I appreciate that Roy brings black history month into every month. Im constantly learning something new through his comedy.
Black history is everyday
Respect for showing Frankie Knuckles to the masses Roy!
Frankie is a legend... 4/4 4 lyfe
YES‼️‼️
What about other legends, like Louie Vega?
If he mentioned him, he would have said "No, I'm not talking about the Mambo No. 5" guy.". (I don't know what he would call him, but he'd be referring to Lou Bega.) and he'd play a clip from the music video from Mambo No. 5.
@@nbuehster Louie Vega is great but a student of someone like Frankie so I reckon that’s why Roy didn’t mention him. I actually met Louie Vega in 2019 when I worked at A1 Records in NYC. Very nice dude
Roy Wood Jr. has got to be one of the best parts of the daily show, I love everyone on here but Roy always makes laugh like a little kid, “the devil controls these hips” 😂
And if you read this comment I hope you have a great day, you’re awesome and you’re worth much more than you know ❤️
Needed this...💞
CP time is the best time XD
♥️♥️♥️
Gratitude for the love in your comment! We need more of that 👍🏽❤️
Much love back!💙💚🌲✌️
"If you're at a burning, you're on the wrong side of history." I nearly choked hearing that. Nice little historical factoid there.
❗
That ring light reflecting on his mustache is hilarious 😂
It's mesmerizing
The world's shiniest stache
It looks like a miniature baby seal.
@@tiffanyanderson9437 🤣😆😆
This is quality content, Frankie Knuckles and Martha Wash deserve all the flowers for their contributions to art, music, and culture 🌹
Major flowers to larry levan... paradise garage... ❤
“Unfortunately, due to climate change, it’s raining men far harder and longer than ever before… Hallelujah!” Drinking coffee while Roy delivered this line almost killed me.
As a proud Chicagoan and a member of House music community, well done Roy! Thanks for mentioning Ron.
What do you think of amapiano? A beautiful, melodic and laid back South African offshoot of house music that has been blowing up of late.
Shout out to ten city. All the househeads know who I'm talking about🎶🔥
"even her lawsuits were a hit" thank you Martha Wash!
Two Tons of Fun for those that really know
And her work with Sylvester
"you put the devil in me and he's loving it" 😂😂
As one of the original Chicago House heads that was there at the BOX, AKAs, CODs, LeRays, thank you for highlighting the founders of House Music. Let's also show some love to other pioneers of House like Farley/ Hurley/ Jesse Saunders/Phuture without them there would be no TECHNO or EDM!
Anyone who really has a love for house music, knows who started it, the same people who started all the best music. Hip hop, house, blues, jazz, soul, r&b, jungle, reggae, ska, dub and rock
Facts are facts 🤷🏽♀️
Amen
Talk black to me🔥 don’t forget gospel, country, and disco music
@@Jah_Nzola drumming/percussion in general. If anyone thinks a bunch of white guys got together and hit things in rhythm together is just ignorant and don't know how to use common sense.
@@dj4tune820 I said jungle. Lol
🤔 It's so weird to think of House Music as "coming back"! I've been listening/dancing to House consistantly since the 80s! In NYC there were all kinds of House Music clubs jamming until the 2020 lockdown, you just had to know where to go. House never "went" anywhere.
BTW want to hear more of Martha Wash at the height of her success? Check out the bogus 90s group Black Box! That's Martha's voice!
House has always been here, it's just not mainstream!
I was confused when he said that. Like, even if it's not present for the entirety of certain mainstream songs, so many of them have house influences and it's part of why I enjoy them so much! Bend it one way and it's trance; twist it another way and it's EDM... Not to say there's no distinctions between each, but sometimes music has a lovely fluidity to it... ...What was I saying?
Been listtening to house music since a fellow DJ in the Air Force from Chicago showed me the Wherehouse records, haven't stopped since.
Black Box’s Ride on Time was a massive hit in the UK, though I think it was Loleatta Holloway’s and not Martha’s voice on that track. They also used a model in the video.
And also the voice on Seduction's (You're My One And Only) True Love.
That shinny mustache took me out 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
🤣🤣
🤣🤣🤣
I’m so happy he also mentioned Larry Levan. I used to go to the Paradise garage very often. Definitely two legends.
The reunion is labor day weekend.
Dancing like a Boxing 🥊 kangaroo🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣, that's so cute to said.
Love 💓🙏
I have learnt so much of African American culture from these videos...please keep it up
All the way from east Africa Uganda 🇺🇬 🇺🇬🇺🇬🇺🇬🇺🇬🇺🇬🔥
African-American history is beautiful and rich and inspiring!
Thank you!! 🥹🙏🏾 We love Africa so much! 🇺🇸🤝🏾🇺🇬❤🖤💚
They burned all of disco and didn't call it "DISCO INFERNO" 🤦♂️
Ya know!!!!
Missed opportunity
Roy Wood is so amazingly talented. He has great delivery and timing.
Thrilled to see them doing right by Martha Wash!
I love me some CP TIME! Thank you... You are fantastic Roy.
Salute for dropping the knowledge! Chi-town house DJ here!
Yessir, although we both know some of it ain’t quite right LOL
"I shimmy once a decade, and that's it!"
Roy is hilarious 😂
Agreed!
It's the fact that Martha was just like observing him like 🤔🤔🤔🤔 🤔🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
My record collection is mostly 60's and 70's music. In fact, one of my favorite artists is coincidentally named Roy Wood. He had a band called Move, a band called Wizzard, and was also one of the founding members of The Electric Light Orchestra. I saw him do a show in NYC and I got his autograph! And, for what it's worth, he is inducted in The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame
That just might be uncle bebo
Much respect and thanks from Chicago!
My mom actually introduced me to Martha Wash's It's raining men. Ooooh chile does she love that song
What I don’t like about CP Time is it’s too short!!! I need more of Roy Wood, JR!
Roy Wood Jr. mustache brighter than our future
Martha Wash also did vocals for Black Box (Ride On Time, Fantasy, Strike It Up) and wasn't credited there either.
Ride on time! 🔥
Not just house, but also techno has a black history to it. You guys should do a follow up on this.
...techno was birthed from house music...techno didn't arrive on the scene until the mid 90s
And Rock n roll
I love how music continues to change, I remember growing up with that Bmore house in the ‘00.
"These hips are Satan's kingdom" 😭😭😭
As a chitwn kid, The Warehouse was the spot. House music never left my ears... 🎶 Gotta have house music all night long. Move your body 🎶
Yes, indeed. We were lucky to be there during the creation of House. Nothing can replace the feeling of going into the club, hearing a new song played by Knuckles, Farley, Hardy, or Hurley and Housin' or Jacking all night!
Anyone who appreciates house music owes a big fat thank you to the black and LGBT nightlife in Chicago 😍 big props to Roy for dropping some music history!!
Chicago checking in and much love to you guys for recognizing mr Knuckles ✌..
Much respect to the Weather Girls.
Mad Respect for stating House Music got it's name from the Warehouse in Chicago. Best House Club in the world.
Love this segment
Oh my, the mustache, LMBO 🤣😅😆🤭👏
This is brilliant! I’m liking this type of history!
Don’t forget DJ Lady D. The First Lady of House Music. Gotta included the Ladies of the industry.
THANKS ROY FOR WORDING DEM UP!
I have been spinning house records since 1995. I t is great to listen to CP give the masses a little history on REAL house music. Much Love!
Love this series
Roy is so likeable and funny. Every segment is a home run.
Each one teach one or more ‼️‼️Thank you
C'mon Danny Glover is the best throw away closing line ever. 😄
Roy Wood Jr. is the best.
Thank you for including Ron Hardy in the piece!
Oh wow! How great that you're featuring house music
"Surprise it's Caucasians!" LOL
"Looks like you're boxing a kangaroo."🤣
I enjoy house music. I listen daily. When I lived in DMV house and Go Go always playing. 💃🏾
"Even her lawsuits were a hit"😂
My favourite genre of music
House music all night long. Thank you for this!
The little quips are killin me 😆
As a House music lover and TDS fan, it's awesome to hear about this. We're already taught very little about music history in middle school, but they never mentioned Frankie Knuckles' or Martha Wash's impact on the scene. Thanks for sharing!
P.S. I did recognize Martha's name from a Showtek track... I think it was Listen To Your Momma or N2U
This was very educational. I remember the song by The Weathergirls but didn't know Martha sang the hook for the CNC Music Factory song. Honestly, I thought the lady in their video was singing and was part of the group. Wow! 😲
Love it! ❤️
Very nice piece
I love that cotton eye Joe joke 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Fany 😂😂🤣🤣
"That's right ladies; Daddy's got clean boxers on deck."
Absolute cringe. I'm dead. 💀☠️💀
THANK YOU!
House was big here in the late eighties early nineties in New York. I used to go to a club called paradise garage, downtown Manhattan. That was the epicenter of house music. Larry lavan was the DJ. Great times🎤🎶
Thank you!
I am transfixed by the stache but much respect to Roy for educating us
Well South Africa thanks you .. Now this House Music is ours.. we rule this genre and the most capable dancers of this rythm... We tried to love HipHop more but we always go back to house music... We are just born to dance...
I think that Chicago and Baltimore would disagree with you.
Afro House is definitely becoming big. Y'all aren't taking over, but Y'all have definitely earned Y'all spot. Top DJs are definitely feeling the Afro House vibe that's been coming out lately!!!
@@DaBlesssed1 Amipianao and Afro beat definitely blends right into what is true DEEP soulful house. As for a takeover....pump yall breaks while DJ SPEN KARIZMA and my personal Godfather of House Music TEDDY DOUGLAS are still alive there will be no take over BALTIMORE REPRESENT!!!!
@@parabellum5503 lol... read before you comment. My second sentence says they aren't taking over. Baltimore house is okay. You could've left the Godfather part out. It doesn't add validity to your comment. It's just your opinion just like mine 🤷🏾♂️
@@DaBlesssed1 relax brotha I meant to send that to the original poster.
That turn to camera 2 ALWAYS kills me.😂
Awesome!
❤️ cp time! Very informative 👏 👌 👍 😀.
The House MD reference was everything 👍
Warning: Don't get information from Wikipedia. Frankie Knuckles' birth name was Frankie Knuckles. Some of the points were off, but I appreciate you giving my former boss/brother/best friend his flowers.
I would watch a whole show worth of CP time!
Nice one Daily show.. Respect.
Beautiful
Love it :)
Oh!! the days of listening to "FARLEY Jackmaster Funk" on WBMX as well as the lunchtime mix sets.
Hot MIx 5! If you are in Chicago, next Sunday is Pilsen's House Music Festival ,Farley will be there!
Nice proper history of some of HOUSE origins. LOVe the deadpan jokes.
“Where did you come from? Where did you go?….. OUT OF THIS BURNING HOUSE.”
"Too much Whiskey" 🤣
Marvelous
love Roy, my favorite comedian
Shoutout to Beebo’s nephew
That ‘stache though
I love this segment, very fany 😂😂🤣🤣
Roy is crazy!!!! 🤣🤣💖
White boy from the subs... Had a studio/afterhours spot in the Chi! I LOVE this episode!!!
Thank you Roy!
I love this
Roy Wood Jr. is the best part about the daily show.
I am hollerin!
It's only been 40 years who doesn't know house music is black?
People younger than 40 I'd imagine. Especially over the last decade and a half with more white house DJs getting noteriety
👆
Alooottt of people. Especially kids who grew up listening to edm era of dance music. Alot of house music turned into electro house and a million sub genres of electronic music.
Because it became techno and more white.
@@alexskatit4188 Techno is from Detroit, and (once again) Black music.
Oh my fav Frankie Knuckles jam "I know it's hard sometimes"
Roy is the man ❤❤❤❤❤❤😂😂😂❤❤❤❤❤
Respect!
Love me some House.
Let's boogie!
❤ Roy😊
That’s one slick stash 👌🏽
