I'm not sure why they teach us how to play instruments but never how to maintain them. Daily cleaning for sure, but never disassembly and assembly. So grateful for this video.
Really helpful, clear, step-by-step demonstration. I've bought a used, very tarnished Trevor James 10x to give my grand-daughter and wanted first to remove the tarnish from the body in a sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) bath as demonstrated elsewhere; but first I needed to disassemble the flute to protect the pads and tuning cork. Confident to go ahead now and have a gleaming flute to give her. Thanks RTC!
Just a quick comment on the thumb keys. The longer (bottom when the flute is laid on its side with the main keys facing up) thumb key is called the B natural thumb and the roundish one (the part where you place the thumb is roundish) is the B flat thumb key. The B flat lever is the eighth note/L shaped key sticking up above the F key. Great video. Thank you!!
As an amature flutist this gives me anxiety because my first finger and the spring popped up because one of the screws was loosened just a tiny bit right before a playing test and it wouldn't make any noise and I had me an episode...
I have a student flute that I was given (a fortissimo) and the Eb key on the foot doesnt spring shut. The other keys on the foot are fine but it seems that the spring for the Eb key isnt engaging. But also the key is stiff, but can be moved with a finger. It doesnt flop about which I thought it would do if the spring was disengaged.
What will be the difference between Normal Bamboo flute with 6 Holes. Please let me know. Apart from the Sound. Will it be different how to play too ? Since I played only Bamboo flute.

Did it work with the bicarbonate? I have the same situation, tried one of those polishing fabrics, but that didn't help very much...
klara0kor I don’t know if you’ve figured it out by now but here’s a video on it!
Very helpful

@@klara0kor works wonders on silver, yet not all flutes are pure silver so one has to be careful and deoxidize according to the materials
A bar with the 3 keys at the top of my flute and im thankful for this video right now
In a word, AWESOME!!! 😎

Clear, concise, to the point. Excellent. I noticed you've also done the clarinet and saxophone. Will you be doing an oboe soon?
