I am a CA Student and do study both Income tax and GST.
In past 5 years goverment have tried to collect tax like never before. Amended so many provisions and they did not leave any place from where they could not collect taxes.
Result of this is that record number of high net worth individuals have left India in last 4-5 years because they have to pay around 35-40% of tax to the government. Also paying GST on every single commodity is also another issue.
Just imagine that you work really hard to make money and almost 50% of is taken away by the government. It's like working half of your life for the government. And still the facilities you get are not up to the mark. Bad roads, mediocre construction, poor transport in metropolitan cities like Mumbai, Delhi etc.
Who would want to live in a country like this.

This is the reality & truth, even i am a honest tax payer from last 18yrs.i didn't get any benefit from government. Till now, i dont even own a house. I am getting little salary after all deductions & goes for my personal expenses, kids education & Medical expenses etc. I am thinking of leaving job & wanted to be in BPL category, where i get benefits from government like ration, free medical treatment etc. What to do? Being a middle class person, i cannot send my kids to government schools & cannot avail government hospital facilities, due to worst infrastructure in this country. This is our fate & have to live till our death.

They were so busy making laws related to bonds and pharma and wreckless PMLA UAPA which are again nothing but an attempt to control the opposition parties...not population. Same is true in case of cars, government is earning more than car manufacturer and dealers per car.
There is minimum 28% gst and then registration charges, then gst on insurance and then toll charges. And then excise duty on the fuel which we purchase.
So with that only infrastructure is being build, roads are being made so that you can ride your car. The highways, roads don't come free of cost.

The person made a very valid point and I think k this need to go viral to help out poor taxpayers who have just single source of salary for which already higher taxes are being charged by government and on top of that for houses purchase along with high ROI we need to again repay taxes to government for same money which has been taxed earlier already.

My salary 14 lakh for which income tax 2.25 lakh i bought a car for 10.lak for (7.2lak +2.8tax) which tax 28% 2.8lakh gst then road tax tax on insurance tax on accessories so totally 11.5 lak . for 14 lakh salary i got a 7 lakh worth car nearly 50% eaten by govt now i have to pay toll
You why it is like this... Because of freebies offered by the state govt and BJP is trying to put an end to it. But people won't vote for the govt which is not offering freebies.
All these taxes can be reduced, if the centre and state govt reduce freebies and invest in govt projects.

Coming to your statistics 28% is GST and rest you spent on other accessories on that GST is small amount how does it sums up to 50% tax would be somewhere 35-38% on overall 14 lakh car value

Compared to salaried person broker is paying only nominal amount of tax. He is not taking any risk. Whole risk is beared by a investor. And one thing cgst, sgst, igst is not levying on capital gains.
For example:- if a salaried person having more than 15 LPA he has to pay around 30 % tax. But in capital gains not like that excess of 1lakh has to pay 10.5% including brokerage etc,.
Some peoples will compare India with other things. But, why are not comparing these things with other things. Pls, check once other countries capital gains.

Taxing is fine but the sad part is that the effective use of income from tax is very poor.
Wrong it's not fine.When a man can not afford to buy a two wheeler,his money is taken and used by government to buy jet planes for the rich.
A man can not buy clothes for his children,but has to pay taxes worth 10k to the government in a month..he would have used that for buying clothes or education.
As An investor, i too have a doubt., if I make Profit on trade ,Govt is charging Securities transaction tax(STT) ,I completely understand,but even if a I make Loss even then I am paying the tax

Being a businessman, atleast, he got the opportunity to raise his concern before the FM. While he still can claim many deduction incurred or said to be incurred for his business, what is the fate of hapless salaried class.
While salaried employees pay more than 30% income tax what security do they get from the Govt. Every year I pay income tax of about 15 lakhs and I had a heart attack last year. Had I not survived, my family would have been financially devastated since I am a pvt sector employee and my company doesn't provide any team insurance. The govt does nothing in such a scenario. They don't even provide deduction for huge medical expenses paid out of our own pocket. It is a pity.
