beat up your chisel
I have had similar experiences with the chisel maneuver in my furniture making. I got past it by purchasing a square chisel mortising machine. What a difference it made. Love, love, love watching you turn, and the wonderful and imaginative designs you create.
I'm revisiting this turn , absolutely beautiful kim . I hope things are getting better for you and your family, looking forward to watching you making more beautiful stuff . Sending prayers and stay blessed
I like the vase, and I like the lessons I learn from your videos. I wish I had had someone like you or Pohl Barn Doug for my shop teacher in high school.
my father used to use rubber bands on his pieces to eliminate chatter and vibration..same concept as used in metal turning like on brake rotors..another nice turn Kim...
It actually came out pretty cool! I do like the shape you started with too before it went on the lathe. Hey, no one said squares were supposed to be perfect lol.
Is this one of those times when you say to yourself ,WHY ? lol I like the that fact that your mind is always coming up with these creative and sometimes questionable projects , But somehow you always seem to shine in the end and pull off another great piece of art,
Looks great to me. Maybe if you buy a cornering chisel it would help you square off the round holes. Makes short work on mortises cut with a router. Love your videos..
Kim personally I think your being very hard on yourself.........it looks absolutely amazing to me and its an absolutely fantastic idea, I am so glad you got your lathe working again 👍👍👍
Thank you so much 🤗
Very neat turning! Glad to see that lathes behaving the way it should be! Safe turning, Jim
That is a beautiful vase. The bubbles on the cubes gives it character.

I've never seen eyes that are your color. Absolutely stunning!
Life is a learning project, hopefully we can all learn from your experiences Kim👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😎😎😎
Yes it is! Thank you so much! 🤗🤗

Your ideas and your creativity never cease to amaze me. Thanks again for all of the inspiration. 🙏
Beautiful piece. I love the imperfections. 😉
Thank you so much, Scott 🤗

Thank you so much! 🤗🤗
Looks great, Kim. I think the uneven edges where you chiseled add character to the piece. Take care.
Bill
Thank you so much! 🤗🤗
That vase is BEAUTIFUL ! I think a set of small version of this would make cool tea glasses.
Thank you so much! 🤗🤗
Thank you for all the work you go through to film and edit these videos for us. You're a blessing!
I truly appreciate that! Thank you 😊🤗
Another great turn. I like the rough edges on the squares. Takes away the mechanical look and gives it a nature's view.
Thank you so much! 🤗🤗
Beautiful, I really enjoyed!!!
Thank you so much! 🤗🤗
Kim, It looks fantastic! The bubbles just show it was made by hand with love.
Thank you so much! 🤗🤗
You are the first woman I have seen turning wood and resin and I know there are prolly more but I feel like you empower women to do this kind of thing and I love it it turned out beautiful
Omg remember me "the kiss gustav klimt" its so beautiful. Congratulations and thanks for teaching us
Thank you so much!! I never heard of that painting before. I had to look it up. :)

Wooohooooo!!! I am so excited for you!!! Yay!!!! What a wonderful hubby ❤
So nice to see you back again Kim. Lovely piece and the resin looks like glass. So pretty.
Thank you so much! 🤗🤗
Great project, Kim! Let's call the imperfections......Character!
Yeah! That's it, Character!
Beautiful concept.
Kim, you don't need to point out flaws. Many people won't even notice the personalized features. You are awesome. Where do you get the can of creativity?
I'll be glad when I can produce something half as good as you do.
Thank you so much! 🤗🤗
OOOOOOOOF that one turned out lovely. Almost looks like a nice tall glass. Heck you could probably turn a nice beverage glass like that.
Thank you so much! 🤗🤗
Square hole drill bit would definitely help the next time you need a square hole 😁 Yes, they really do exist
Yes they do but the attachment for my drill press to use the square bits is very expensive. 🤷♀️ I do not have that kind of money for just one project.
Kim, it ended up beautiful. i look forward to your videos every week to see what your creativity will bring.
Thank you so much! 🤗🤗
Something I learned doing bricklaying... Not quite "Perfect" can give it Character! Great piece.
Thank you so much! 🤗🤗
Love it. I’d like to see it in a bright blue. I think it would really pop. Have a blessed weekend.
Thank you 😊 you too!
A very nice piece, Kim! Kind of retro sixties!
The imperfections add to the character of the piece. Well done!

Very nice vase with an interesting effect. Something that will damp out vibrations is to put a thick rubber band around the rim. It has helped me.
Thank you so much for the tip!!
The bubbles are features, Kim. Glad to see you back to turning this week. Keep having fun at it.
Thank you so much! 🤗🤗
I like the vase, and I like the lessons I learn from your videos. I wish I had had someone like you or Pohl Barn Doug for my shop teacher in high school.
21:37 the frosted look (if you will) inside gave it an interesting look
