@@prashantdeepak4842 My eighty year old mother visited Kashi Vishwanath mandir last week. She couldn't be happier. Gone are the dirty, narrow, stinking bylanes. It's replaced by a beautiful edifice. She couldn't walk so there was facility for her to rent a wheel chair with an attendant. Now the temple & it's surroundings are not just clean but look worthy of Baba Vishwanath.

precisely true. Seems it was the policy of the secular Indian state to not develop any place related to hindu religion, especially in the north where conversion is still not that rampant. This must hv been deliberate decision to dissuade young people, urban people visiting these places due to lack of basic facilities or make the experience so harrowing that they would not come back. All of it designed to simply prevent them coming together and ween away a large section of that segment which is already becoming rootless in its culture

I understand that you want to present a balanced view that's why you put that person's (dubey) views in this video.
It seems that he was angry that people received more money than their property worth, I can't fathom that "why it was a bad thing"?
Receiving less money than the worth is problematic, not more than the worth from the government.
It seems that he missed out because he didn't have a property in this corridor.
The worst part was that temples were inside peoples home and there were even living above them.
People used to be stuck for hours in the congested and dirty lanes to get to the temple, how it was a great thing?
Even Mahatma Gandhi in 1916 criticized it when he had visited the Kashi temple.
I am happy that after years of neglect this temple received attention and I am sure all Hindus will be happy to see it.

Baba ji would have run for his money if some one would have asked him -
Baba ji, if new development should not be done since old structures are destroyed then how did these temples got so encroached that then ended up in peoples houses.
I do understand that not all of them were encroached but again the ancient ones must have been encroached (sometimes for good motives, but not always).
It is time to return the old glory to these temples.

I do understand that old heritage should be preserved and that is what the govt official also highlighted that vast majority of the street are not redeveloped.
Also the sacrosanctum itself is not disturbed in anyway.
Temples are built and will be build for people to visit and pray and the condition surrounding baba’s temple was a major hindrances for old and physically challenged people to get darshan. I have way too many examples where people could not visit/pray baba just because it was not possible for them due to congested streets. I’m sure you would also know someone who suffered from that issue.

Carvings are seen to be very simple if compared with other ancient Shiva temples. No figures of god and goddesses are seen to be inscribed on the walls of temple premises. Trees should be planted inside vast temple complex and efforts should be made to recover the original Shiva lingam which is believed to be fallen inside the Gyanvapi well.
