Thank you for your thoughts. I am more interested in understanding how to put a value on what I’m doing. I know that I can figure things out in terms of how much money I would like to make but my real question is what is fair, just, right. I could charge $175 an hour or $275 or $1000 but why am I doing that? Of course I would like to make lots of money. But what I’d really like to know is how to determine the fees based on something that transcends how much money I’d like to make.
Thank you I’m currently getting my bachelors degree in photography and digital arts but I’m planning on getting my masters degree in mental health therapy as a therapist because I also love it. And photography doesn’t make as much as it did a long time ago.

From a business standpoint, what do you think of the idea of using a sliding scale, and if so how is the best way to go about setting it?
I ask them what they're able to pay and I start with a moderate amount, because they usually don't say anything. I ask about income sources, and it gets worked out. They sign a form for the chart and I do as well and it gets filed in the chart. They often come back for the next session and tell me they thought about it and they can pay $10.00 or $15.00 more than we had decided upon... Best, ~Dr. J.

Very interesting video. Are you then rounding the figure to the nearest dollar, or are you charging those pennies?
Rounding to the most natural amount (e.g., $200, 250, etc.) although I know some therapists who charge the pennies!

Not sure if u r still doing this: what if we don’t need the money and this is pure passion and what if we want clients because we have just started and nobody knows who we r and all we care about is getting 20 clients for our pre licensure?
Even if you don't need the money, you're still providing a service that has a value on it. So, you should get what it's worth. Maybe go online and see what others are charging in your area and use that as a starting point...
I guess not. So I have a question for u: what if we r in a very privileged situation where we have a lot of money and we r in private practice just out of passion and to really help people? And we r in the beginning of our career and all we want is to get 20 clients per week and make our 1500 hours? Should we still keep our price up and why? Or is it totally ok to charge 75 per hour? I’m actually very curious if u have encounter this case?
the client still needs to have some skin in the game, so charge enough

I've been a licensed clinical psychologist for 28 years. You sound like a money hungry therapist not a Healer. Store CC info. so you can rob them, they'll LOVE That! What would make me or any other provider worth $150.00 an hour? I don't have the answer to the Meaning of Life.
