@@Sean-me4fv well Sean if you purchased a luxury bag before you would think at least if it is damaged it should not take all this much repair if you put it away for a long time unless it was damaged in a flood or fire, so I agree with what she wrote.

Anyone who is really into craftsmanship and attention to detail would cringe. Especially when making the fake Louis Vuitton logo and not even doing it correctly.

You can hear that the piece is older by the thickness of the canvas. They don’t make them with the same quality anymore. Beautiful piece, beautiful restoration.

Me too, I would have liked to see the old leather cleaned and reconstituted, maybe even new stitches, but old leather looks better than new leather.
dingo1666 the old leather was too worn out to use again and still keep its shape
The yellow thread is exactly how authentic LV bags come but they only use it on the undyed Vachetta leather. And the reason the new leather is lighter is because thats what new Vachetta leather looks like, it only gets darker and more brown from sunlight, oils from your hands and water stains. aka with age and use.
Go on the LV website most/all of the LV monogram items that have leather on them will be this colour most of the time.
Stitching needs some work too. Still very talented
The owner of that purse would be all “check out my authentic Louis” and I’d take one look at that stitching and think to myself ‘you poor, naive girl’..

Watching these videos have made me so much more aware of the craft and artistry that goes into making designer shoes, handbags, etc.
Well they made it more laborious than it had to be. I simply put mine in a bathroom sink of soapy water and scrubbed the outside then turned it inside out & scrubbed that. And mine is not even that old. I rinsed it under warm water then patted off the excess with Viva paper towels then sat it in the sun and let it air dry and done. After that I wiped it down with leather conditioner from Home Depot and boom. Done. I think they did this unnecessary dragged out sound alarm cleaning for views and kicks.
@@teachher2fish491 I mean you gotta do what works for you. It's great that you have a cleaning regimen that works for you, but I wasn't talking about the cleansing of the item, but the item itself. Obviously, this video was posted for views, since it's on UA-cam... and a lot of work and experience goes into restoring an item, depending on what it is.

The bag itself is authentic. Reworking the patch isn’t a big deal because he can always remove it and send it to the San Dimas warehouse for “authentic” repair...which is literally what he’s doing anyway

I had this same model when I was a teenager and unfortunately the weight destroys it in a very short time, this is a professional work and I admire it.

I cleaned my canvas Coach bag (about this size) with Mr Clean and then olive oil on the patent leather.
I used a birthday candle on the zipper.
it came out looking brand new.
It is now in a bag in the closet.
Just wanted to share my low price cleaning.
You can also take your coach bags to a coach store for a free cleaning any time!
@@brandihazelett6031 I know, but they dont clean them at the stores. Theyre sent back to a warehouse. One could just send them there themself without the stores.
@@brandihazelett6031 really I didn't know that. I have a coach bag I have been sitting on not using because I was scared of getting it dirty. It's a nice sizeable black n white limited edition bag. Imma start rocking now that I know it can be cleaned and restored.

@@clairejoseph4418 I would definitely ask. I have sent each of my LV bags back to be cleaned and have a new zipper and other fittings a few times. There was never a charge. I have two bags that are 35 years old. They look well loved. As far as Coach, even if there is a small charge, it would be worth it. There are also some good videos on cleaning Coach bags on You Tube.

Here in my city there's an artisanal market and a store for leathercraft bags, belts, backpacks, everything is so beautifully crafted and you can tell the quality of the materials, you can buy a full leather backpack for around 200-300 USD. Pretty sure outside of my country leatherwork is much more expensive.
I was shocked when I finally learned they are primarily vinyl not leather. No thank you.

@@duchessofdissent5728 well thats the attraction to them. It feels like leather but it isnt . A lot of other coated canvas like Bruberry, Coach, or even higher end brands like Goyard feel plasticky I think. They've changed the formula thru the years but its the coated canvas trunks that made them famous for their durability. They r super care free, dont lose shape as much. When it rains, it always looks great.
