I have been waiting for over 35 years for someone to post a "performance" video of this song. I saw them on a UK Saturday morning show (No. 73) in 1985 and fell in love withby Myles Benedict (the drummer). I became a bit obsessed and had all the vinyl and every magazine article and posters (and at the time they were being tipped for big things and so were getting reasonably broad coverage in the "pop publications" of the time). I was lucky enough to see them live when they supported Human League (but sadly by that time, Myles had left the band). They performed this live - and it was as brilliant as I had hoped it would be and Simon (guitarist) saw my scrapbook and invited me, my twin, and my best friend backstage to meet not only Drum Theatre but also Human League. (At the time I was only there to see DT so wasn't overly fussed about meeting HL... but now, with the passing of time, I realise how lucky I was). Anyway.. enough of my ramble down memory lane. Here in the UK the song deserved so, so much more than it got. It was originally released in 1985 and flopped but was re-released in 1987 where it only just failed to make the Top 40 - peaking at No. 44 - but for me it's one of the greatest songs of all time.
me too i bought every magazine that featured them great songs and visual i liked the 2 keyboard players i remember the on no 73 they came down the stairs and the blond gave a high five going through the door great band and potential
Schoolplein (school yard) was a dutch tv-series aimed at young people. transmission date: 21-03-1986. Drum Theatre perfomed three songs: "El Dorado" , "Home is where the heart is", "Living in the past"
Gary Tarn (singer) went into art-house film-making and writing music for TV commercials. Myles Benedict (real name Miles Baggs) left the music industry and retrained as a chef. Don't know about any of the others.

La colonna sonora dei miei anni da leone, quando saltavo i fossi per lungo e non avevo paura di niente! ✌️

Nice. I agree, it’s under appreciated and they should play this more often on the 80s channels.
I always liked this song too. You never hear it anymore though unless you happen to have it on your own playlist.
They were (briefly) popular in Italy apparently, and charted high there. Myles Benedict's real name is Miles Baggs, by the way.
@@petes.9597 The Italians are known for style and good taste !

Meravigliosa

Quanti ricordi 😍 avevo un fidanzato praticamente uguale a Gary Tarn il cantante ♥️♥️
I can't believe this never made number 1
当時流行の声ですね。It's a trendy voice at the time.
横ステップも and Lateral steps too.
とても懐かしい really nostalgic
GOD Bless You 🎸🎸🎸
Che bei ricordi..ma che chiome!
How sweet can a drummer be? Why is Myles doing the first Sha-Ba-Di, Sha-Ba-Da?
Because he needed to be seen before he was completely engulfed by the dry ice !!
Patrick, please... Where are you blonde angel?
Should have been a number 1 song all day long.
Why and when did Myles left Drum Theatre?
anyone know what happened to the band members

Addendum: I've now been informed that Kent Brainerd (xylophone & dark glasses, aka Kent B.) sadly died of cancer in 2014 at the age of 54.
Anybody knows news about Patrick Gallagher? I hope is alive😢
Why did Myles Benedict look so damn young?
Because he was... and so was I... and I was utterly smitten with him back in the day
He was 20 but still looked younger. Angel face ❤
I could watch him drum all day...
Is there anybody out there who knows the date of birth of Myles Benedict?
1966
His real name is Miles Baggs.
@@petes.9597 A vintage year! (Particularly for Scorpio)
