I love the bond the officer's on the K9-unit have with their dogs. They have each other's back. The dogs never discriminate, or lie. The purest form of duty work. The dogs really do serve and protect. So much love and respect for them. I am glad they even have a retirement age, and get to live out their senior years with their handler and aren't just separated forever or put down. Also it makes me happy that bad guys who hurt these K9 officers face the same penalties as hurting the human cop. If they are going to put animals in the line of fire and give them a job. I am very pleased they are protected and respected under the same laws.

My brother had dogs to assist him at the Speedway, Indiana Police Dept. back in the 70s. I am not sure what they were called back then, but I remember how majestic his dog was! I don’t think the term K9 was used, but I knew this was his partner, and buddy!

Flex is a really great police dog! He can be called off the big chew toy (bite suit guy), then sent to apprehend (bite and hold) the big chew toy. Then he can be called off. That is excellent!!!! High drive and 100% compliance with what the handler asks in the moment. That is a truly exceptional dog for this work. He does multiple tasks too and he has such a good temperament he can live at home with his human!
