Fantastic breakdown of the PS5 controller my friend. I like the attention to detail that Sony did here with the little sqaure, cross, circle and triangle buttons acting as a grip. That's classy 👌.
I dig the new intro. Also, you are a braver man than I an for taking apart a brand new controller the way you did. I teared up a little when I saw it break, lol. Thanks as always for the great content. I look forward to seeing what you do with the controller
I 100% knew I was going to break it and I was ok with it. With no guides being online it is what it is. Like I said itll easily be hidden going forward. At least I figured out the right way lol! And thank you! Alex did an amazing job on it!!

Hell yes dude! I had to do it!! I was just so morbidly curious!
I am a little concerned about the durability of the adaptive triggers too. But mostly due to user misuse. The example that comes to mind is in the announced feature in Deathloop, where they said that the trigger will lock when the gun is jammed. I fear that many players will forcibly try to press the trigger anyway, because it is something that we are not used to. I think the best way to avoid this issue is through BIG "on your face" warning messages.
That said, I still think it is a very cool feature and I'm really excited to see how the devs will make use of it.

Wow! Solid review, IMO PS4 was already one of the best controller out there, except for the slippery thumb stick, can't wait to try that PS5 controller!
I did not notice the pattern on the plastic with the cross, circle, square, and X, that's a nice design and I love the crossed lines on the thumb stick for more adherence. I was scared a bit when I saw you handle the box cutter and I thought you would cut toward you but you did cut away from you +1 for safety haha!! :D and another +1 for Metric weight measurement ;D
OMG the adaptive triggers system, I hope it is not going to be like the N64 joystick problems ... I'm curious what kind of mod you would make for it, that could be nice ! :D
With what you have done to Game Cube Controller, cant wait to see what you can do with this one. I know i wont be tearing mine apart till i can get a 2nd Controller just in case i screw something up. Knowing me, that is inevitable.
You did an awesome job, though I'm not sure how you could do any other way with a sick controller. Am definitely looking forward to seeing a modded PS5 controller! (I'm really seeing blue with the color scheme going on)

Hey pick yourself up a little tool called an "iSesamo" they are used in phone repair and its just a flat thin piece of flexible metal that is great for opening shells and other friction fit or plastic clip things. I do highly recommend getting the name brand from isesamo/dotterpod and then sharpening it then removing the edge from the sharpening so its just a beveled edge. Basically just sharpen it and take some 500+ grit sandpaper and try to cut it with the edge to remove the cutting edge/burr.
So apparently YT forgot to send me notifications until today so I have some catching up to do! That controller looks flimsy mechanic wise... let's just hope it lasts longer than it looks! I'm still trying to get my hands on a PS5... butvI was able to get an XSX last week so at least that's 1 down and 1 to go! Can't wait to see what mods you're going to do with these! Dan, welcome back buddy! Its been a minute for me too, but after some time off, I am finally back to making videos again! I have been having some fun with this controller for sure!!
Hope they used more expensive rubber on the sticks then the PS4 controller. It peeled off on both of my controllers very soon. I still think having the D-pad being in this front and center position is an archaic design choice, probably just to differentiate their controllers from competition. Having the left stick be in the same position as face buttons is just better unless you are playing a fighting game with this, or other more traditional games.

Hey! What about a feel test with the PS5 joysticks on a Gamecube controller? I've been able to use PS3 joysticks and I'm pretty sure the same goes to PS4's, so you could try going for a "PS5-ish" GCC for next video, or something among those lines.

So weird sitting here with a controller for a system not yet out. Packaging is pretty shitty. No cable is strange. As for the controller it does feel fantastic. The option/share buttons are way better. I don't think I'd be able to accidentally press these. Glad they've finally made substantial controller design changes.
Reading what you wrote you and I are very much on the same page. Packaging feels cheap and is not great and the usb cable not being there doesn't make sense.

Sony controllers especially after the ps3 are a pain to open compared to most nintendo controllers but I've never opened a wii u gamepad or wii u pro controller so can't say much about those and Joy cons are super annoying too
I agree with you. Ive been in them all (has to be a better way to say that) but in general I agree. Nintendo controllers can be serviced much easier!
